Conroe-Community Breast Ultrasound Screening

Access a convenient breast ultrasound screening in the event meeting room at Positively Unfiltered Body Salon. Provided by HerScan, this community service helps you add ultrasound to your regular breast health plan. Ultrasound can substantially improve detection, raising the chance of finding breast cancer from about 48 percent to as high as 97 percent, especially for those with dense breast tissue. It can also identify cancers that might not appear on a mammogram or be found during a physical exam. The visit is designed to be fast and comfortable. There is no radiation, it is safe for individuals with implants, and every exam is interpreted by a radiologist. No prescription is required. The screening includes imaging of both breasts and the underarm area, plus the radiologist’s reading, for $295, a service value that can be as high as $1,100. Appointments are available through HerScan at community health events like this one.

Lapsit Storytime

Lapsit Storytime at Central Library welcomes babies from birth to 18 months with their caregivers for gentle rhymes, simple songs, and playful finger motions designed for early engagement. Quietly seated older siblings may attend. The second half becomes a Stay and Play period, with age-appropriate toys set out for free, unstructured time. Admission is ticketed. Team Trivia

At Fass Brewing, free team trivia brings together rounds spanning general knowledge, pop culture, and creative-thinking challenges. Examples might include identifying a character played by Benedict Cumberbatch on television and Robert Downey Jr. in film, listing as many four-letter countries as possible, recalling the Beatles album named for a color with Ringo Starr singing the title track, or finding a pepper variety using only the letters in "INDEPENDENCE DAY." Prizes are awarded to the highest scoring teams.

Tuesday Night Trivia at Moose and Oak

Put your trivia skills to the test at Moose and Oak with a mix of general knowledge and pop culture. UPSILON SORORITY 4/28 COED MIXER WEEK! (IN PERSON)

During the organization’s quarterly Coed Mixer Week, every WGNO Sorority & Fraternity networking House welcomes adults for in-person connections. This gathering highlights the Willis and Conroe House, which is typically a women-focused networking group. Across the network, there are 23 Houses with over 500 seat holders. Each House reserves a single seat per industry so participants can collaborate and grow both personally and professionally.

Potato Gumbo

Jean Ciampi’s stage play blends warmth and irreverence while confronting the realities of aging and the shifting roles within a family. Gretchen entices Thomas with a culinary dream tied to the New Orleans School of Cooking, setting off plans that lead to a spur-of-the-moment road trip, a pair of stolen handcuffs, a police-escorted return, and a diagnosis that changes the conversation. Their grown children wrestle with how to protect the people who raised them without taking over, as questions arise about memory, the limits of a tired heart, and where care crosses into control. This production is presented through a special arrangement with Next Stage Press, LLC. Support comes from Acme Consulting, along with partial funding from the City of Conroe Arts & Culture Grant, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Clays for Kids - Clay Shoot Tournament

This friendly, challenging clay shooting tournament honors Aidan McSpadden and raises support for B.I.G. Love Cancer Care. Funds help provide physical, financial, and emotional assistance to pediatric cancer patients and their families at 10 hospitals across Texas. Posting Flags on I-45 Feeders

Community members are welcome to support The American Legion Post and Unit 618 as flags are placed along the I-45 feeder roads at the 1097 bridge in Willis. The group will begin at the H-E-B gas station, complete the H-E-B side first, then move to the Kroger side. More volunteers mean a quicker finish, and every bit of help is appreciated. In recognition of Memorial Day, the flags will remain on display for one month.

Land & Lake Dam Cruise

Drivers of every make and model are welcome on this car cruise. The route begins at the Conroe outlet mall parking area and follows I 45 to Willis, then turns east toward Coldspring along a mix of state and county roads through Sam Houston National Forest. A photo stop is planned at the Lake Livingston dam. From there, the drive continues north and east with lake views, East Texas forests and rolling hills, passing through Livingston and Onalaska before reaching Trinity for a lunch break at Algavales Mexican restaurant. The return leg heads south along the west side of the lake toward New Waverly, with scenery that includes Oak Hurst, Point Blank and more national forest. The day wraps up in New Waverly with options to head back to Conroe via I 45 or Highway 75 through Willis.

Crawfish Critic Cookoff & Festival

At Montgomery County Fairgrounds, the seventh annual Crawfish Critic Cook-Off pairs with the SCCA SUPERBOIL Crawfish World Championship for a spirited celebration of Cajun flavors, live music, and friendly competition. The festival welcomes crawfish fans, backyard boilers, and championship teams from across the South for a showcase of food, entertainment, and Southern culture leading up to the SCCA world title. This month, the teen book club features City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau, a national bestseller with over four million copies sold. Jurassic Quest - Conroe, TX

Jurassic Quest brings its massive traveling dinosaur experience to Conroe at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center. Explore towering, true-to-scale dinosaurs, take a ride on both walking and stationary dinos, and get an up-close look at a full-size T. rex skull alongside notable fossils such as authentic T. rex teeth and a Triceratops horn. The exhibit showcases standouts like a Spinosaurus stretching roughly 60 feet, an approximately 80-foot Apatosaurus, and a full-scale T. rex. Read to the Dogs

At the R.F. Meador Branch Library in Willis, children can build confidence by reading aloud to trained therapy dogs in a calm, supportive setting. Readers who complete ten books with a canine companion receive a free book. This program is presented in partnership with Pets with a Mission. Registration is required and opens one week before the session, and only the child who will be reading should be registered. It is designed for children who can read on their own or with a little assistance, while those not yet reading are welcome to enjoy books in the library with their caregivers. To keep the experience focused, each child reads privately with a dog for up to ten minutes and may take another ten-minute turn after rejoining the line. Children waiting for their first turn are given priority. Families are asked to wait in the designated area or outside the room, and anyone causing a disruption may be asked to step out. Participants may choose a library book or bring one from home. Upon arrival, please check in at the Children’s Desk to be added to the queue. Community members are welcome to assist as American Legion Post & Unit 618 places flags along the I-45 feeders at the 1097 bridge in Willis to honor Memorial Day. Volunteers will first meet at the H-E-B gas station, begin on the H-E-B side, then continue to the Kroger side. Extra hands help the work go quickly. The flags will remain on display for one month.

VFW4709 and American Legion 411 are teaming up for a community celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, designed to capture the feel of small town holiday fun for all ages. Plans include live music from Side Hustle, free hot dogs and soft drinks provided by the Conroe Knights of Columbus, a visit from the Conroe Fire Department with a fire truck and a cooling tent, a tomahawk throw for kids with a hoverboard grand prize, a cornhole tournament for adults, a silent auction with door prizes, Fry Daddy’s food truck, the K-star remote prize truck, and more. Details are still being finalized, and organizers are welcoming donations or prize items to support the silent auction and overall festivities.
