Hayden Homes AmphitheaterCalenda Mezcal and Bozal Mezcal | Newport Market Tasting
Enjoy a mezcal tasting in the Spirit Shop inside Newport Market featuring pours from Bozal Mezcal and Calenda Mezcal. The selections are made from wild agave that grows on steep mountainsides in Oaxaca, Guerrero, and Durango, with flavors that lean smoky and earthy and reflect their regions. Traditional methods are used throughout, including roasting agave hearts in earthen pit ovens, crushing with a tahona stone wheel, natural open air fermentation, and double distillation. The lineup includes Bozal Ensamble along with either the Tepeztate or Cempasúchil expression, offering a chance to compare distinctive styles in Bend.
Newport Avenue MarketKids Woodworking Cutting Boards (Ages 11-17)
Young makers get a welcoming introduction to woodworking in this hands-on class. Guided by experienced instructors, participants use age-appropriate, kid-safe tools to measure, shape, sand, and finish a one-piece, child-sized cutting board. The session blends practical skills with creative choice, inviting each student to personalize their board by selecting a silhouette, adding a rounded handle, or fine-tuning the smoothness of the final surface. All supplies are provided, including the wood plank, sanding tools, and finishing oils, so the focus stays on safe tool use and learning by doing. By the end, every participant takes home a functional cutting board they crafted themselves, a practical keepsake that marks their first steps in the woodshop.
