Volunteer Training
An in-person orientation introduces prospective volunteers to how Faith in Action supports local seniors through neighborly assistance. Volunteers help with no-cost rides to medical appointments, grocery trips, friendly phone check-ins, and social visits, and Honey Do Crews handle light home maintenance and minor repairs. The session explains how to choose the service roles and schedule that fit your availability, with full flexibility over when and how often you serve. Attendance at one orientation is required before beginning volunteer activities. There is no fee to participate, and an RSVP is requested through the provided ticket link.
Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha ValleyCE - Urban Forestry Lecture - April 27, 2026
A lecture on urban forestry practices features Mark Buscaino, Senior Advisor to Casey Trees in Washington, DC. Before stepping into the advisor role in 2025, he served as executive director of Casey Trees for nearly twenty years, and he is an honorary member of The Garden Club of America. Founded in 2001, Casey Trees strengthens the beauty and health of the capital region by planting trees, engaging volunteers, educating people about the benefits of trees, and collaborating with elected officials and local communities to protect and care for green spaces. The talk takes place at the Clay Center Planetarium. Admission is free and the program is open to the public, presented with support from the Municipal Beautification Commission and the Kanawha Garden Club. It is part of Charleston’s 1,000 Tree Initiative, The Appalachian Spring Project, Flowering Our World, and attendance counts toward Continuing Education hours for Master Gardeners.
