It also covers tax‑favored investing, including how to navigate tax rules and a six‑step Macro Balance Strategy aimed at improving retirement readiness and diversification. Western Carolina Antique Tractor Pull

Antique tractors take center stage at Western Carolina State Fair Foundation during a pull and show presented by the Aiken Antique Power Association and the Palmetto Tractor Club. The program features an opening ceremony followed by the tractor pull, a children's pedal tractor pull, and additional activities for kids throughout the day. Komyo Reiki Do Shoden First Degree Training

Rooted in Japanese tradition, Reiki Ryoho is a spiritual healing practice dedicated to cultivating inner peace. This first degree, or Shoden, training introduces the foundations needed to practice personally and to offer care to close family, friends, and pets. The curriculum explores the history of Reiki and its traditional Japanese approach, presents the Five Reiki Principles, teaches meditation methods within the system, and provides practical guidance for self healing. Participants also receive reiju, an attunement that supports their practice. The class emphasizes each person’s individual healing journey, and the teacher-student relationship is treated as a meaningful partnership with support that continues after the course.

Equine Health and Emergency First Aid (Dragonfly Farm) Private Class Only

Spend a full day building practical equine health and emergency first aid skills with hands-on work alongside horses. Learn how to relay critical information to a veterinarian, help a horse accept care, take accurate vital signs, and respond to situations such as cuts, punctures, colic, choke, collapse, casting, shock, and hoof problems. The class also covers recognizing pain, common sources and ways to relieve it, spinal health, and strategies to prevent injuries, with ample time for guided practice. Participants receive a certificate of completion and a comprehensive first aid manual, and this course serves as the required foundation before the advanced level. Please bring a portable chair, a notebook with a pen or pencil, and a packed lunch so the group can remain on site. Snacks and water are provided. Open to ages 15 and up, enrollment is limited to around 12 people to ensure plenty of hands-on participation. The fee is $169 per person, with payment accepted via Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or PayPal. Hitchcock Woods Bluebird Box Monitoring Field Trip

Explore the world of bluebirds on a guided field outing with the Hitchcock Woods Foundation and the South Carolina Bluebird Society. Participants will move between nest boxes, record observations at each site, and contribute those findings to broader community science efforts focused on nesting behavior and habitat use. Registration is required, and carpooling is encouraged to reduce parking demand. For comfort and safety, consider wearing sturdy walking or hiking shoes and bring sunscreen, a hat, water, and snacks. Binoculars and a camera are also helpful for spotting and documenting activity. Hitchcock Woods, located in Aiken, South Carolina, spans 2,100 acres and features 70 miles of trails through mature pine and bottomland hardwood forests that support a wide range of plants and wildlife. The property is owned and managed by the Hitchcock Woods Foundation, is protected in perpetuity by a conservation easement held by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and is designated as a South Carolina Heritage Preserve Trust site.

Auditions are being held for Ken Ludwig’s comedic take on the Robin Hood legend, directed by David Skeen. This production features a large ensemble with roles open to a wide range of ages, genders, and backgrounds. Most parts include some level of stage combat, making it an energetic and physical show, and it is a welcoming choice for those new to auditioning. Character needs include Robin Hood, a big-hearted rogue in his 20s to 40s with extensive combat; Marian, Robin’s partner who ultimately proves the true hero, also with extensive combat and in her 20s to 40s; Sir Guy, a swaggering and ruthless antagonist in his 20s to 60s with some combat; the Sheriff, Sir Guy’s comic henchman in his 20s to 60s with some combat; Friar Tuck, who also narrates and has some combat, in his 20s to 60s; Deorwynn, Marian’s rival for Robin’s attention, in her 20s to 40s with some combat; Little John, a warm-hearted warrior in his 20s to 50s with extensive combat and a romantic arc with Deorwynn; and Prince John, a royal fond of literary flourishes in his 30s to 60s. About twenty additional roles are available and may be double cast or more depending on turnout. Members of the youth wing are encouraged to audition. Attendees should arrive with a completed audition form.

