Trio Brasileiro

Presented by Field Hall Performs at The Sunset Lounge, this concert spotlights Trio Brasileiro with Dudu Maia, Douglas Lora, and Alexandre Lora. Celebrated internationally for their tight musical bond, the group offers an intimate, glowing take on Brazilian choro. Their album Rosa dos Ventos earned a 2018 Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album and was recognized by DownBeat among the year’s top 20 jazz releases, underscoring their expressive range and precision. The trio’s connection runs deep. Brothers Douglas, on seven-string guitar, and Alexandre, on percussion, began making music together early on, later teaming with bandolin virtuoso Dudu Maia. Regular creative retreats in Caraíva inspired the ensemble Caraivana and strengthened the partnership that fuels their work. Performances move between classic choro and original compositions, marked by nimble interaction, rich detail, and an uplifting sense of joy. Audiences in the Pacific Northwest may remember their appearance at Wintergrass and their faculty concerts at Centrum in Port Townsend. General admission is $20. Card purchases include a 5 percent service fee through the ticketing platform, which can be avoided by paying with cash or check at the box office.

Weekly Plucking Posse

Now in its second year, this volunteer effort brightens the Waterfront District by tackling the small eyesores that add up. Work begins at the Port Angeles Downtown Fountain, then shifts to spots along the district as the crew gets underway. Volunteers focus on removing weeds from planter beds, under tree well grates, in sidewalk cracks, and along street curbs, and they also address moss, algae-stained concrete, and unattended waste. Bring gloves and common sense. Tools are provided, though they can run short, so bringing personal tools is encouraged. Plans depend on the weather and may be canceled in poor conditions. Ecstatic Dance 1st & 3rd Saturdays

A community-led ecstatic dance gathering takes place on the first and third Saturday each month, created by people who want to offer open, conscious movement in Sequim and nearby areas. From the moment you enter the room, the focus is on letting go of judgment and expectations, listening to your emotions and sensations, and moving in the way that feels right for you. Authentic expression is welcome and there is no right or wrong way to participate. A sliding scale of $10 to $20 is suggested, and the space offers an open door approach so you may arrive or depart whenever it suits you. Updates about DJs and music curators are shared in the comments. To support a safe, meditative dance space, participants are asked to dance barefoot, unless a physical condition requires soft, indoor-only shoes. Wear comfortable layers and everyone wears a top. No alcohol or drugs are permitted. Please keep the dance floor quiet to preserve a movement-based, contemplative atmosphere, speaking softly only when checking for consent. Come scent free, avoiding fragrances and essential oils. Phones should be turned off and cameras or video are not used; if marketing photos are planned, dancers will be told ahead of time. Stay aware of others as you move. Consent is central. Many people prefer to dance solo in a shared space, so give others room. Look for a clear yes before engaging with someone, such as turning toward you, moving closer, or offering an open hand. Respect any no, including turning away or not responding. If you are unsure, ask quietly. A gesture of hands together at the heart is a way to say thank you or to communicate a boundary.

Let's Go Sequimming!

The Sequim City Band brings an outdoor performance to the James Center for the Performing Arts with Let’s Go Sequimming, rounding out Crazy Callen Weekend of the Sequim Irrigation Festival. The music charts a voyage with Seagate Overture, reflections on the legacy of Titanic, and lively Bayou rhythms that suggest faraway shores. It strolls along the coast with Sousa’s Manhattan Beach, raises voices in A Sea Chantey Voyage, and surges with selections from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, where the Kraken may surface in sound. The finale, Victory at Sea by Richard Rodgers, draws from the World War II documentary series chronicling naval battles across the globe, evoking the intensity of conflict and the resilience of those who served. Librarians “Still Here” Album Release Party

Field Hall presents a live performance and album release celebration for Librarians in the Donna M. Morris Theater, marking the arrival of their new record, Still Here. The evening features brand new original pieces by trumpeter and songwriter Joel Ricci and highlights the band’s blend of folk, rock, cinematic textures, and jazz. Based in Bellingham, Washington, this quartet shapes reflective songs about loss, transformation, turbulent times, and both collective and personal identity, reaching toward feelings that are hard to name. Their focus is on vital, dynamic songs that build emotional connection and speak to shared humanity and the fragility of life. Copies of Still Here, commemorative posters, and other merchandise will be available to purchase. Tickets range from $25 to $32. The Ludus ticketing platform adds a 5 percent service fee to card transactions, while cash or check purchases at the box office avoid the fee. Financial assistance is available through the Field Hall For All program. After interpreting songs by artists such as Vic Chesnutt, Greg Brown, Ani DiFranco, Tom Waits, and Robyn Hitchcock, they moved into original material with the addition of Joel Ricci, who developed a quiet trumpet approach with the ensemble. Slide guitarist Nakos Marker joined in 2023, sparking a creative surge that led to the nine song album Still Here.
