The Landmark is marking 90 years of discovery with special free classes for the public, including a workshop led by Sally Shelton titled SOS: Saving our Stuff. Shelton teaches preventive conservation in Texas Tech’s Heritage and Museum Science master’s program, is a graduate of Texas Tech’s Museum Sciences program, and brings over 40 years of experience in preventive conservation. She has also cared for her own family pieces and will share approachable methods to protect personal collections. Attendees are welcome to bring a family heirloom to discuss. In this context, an heirloom can be any meaningful item from your family that you want to preserve for the future. The session focuses on how to care for, store, and document treasured objects so they can be passed on to the next generation. Attendance is free, and space is limited to the first 25 people who register.

Develop essential skills for safe handling and accurate use of a semiautomatic handgun in a structured setting for those with some experience but no formal instruction. Instruction includes core safety practices, determining eye dominance, establishing a solid grip, aligning sights and achieving a clear sight picture, trigger press, and the correct procedures to load and unload the firearm. Geology Summer Camp (5-Day) 🪏

A hands on camp invites kids to explore the science beneath their feet through discovery and play. Participants investigate rocks and crystals, run experiments to learn how the planet works, and build a simple seismograph. They also grow crystals and examine a variety of rocks up close. In addition to the activities, there is creative, staff led play and time to enjoy the park with friends. The camp includes a snack and drink, hands on projects, themed activities, and plenty of fun. Tuition is $225, with a 10 percent discount for members. Space is limited.

2026 Coach Lozada Volleyball Training Camp

This volleyball camp takes place at Monterey and welcomes athletes entering kindergarten through ninth grade. Activities focus on learning and playing the game in a fun atmosphere. The fee is $65 per camper, and paid registrations submitted by the deadline include a camp T-shirt.

Space Science & Astronomy Camp (Ages 5–9)

Students delve into space science in a structured, hands-on STEM camp that builds foundational understanding of astronomy. Guided activities spark curiosity, strengthen observation skills, and encourage early scientific thinking. Across the week, participants explore age-appropriate topics such as planets, gravity, rockets, spacecraft, and what life is like for astronauts. Lessons break complex ideas into manageable steps through interactive instruction and practical exploration. Students take part in activities like designing and assembling simple model rockets, creating space habitat projects, investigating gravity with demonstrations, and studying the solar system. They also complete observation-centered tasks and approachable engineering design challenges inspired by space exploration. Every session emphasizes problem solving, creativity, and scientific reasoning as students test ideas, note their observations, and see how scientists and engineers explore space. This is an instructional class rather than childcare or a drop-in option, and all materials are provided.

Mini Masters Art Studio (Ages 5–9)

Students explore drawing, painting, and mixed media through guided projects that build core skills in a supportive classroom setting. Each session begins with instructor demonstrations, then moves into step-by-step projects that reinforce color mixing, texture, line, shape, composition, and introductory painting techniques. Lessons draw on the work of Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Alma Thomas, and Faith Ringgold to show how artists use color, movement, pattern, and storytelling. Over the course of the week, participants complete a range of structured artworks, from short studies to larger pieces developed over multiple sessions. All materials are provided.