Registration takes place first, followed by a shotgun start. Participation supports a Piedmont Augusta initiative that expands access to low-dose CT, or LDCT, lung cancer screening for people who are underinsured or uninsured and for those with limited access to preventive care. Detecting lung cancer early with LDCT can improve survival and reduce long-term treatment costs. Support helps cover the cost of the screening, physician interpretation and follow-up visits, care coordination and navigation, and education about lung health and screening.

Sandhill Stroll: Migratory Bird Walk

This family-friendly migratory bird walk, hosted by the Hitchcock Woods Foundation, celebrates World Migratory Bird Day in Hitchcock Woods. Education & Grants Coordinator Heather Levy will lead a leisurely outing focused on spotting both migrating and breeding birds. Participants will meet at the Stable on the Woods entrance and follow an approximately two mile loop on sandy trails with varied grades. The pace will be relaxed with plenty of stops for observation. Registration is required, and carpooling is highly encouraged. There are no public restrooms and no water refill stations, so plan ahead. Suggested items include comfortable walking or hiking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, water, snacks, binoculars, a camera, the iNaturalist and Merlin Bird ID apps, and a notebook with a pen or pencil for recording observations. Hitchcock Woods, owned and managed by the Hitchcock Woods Foundation, is the largest urban forest in the United States at 2,100 acres and is open daily from sunrise to sunset. With 70 miles of trails through mature pine and bottomland hardwood forests, it supports a diversity of plants and wildlife and is protected in perpetuity by a conservation easement held by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources as a designated South Carolina Heritage Preserve Trust site.

Night Out presents Screen Sanity

A community evening created for parents and kids features two parallel experiences. Children take part in Kidz Creek, a lively program with games, activities, and attentive care in a safe setting. At the same time, parents settle into guided table conversations about technology and family life, connecting with others and gathering practical strategies for handling screens at home. Dinner is provided. Parents enjoy a backyard-style cookout with burgers and hotdogs, and children are served hotdogs during their program. This is not a drop-off occasion. Radioactive Monthly Dose Pinball Tournament

Radioactive Pinball Arcade hosts a monthly IFPA rated pinball tournament built around competitive group match play. Players complete six rounds of group play, then, depending on turnout, either the top 16 or the top 8 advance to quarterfinal and semifinal rounds with two games in each round. The final four competitors meet in a two game final to determine placements. Admission is $20 and includes access to the arcade with all machines on free play. The tournament fee is $10, which is paid into a cash prize pool for the top four finishers, and the arcade covers the IFPA one dollar fee.

2026 New Vocations All-Thoroughbred Charity Horse Show

New Vocations presents its 23rd annual all-Thoroughbred charity horse show at Highfields Event Center, highlighting the breed’s versatility and athleticism through a weekend of competition. The show includes disciplines such as hunter jumper, combined tests, dressage, western dressage, in hand, and a selection of fun classes, with more planned. A prize list will be available soon. Stalls and RV hook-ups are limited. A Welcome Reception is also planned, with additional details to come.

Right Start Driving Academy Permit Class

Having trouble with the DMV knowledge or permit exam? This permit class provides a guided two-hour review, then gives you the chance to take the knowledge test right after. Students enrolled in the Teen Driver Class may attend the permit class at no cost. If you pass, you will receive your results in a sealed packet to take to the DMV, where they will complete a vision check, take your photo, and issue a South Carolina beginner's permit. This service is available only to United States citizens who have never previously held a beginner's permit. Bring a birth certificate if you are in high school, or a South Carolina state ID, to verify identity. Passing is not guaranteed, and the South Carolina DMV may randomly call applicants back for retesting. Space is limited, and online registration is available.

GDCTA & Area 3 YR Eventing Summer Camp

Set at Stable View Farm, this summer camp offers riders a week focused on fun, confidence building, new friendships, and memorable experiences. Activities center on riding, learning, and a supportive community atmosphere. Participation requires a non-refundable $350 deposit at registration, submission of the Application/Entry Form and two of the three required waivers to Joanne, and arranging housing either through her or independently. The Application/Entry Form is required for all participants, and waivers are required for Stable View, GDCTA, and USEA, with the Stable View waiver completed electronically. Auditors are welcome with advance registration, with options priced at $50 per day or $125 for three days.
