Joseph Eckert, author of THE TRAVELER

Brick & Mortar Books hosts local author Joseph Eckert for the release of his debut speculative time travel novel, The Traveler. The story centers on Scott Treder, who suddenly begins leaping ahead in time. What starts as a single lost day doubles again and again until weeks and years disappear in an instant. As Scott skips forward, his wife works to keep their life intact while their son, Lyle, races through school and delves into quantum physics in a determined effort to bring his father back. Eckert grew up in northern Wisconsin, studied history at the University of Wisconsin Madison, and earned a master’s in political science from the University of Iowa. He has been writing speculative fiction since high school and is drawn to portraying believable people in extraordinary situations, and he now lives in the Greater Seattle area with his family.

Eastside Coffee Outside Every Wednesday Morning

A casual outdoor coffee and tea meetup at Rotary Central Station Picnic Shelter offers conversation, snacks, and hot drinks, rain or shine, with no RSVP required. Anna shares fresh-baked vegan muffins. Dylan often brews different varieties of loose-leaf tea. Kurt brews regular and decaf coffee and brings hot water, tea bags, and hot cocoa packets. Dogs are welcome and can enjoy a treat. Attendees are free to stop by for as much or as little time as suits their schedule. Set along the Cross Kirkland Corridor, the spot is easy to reach whether walking, jogging, biking, or arriving by car. Reusable mugs are available, or participants can bring their own.
