Fundamentals Level 1

Country Swing is known for being approachable, popular and practical, with a friendly community surrounding it. This Level 1 fundamentals class welcomes absolute beginners as well as dancers who want to strengthen their foundation and technique. It covers the essentials of Country Swing, starting with basic footwork and connection, then progressing through more than twenty fundamental moves. For April Fundamentals students, social dances are available for $5 at the door, and anyone enrolled in a four week Fundamentals class during April can take advantage of that offer.

Int/Adv Lindy Hop- April Series

Build your Lindy Hop at the intermediate and advanced level with a four-week series at Dance.Nashville led by Kristin Sorci and Krystin Larsen. Kristin teaches the first two sessions with challenging material, then Krystin continues the instruction for the following two weeks. Kristin is relocating to California soon, creating a timely opportunity to learn from her before she goes. This edition aligns with AutismTN’s 30th year of advocacy, impact, and community building across Middle Tennessee. Volunteer opportunities span many parts of the event, including community donation and auction item outreach, auction data entry and logistics, set up and load out, check in and check out, guest services, auction assistance with live spotters, serving as mission and program ambassadors, event breakdown and cleaning, and unloading after the event. Pokemon League Challenge

Pokemon players can compete in a League Challenge run in the Standard format. Decklists must be filled out before registration. Registration takes place on-site, and entries after the registration window will be treated as late. Matches follow Swiss rounds with best-of-one pairings. Entry is $10. Prizing includes 2 Entry Packs, and one pack per participant is added to the prize pool. Championship points are guaranteed for the top 4, with the possibility of points extending to lower placements if attendance increases.

Yoga at the Donelson Branch

Experience a welcoming, basic yoga class at Nashville Public Library - Donelson. Beginners are encouraged, and mats are available, though participants may bring their own. The session is led by Richard, who started practicing in Nashville around 1974 at the downtown YMCA with instructor Bill Kuckler. Encouraged by his teacher, he earned a teaching license around 1990 and began leading classes at the Downtown YMCA. After retiring from a stockbroker career in 2010, he began teaching at the Donelson Library and at Donelson 50 Forward, and he continues to share his practice with the community here.

Devon Allman’s Blues Summit

Devon Allman’s Blues Summit brings the Devon Allman Project together with Jimmy Hall and Larry McCray for a powerhouse night of blues and rock. Raised within the Allman Brothers Band legacy, Devon Allman showcases guitar work and songwriting that honor Southern roots while continuing to evolve the sound. Larry McCray contributes his soulful vocals and expressive guitar, drawing on early years in Arkansas and Michigan and a career that fuses blues, rock, and soul. The show opens with Ghalia Volt, performing as a one-woman band by playing kick, snare, hi hat, and tambourine with her feet while delivering slide guitar and vocals, following prior collaborations across the American roots scene on albums including Let The Demons Out and Mississippi Blend. Seating options include reserved seats on the main floor with a direct view of the stage. Loft-level suites include eight tickets with plush couch seating and tables, plus six seats at the front of the suite that look out over the stage. Loft-level loveseats include two tickets on a reserved loveseat with a drink table and a front-facing view. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and parking will be available onsite and nearby the venue.

Ari Matti Mustonen brings high-energy storytelling and sharp punchlines to Zanies Nashville. The Estonian-born, Austin-based comic draws on a childhood in Eastern Europe and 12 years of performing around the world, pairing easy charm with a clear point of view. After a year in Vancouver he moved from feature to headliner at Yuk Yuks and The Comedy Mix, and he self-produced his hour, “Imported Goods,” at the Rio Theater, selling 350 tickets. Head Motion Workshop + May Social

Nashville Zouk presents an intermediate Brazilian Zouk intensive focused on head motion with instructors Alison and Demian, followed by a Brazilian Zouk social with a splash of Kizomba and Konpa. The workshop takes place at Global Education Center, and the social is hosted at Nashville Salsa Dancing in Studio B while a salsa and bachata social runs in the main room, with the option to move between rooms. As a kid, he kept his family entertained by imitating favorites from shows like The Carol Burnett Show, Sanford and Son, and Three's Company, a habit that grew into a defining part of his act. His one-hour Showtime special "Tales of Nuyorican" celebrates his roots and everyday adventures, and a sold-out tour with singer Marc Anthony broadened his reach. He has delivered family friendly material on American Family Insurance's "Stand Up For Family" hosted by Bill Bellamy, and he has supported causes that include the Make a Wish Foundation and the VIP Drug Rehabilitation Centers in the Bronx, along with performances for U.S. military personnel overseas. Television audiences also saw him on NBC's Emmy-winning "30 Rock", which helped spark further industry interest. He later sold a sitcom based on his life to Warner Bros. and FOX with George Lopez producing, and the project is in development. Historian Dr. Kristofer Ray leads a Lunch and Learn exploring how familiar stories about the American Revolution, including the frontier thesis associated with Jackson Turner and the belief that independence was unavoidable, have shaped public understanding while sidelining Native peoples. Focusing on 1763 to 1783, the talk centers Indigenous perspectives on the trans-Appalachian region and reexamines George Rogers Clark’s expeditions. It tackles two connected questions: how the Revolution affected Native Nations, and how Native Nations influenced the Revolution in return. There are no weight classes or gender categories and a welcoming atmosphere for every body. Lifters of any experience level can participate, whether pulling 95 pounds or 495 pounds. Spectators are welcome to cheer, with vendors, a raffle, and an afterparty following the main event. All proceeds support Trans Aid Nashville, Nashville Launch Pad, and Healing in the Margins. The fundraising goal is $25,000, building on last year’s total of $12,439.
