Shadows of the Past: Providence Ghost Tours on the Water

Glide into Providence’s storied past with a waterside collaboration from Providence Ghost Tours, the city’s longest running ghost tour company. Master storytellers share centuries of eerie history as you cruise in an open air vessel along the downtown waterways after dark. Under moonlit bridges and beside cobblestone paths and centuries old architecture, hear chilling accounts of writers and everyday residents whose spirits are said to still linger in the city they once knew. The blend of live narration and nighttime views creates an outing that is equal parts atmospheric and spine tingling. Expect tales drawn from Providence’s haunted history told by expert guides, a guided cruise through shadowy, historic channels, and moody skyline vistas by moonlight. This popular experience often fills quickly, so advance reservations are recommended. Suggested for ages 10 and up. Departure times vary throughout the season and are planned around sunset.

Ink & Echo: The Creative Current

Poetry, live music, and creative connection fill the rooftop of the WaterFire Arts Center as Ink & Echo: The Creative Current activates WaterFire’s America Unfinished exhibition. The evening begins with a curated unplugged social hour with no phones, creating space for conversation before performances and moments of artist and audience interaction. Admission is free with a suggested donation beginning at $10. Every $5 contributed counts as an automatic entry in a local community raffle, and all proceeds directly support the performers. Tipping the artists is encouraged. The program features Monica D. Vance, Justice Ameer, Christopher Cardoso, Jessi Bankston, Chris Collado, known as Kleen, Rebecca N. Mancini, and Kou Tukala Nyan. Ameer is a Providence poet, facilitator, and political educator, co-founder of blackearth collective + lab and a two-time Providence Grand Slam champion, with work in POETRY magazine, The Nation, and The BreakBeat Poets Vol. 2. Bankston, a Rhode Island singer and songwriter, blends classic blues roots from the American South with Ghanaian rhythms to craft songs that invite hope and reflection. Cardoso, a Boston poet, channels lived experience and struggle into rhythmically charged pieces about resilience and self-realization. Collado is a Providence emcee focused on vulnerability, growth, and agile flow and vocabulary. Mancini, a Rhode Island singer and performer with a warm, calming tone, invites audiences to participate and is currently exploring teaching and beekeeping, bringing her own honey to this collaborative showcase. Vance is an LICSW therapist, writer, and poet whose work has been shared at open mics across Rhode Island and Massachusetts, drawing on trauma- and attachment-informed perspectives to encourage creatives. Guiding the evening is host Kou Tukala Nyan, a creative producer, journalist, and performer, a published author and RISCA Make Art Grant recipient, founder of Project Overflo and co-founder of black earth collective + lab, who curates community spaces and workshops in Rhode Island. The Creative Current centers authentic gathering away from digital noise, using music and spoken word to uplift words, people, and connections while drawing Providence together.

Beginner Butterfly Stained Glass Workshop

At Ted's Stadium Kitchen and Pub, beginners can dive into stained glass by creating a butterfly plant stake. Materials and patterns are prepared in advance, so the focus stays on making. Choose from several color combinations and add a dangling crystal bead accent. The session starts with a brief overview of safety and essential tools, then moves into hands-on work with pre-cut glass and preparation for assembly. Participants learn the copper foil method, wrapping edges for clean results, followed by soldering to bring the butterfly together with neat lines and sturdy construction. Once assembled, the piece is hung from a metal hook for display in a plant or garden, and simple finishing steps cover cleaning, polishing, and checking durability. By the end, participants take home a finished butterfly stake, practical experience with foiling and soldering, and added confidence for future stained glass projects. Space is limited to seven seats. Because kits are preordered and spots are limited, registrations are nonrefundable.

The Nourishing Dancers Workshop

The Nourishing Dancers Workshop is an add-on to the Creative Hope Summer Intensive, offering a three-day series that cares for the whole dancer. The program focuses on nutrition, mindset, confidence, and personal growth so participants can perform at a high level while feeling strong, connected, and empowered in their training. The first session centers on fueling and caring for the body with evidence-based guidance, including building balanced meals, sustaining energy with smart snacks, practicing self-care, and cultivating gratitude for one’s body. The second session turns aspirations into concrete steps, using reflection, visualization, and journaling to clarify motivations, set clear goals, and grow confidence in both dance and life. The third session supports a healthier relationship with the dance body through tools for body neutrality, self-compassion, resilient thinking, and a more supportive inner dialogue. Rooted in The Nourished Dancer approach, these workshops meet dancers where they are and provide practical, research-informed strategies that help them integrate what they learn and thrive on stage and beyond. Instruction is led by Nicole Sabella, a dance professional who spent ten years touring internationally with the Mark Morris Dance Group, a dedicated educator, a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, a certified EFT Tapping Practitioner, and a wellness workshop facilitator. As the founder of The Nourished Dancer, she has guided dancers since 2020 through one-on-one coaching and group workshops.
