GGX Edinburg Launch 🎸

Celebrate a week of rock-focused fitness with the launch of new LESMILLS classes alongside Zumba, Barre, and Yoga. These classes are open to the public, and friends are welcome.

Bracket 2 Commander

Take part in a Commander tournament at The Pocket using the Bracket 2 EDH ruleset. Entry is $5, the event runs on custom software, and top finishers receive a 125% store credit payout. The banlist follows the official banned and restricted list. Bracket 2 restrictions apply, including no cards from the Game Changers list, no intentional two-card infinite combos, and no broad land-denial strategies. Extra-turn effects should appear only sparingly and are not intended to be chained or looped, and tutors are kept to a minimum. Standings use a points system that awards 4 points for first, 3 for second, 2 for third, and 1 for fourth. Ties split the remaining points for the tied places. If time is called, each player takes one final turn, and any players still in the game share a tie. Among players with the same point total, seating and final placement are influenced by how quickly a table finishes compared with others.

Each session explores a focused topic, from ways to communicate more effectively with family, friends and health care professionals, to recognizing and responding to behavior changes as forms of communication using non medical approaches and knowing when to seek additional help. Additional sessions look at planning ahead by exploring care and support services, understanding the basics of Alzheimer’s and dementia including differences, stages, risk factors and treatments, and navigating the financial side of caregiving with tips for early planning. Empty the Shelters, Bissell Pet Foundation’s nationwide adoption initiative, returns to Palm Valley Animal Society with reduced fees available at both locations. The effort focuses on helping shelter pets find families by making the process more affordable. During this promotion, all adoption fees are discounted, and puppy and kitten fees drop from $100 to $50. Each adoption through Palm Valley includes the first round of vaccinations, a microchip, flea and heartworm prevention, and a spay or neuter voucher if the pet is not already altered. Adopters benefit from savings, the shelters see increased awareness and visitors, and animals move closer to a loving home.

Chona E brings her Hot Flash & Furious Comedy Tour to Cine El Rey. Her path includes training at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and Los Angeles and years devoted to marriage and motherhood, with the drive to perform never fading. UTRGV Baseball vs Incarnate Word

UTRGV Baseball wraps up the home regular season with a matchup against Incarnate Word at UTRGV Baseball Stadium. The day combines Senior Day, Public Employee Appreciation Day, and Family Fun Day, including a special recognition of the graduating senior class. Families can take advantage of a package that includes four general admission tickets, four drinks, and four hot dogs for $44. City, county, state, and federal employees receive complimentary general admission with a valid employee ID. Story Time with a Shelter Dog

Spend storytime with a shelter dog, and sometimes a cat, from Mission Animal Shelter while a children’s book is read aloud. This free, drop-in program is open to everyone. During the story, half of all sales are donated to Mission Animal Shelter. The visit gives select dogs a break from the shelter, encourages socialization, and helps highlight adoptable pets looking for permanent homes.

Deck construction follows Bracket 3 guidelines, allowing up to three cards from the Game Changers list. Settle in for a child-friendly read-aloud with a special guest from Mission Animal Shelter. A visiting shelter dog, and sometimes a cat, will be there as stories are shared. This weekly, drop-in gathering is free and open to everyone. During story hour, half of all sales are donated to Mission Animal Shelter. The visit gives selected dogs a break from the shelter, encourages socialization, and highlights adoptable pets who are looking for their forever homes.

The Joy of Play: Intro to Improv

Community First Responder Training

RGV CPR offers a hands-on training that helps adults build confidence in emergency response while keeping lifesaving skills accessible. Registered participants who are 18 or older will practice key techniques that include performing CPR, operating an AED, assisting a choking person, controlling severe bleeding with a tourniquet, and using naloxone in the event of an opioid overdose. A complimentary two-dose box of naloxone is provided. Instruction is led by a Texas Registered Nurse who holds CPR and First Aid instructor credentials from the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross. This session is for educational purposes only and does not provide certification, and it is independent of the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross. Anyone needing recognized credentials should pursue an official certification course.

100 Mile CHILD ABUSE Child Abuse Awareness Ride 2026

This 100 mile group ride brings together motorcyclists to raise awareness of child abuse and support the B.A.C.A. Rio Grande Valley mission. Participants gather at JABALI The Bikers Store/Stoggie’s Motorcycle Garage for a relaxed, no-fee ride with a few planned stops, including the Stripes gas station in Rio Grande City and Los Mesquites Biker Bar. The focus is on solidarity, purpose, and amplifying the voices of children who need support. Riders for Christ will be blessing motorcycles.

Freddy Gonzalez Legacy Run 5k in Honor of Derek Hernandez

The Freddy Gonzalez Legacy Run 5k at Edinburg Municipal Park honors Lance Corporal Derek Hernandez, a Marine from Edinburg, Texas who was 20 years old. He served with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, within the 1st Marine Division and I Marine Expeditionary Force based at Camp Pendleton, California, and lost his life while supporting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. This run is dedicated to his service and sacrifice.
