MBAHA Trio

Now in its seventeenth year, the Trio Coastal Culinary Experience brings together teams of three, pairing a professional chef with one college student and one high school student to collaborate on an original meal. Alongside the cuisine, local mixologists craft custom cocktails, with beer and wine also available, while live music from the Chocolate Chip band sets the tone throughout the evening. Created to champion the culinary arts, the event provides students with hands-on experience, and a portion of the proceeds supports the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association’s scholarship funds for hospitality and culinary education.

AUDITIONS: I Hate Hamlet

Auditions are being held for the stage comedy I Hate Hamlet at Long Bay Theatre Studio in Myrtle Beach. Please note the studio is in Myrtle Beach, not North Myrtle Beach. The play follows television actor Andrew Rally, whose series has just been canceled as he lands the opportunity to play Hamlet in Central Park. He is living in a New York apartment once occupied by John Barrymore, and after his agent reminisces about a past romance with the famous actor, a séance brings Barrymore’s ghost into Andrew’s life. The legendary spirit urges Andrew to accept the Shakespearean role, while a fast-talking friend from Los Angeles tempts him with a lucrative new TV project. The story unfolds as a comic tug-of-war as Andrew contends with stage fright, swordplay, conflicting advice, and a faltering Hamlet debut. Roles being cast include Andrew Rally, his girlfriend Deirdre McDavey who is determined to wait for marriage, his agent Lillian Troy who recalls an affair with Barrymore, the flamboyant ghost of John Barrymore himself, Felicia Dantine the real estate broker with a flair for séances, and Gary Peter Lefkowitz, the confident producer pushing Andrew back toward Hollywood.

One Irish Rover pays homage to Van Morrison with a performance that spans six decades of music, guided by passionate vocalist Pat Garvey. His connection to the material dates back to 1967, and years of close listening to every album and recording inform a rendition that aims to capture the spiritual core and rhythmic flair of Van’s sound. The show blends blues, soul, and rock into a Celtic soul brew, delivered with heartfelt vocals and jazzy touches. Presented in an intimate setting with the cozy feel of an Irish pub at the Legacy Theatre, it creates a warm, song-filled atmosphere. Expect favorites like “Brown Eyed Girl,” “Moondance,” “Into the Mystic,” “Have I Told You Lately,” “Gloria,” “Wild Night,” “Tupelo Honey,” and “Domino,” along with deeper cuts from across the catalog. Soft Light & Living Color: A Pastel Journey with Nick Santaniello (Saturday Morning Series)

Explore pastels in a four week workshop led by artist Nick Santaniello, open to complete beginners and experienced creators. Drawing inspiration from impressionists such as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Edgar Degas, the series emphasizes noticing light and atmosphere, then conveying mood and color on paper. Instruction is step by step and supportive, with a focus on finding your rhythm, building confidence, and treating creativity as a calm refuge. Across four sessions, you will progress from concept to a finished piece. The first class introduces materials, planning, and quick value studies to strengthen drawing and composition. The second develops an underdrawing and refines the structure of your scene. The third turns to color theory and layered application to create depth, texture, and a sense of air. The final session focuses on refinement and completion, with guidance and feedback in a welcoming environment. Weather allowing, one class may move outdoors for a plein air experience to study natural light and color. This series suits anyone curious about pastels, artists eager to loosen up into an impressionistic approach, and those seeking a mindful creative reset. Tuition is $260 for the four week program. A supply list is provided after registration.

2026 - Draw (or paint) the human figure

This course focuses on drawing or painting the human figure through a classical approach, pairing live demonstrations with practical study from a live model. Instruction emphasizes traditions of the old masters with attention to composition, clean proportion block-ins, and the step-by-step development of form and volume. The format blends recurring group study with two one-on-one critique and planning meetings that are scheduled together, then leaves room for independent work in a personal studio to develop four to twelve original figurative pieces over the course of the program. Space is limited to ensure ample time and support for each participant.

