Be Active and MOVE! Physical Activity Program for Veterans

This 8-week Be Active and MOVE! physical activity series supports Veterans in building healthier habits through consistent exercise and practical lifestyle changes. Each session highlights simple ways to weave movement into everyday routines, with goals that include lasting weight management, increased strength, and overall wellness. Instruction may draw on kinesiotherapy principles, introducing activities like gait training, endurance building, and work tolerance, along with techniques that reduce injury risk and make daily tasks safer to perform. Participants can also explore body mechanics and strategies that carry over to real life at home and on the job. The series follows national recommendations for activity, encouraging a weekly target of at least 150 minutes of moderate movement plus strength and balance work. Regular participation can benefit both physical and mental health, helping Veterans build resilience and enhance quality of life. Sessions take place at the Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center in the Administration Building on the first floor, Room BW128. To enroll or ask questions, contact your MOVE! team or call Casey Provo at 901-523-8990.
