Star Spangled Scramble 2026

A festive, patriotic-themed 18-hole twilight and night golf scramble marks its fifth year. The front nine is played at twilight with standard balls, then the back nine continues after dark using glow balls for an illuminated finish. Teams compete in a shotgun-start, four-player scramble, with captains selecting the best shot after each stroke. The field is limited to 18 teams. Entry is $220 per team of four, or $55 per player. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place, along with closest-to-the-pin contests on holes 3 and 7. Glow balls are included for each foursome, and extras can be purchased from the clubhouse or the beverage cart. Glow balls activate when light is shined on the sensor and remain lit until switched off. Motorized carts are not permitted for this tournament, and a limited number of push carts will be available on a first come, first served basis. Patriotic attire is encouraged, and a best-dressed prize will be awarded. Check-in includes the option to purchase dinner, which is not included in the tournament fee. The event will be held rain or shine, is open to participants ages 4 and up, and only registered players are allowed on the course during tournament play. Passes are nonrefundable within the final week before the event, though a waitlist may allow a refund if the spot is filled.

This second annual memorial golf tournament honors founders Joe and Vera O’Meara with a day on the course and a clubhouse tribute that includes memorabilia and a slideshow. Community Mending Circle

Pull up a chair for a hands-on mending circle where practical skills and quiet conversation are shared from one pair of hands to another. Bring well-loved clothing, linens, or bags that need repair and work on them in community while learning as you go and helping keep time-honored techniques alive. The participation fee is $5, which includes access to communal materials and basic supplies. Attendance is limited to 10 people, and the gathering welcomes ages 12 and up. Participants are encouraged to bring items to fix along with helpful extras like woven scrap fabric for patches, darning yarn suited to the garment, embroidery floss, matching thread, and a camp chair. If you have tools, you are welcome to bring sewing and darning needles, small scissors or snips, pins or safety pins, a thimble, a hoop for darning or visible mending, or a darning egg. Shared basics such as needles, thread, patch fabric, yarn, embroidery floss, pins, small tools, and simple guidance will be available to support your project. Grip'n Glow Night Golf Tournament

Glow-in-the-dark golf takes center stage with a 4-person, 9-hole scramble and a shotgun start. Teams check in, enjoy a bite, gather for a group photo on the 4th tee, then head to assigned holes to get underway. Entry is $40 per player or $160 per foursome. Each team receives five glow balls with registration, provided by Killarney West, and extra balls can be purchased at the clubhouse or from the beverage cart for $10 each. Food details will be announced. Awards include first, second, and third place, plus KP winners on holes 3 and 7. Glow attire is encouraged. Drive carts are not permitted for night golf, and the tournament will be held rain or shine. Wind down with bedtime Yoga Nidra accompanied by chakra chimes. Begin the next day with a deep stretch flow and meditation, then savor a nourishing brunch bar and a calming tea ceremony. Journal prompts are offered to support reflection and dreaming throughout the retreat. Each guest is provided a cozy, supportive airbed. Guests should bring their own sheets, pillows, and blankets, along with a swimsuit, towel, or robe for swimming and the floating sound bath. Capacity is limited to 10 participants. Rated PG and shown in English, the film follows Barry B. Benson, a bee fresh out of college who is unhappy with a single career path of making honey. After Vanessa, a New York florist, saves him during a trip outside the hive, their growing friendship leads Barry to discover that humans eat honey, prompting him to take legal action. The movie begins after dark. This event also celebrates the community’s designation as Oregon’s ninth Bee City, with additional activities, community partner booths, and opportunities to learn and connect. Summer Nights Glow Ball Tournament 2026

Enjoy a night of glow ball with a 4-person, 9-hole scramble and a shotgun start. Registration is $40 per person or $160 per foursome. Each group receives five glow balls provided by Killarney West, and additional balls can be purchased at the clubhouse or from the beverage cart for $10 each. The schedule includes check-in, a group photo on the 4th tee, a walk to starting holes, then play begins. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, along with KP awards on holes 3 and 7. Food details will be announced. Wear your brightest glow attire. Driving carts are not permitted during night play. The event runs rain or shine. Passes are nonrefundable if canceled within one week of the event, though a refund will be issued if a waitlist replacement is found. Ages 4 and up are welcome. Experience Theatre Project returns with the End of Summer Carnivale, a festive celebration of Washington County creatives in a welcoming, family friendly carnival setting. Dash Paddle Bash Pickleball Tournament

Forest Grove Parks & Recreation presents the inaugural Dash Paddle Bash Pickleball Tournament, a mixed doubles event that supports the Fun For All Fund, the department’s financial assistance program. Entry is $45 per mixed doubles team, and the tournament takes place at Rogers Park across a full weekend of friendly competition. Teams are organized by age and skill level, with awards for the top three finishers in each division. The setting is family friendly, featuring food trucks, music, and plenty of pickleball activity. Families can also enjoy time at Anna & Abby’s Yard and visit a nearby Kid Zone staffed by Recreation team members offering light crafts and activities. The Kid Zone is not a childcare service, and children must remain under the supervision of a parent or guardian. All proceeds benefit the Fun For All Fund.

A weekend tournament brings golfers together for a friendly rivalry between Vernonia and Killarney West. The field features 18 two-person teams for each side, competing in a 36-hole scramble played over two days. Each day includes check-in, a group photo, a walk to assigned holes, and a shotgun start. The entry fee is $100 per person. Cash and skills prizes are available, with $500 to the first-place team along with awards for second and third, KP contests, and long drive. Candi’s Kitchen will be on site at Vernonia and Killarney West, and food purchases are not included in the pass. The tournament is rain or shine. Tuesday Night Fall League 2026

This eight week fall league features a two person scramble format with weekly chances to win cash. Each pair meets a different twosome every week, and all skill levels are welcome. There is a one time registration fee of $25 per person. The weekly cost is $20, which covers green fees, Payball for Net and Gross, and KP’s. All players are automatically entered into the side games, and each KP winner receives a $10 credit for use in the Pro Shop. Teams earn one point per hole won and three points for winning overall Net strokes, plus one bonus point for attendance each week, for a maximum of 13 points per team per week. The eighth week is a position round with 1st vs 2nd, 3rd vs 4th, and so on. The points leader at the end is crowned champion, and places 1 through 4 receive cash prizes.

Pitcher Plants and Waterwise Wonders

Presented by the Washington County Master Gardener Association as part of the In the Garden Series, this workshop explores carnivorous and drought-tolerant plants. Discover the specialized structures of pitcher plants and compare them with waterwise species, focusing on the varied forms, textures, and adaptations that help them thrive with limited moisture. Learn where some of these plants originate, the conditions they prefer, and practical ways to grow and care for them. The session also introduces nature journaling, using simple prompts and basic supplies to help you observe more closely, sketch details, and write about what you notice. A guided tour visits the Learning Garden’s pitcher plant bed and an area dedicated to waterwise plantings, with time to journal along the way. Bring a journal, pens, and pencils if you have them, or use the paper and drawing and writing materials provided. No prior nature journaling experience is required.