Magical Mommy & Me Painting Experience

At Spring into Discovery at Discovery School, Enchanted Artistry presents a Mommy and Me painting activity where children create a small 4 by 4 canvas gift for their mom. Before brushing on color, little artists give the canvas a hug and make a wish for her, turning a simple craft into a meaningful moment. Each canvas is $10. Families who are short on time can pick up prepared take home kits to do the project later. While kids paint, moms can browse a cozy spa corner featuring locally made candles, soaps, and oils from Strawberry Moon Ancestral Market. The larger event includes food, vendors, and plenty of activities, and it is helping raise funds for a new multi sport court for the kids. Admission is free.

Energized Breathwork Experience

An energizing, guided breathwork session invites the Myrtle Beach community to awaken their energy and reconnect from within. Open to every experience level, it creates a welcoming space to breathe, move, release tension, and settle into a clearer, calmer state. Expect a natural boost in vitality and focus, relief from stress held in the body, and a deeper sense of presence and connection. The experience explores how intentional breathing supports the nervous system by shifting the body from stress toward balance, improving oxygen efficiency, sharpening concentration, and allowing emotional release. It also shares the potential benefits of practicing by the ocean, where fresh sea air may lift mood, the sound of waves can soothe the brain, and sunlight and contact with the sand support overall regulation. Breathing together in a group fosters co-regulation and a feeling of safety and support, with the possibility of synchronized heart rhythms that can deepen the practice. This offering is donation based, with a minimum suggested contribution of 22 or 33 dollars. Contributions help cover the care that goes into the gathering, including items such as mats and blankets and the guidance provided throughout. All are welcome to arrive as they are and give in a way that feels aligned.

Glass Blowing Experience

Take part in a hands-on glassblowing class with guided instruction. Create an aqua tube, or cut the piece to turn it into a one-of-a-kind ornament. Choose your color combination, learn how to add color and apply heat, and blow through a glass tube to shape your work. Finished ornaments are typically around the size of a clementine, sometimes a bit smaller. Many participants are not professional glassblowers, so shapes may come out quirky and unplanned. Participants must be 18 or older and register in advance. Arrival on time is required. For safety, wear short sleeves, avoid loose jewelry, tie back long hair, and use closed-toe shoes. Class size is limited for individual attention and safety. Plan for an approximately 20 minute annealing and cooling period before pieces can be packed. Payment is required in advance and there are no refunds. One date change is allowed with at least seven days notice. There are no makeups for missed classes. Pricing is two tubes for $50, with the option to purchase one additional tube at the event for $15.

If the class is canceled, a text message may be sent to notify participants. After the session, pieces are fired and are typically ready to paint in about two to three weeks, with a text sent to the phone number provided once the project is ready. Because ceramics can be unpredictable during making, drying, firing, and glazing, finished results cannot be guaranteed. No refunds or credits are offered for mishaps or outcomes that are less than ideal. Every effort is made for a successful experience, and variability is part of the ceramic process for all potters.

Awesome 80s Summer Solstice Beach Run presented by Moe Moon's

Celebrate the start of summer with a nostalgic beachfront run full of 80s flair. The Awesome 80s Summer Solstice Beach Run presented by Moe Moon’s begins on the sand by Plyler Park, heads north for roughly half a mile, then turns back to finish on the beach. This is an untimed experience with no overall or age group awards, and a finish clock will be on display. After crossing the line, enjoy music, food, and a relaxed gathering at Plyler Park. Each participant receives a hot dog, chips, and a soda or water courtesy of Moe Moon’s. Costumes are encouraged, and anyone dressed in 80s attire will be entered into a special costume raffle. Bring a beach towel and settle in for a casual picnic as the sun sets along the Myrtle Beach shoreline. Course monitors will guide the way, and the start and finish remain on sand regardless of the tide. For safety and fairness, animals, baby joggers, strollers, skateboards, roller blades, bicycles, and any other wheeled devices are not permitted on the course and violations will result in disqualification. Registration is available online only. Packet pickup will be offered at Native Sons and at Plyler Park. Participants receive a bib, an event shirt while supplies last, and a finisher medal. The event supports Help 4 Kids/Backpack Buddies, which provides food for children in Horry County. Donations of kid-friendly, single-serve and shelf-stable items are welcome, including single serve cereal and oatmeal, mac and cheese cups, bread, peanut butter and jelly, pudding cups, unfrozen popsicles, cheese crackers, single serve chips, canned pasta, Vienna sausages, granola bars, and drink mixes. Raffle prizes and costume raffle winners will be announced after the run.
