TRIVIA at The Parting Glass Pub!
At The Parting Glass Pub, this trivia showdown spans seven rounds that mix brainteasers with pop culture and music. Expect general knowledge questions, a picture round that tests keen eyes, a themed miscellaneous segment, a music and karaoke-inspired challenge, history and geography, and entertainment. The competition wraps with a timed final showdown built around one multi-answer question that can earn big points. Players may compete solo or as a team, and larger groups can combine more knowledge. Top teams receive prizes, most likely a gift card, free drinks, or swag from distributors.
The Parting Glass PubOpen Mic
A welcoming weekly open mic at the Caffe invites performers of all ages and styles, with original material encouraged but not required. This long-running tradition has earned multiple Best Of honors from Metroland Magazine, The Alt Weekly, The Saratogian Reader’s Poll, and Saratoga’s Fab Five, and the room is known for keeping full attention on the stage. Sign-up is first come, first served. Performers typically share up to two songs. House instruments include a Yamaha studio upright acoustic piano and an acoustic Martin guitar, and MP3 backing tracks can be played through the sound system. Amps and drums are allowed, with setup and breakdown included within each performer’s slot. A $3 to $5 donation to support the nonprofit is appreciated when possible. Hosting rotates through the month, with Rick Bolton on the first Monday, Carolyn Shapiro on the second Monday, Ray Pashoukos on the third Monday, and Kate Blain on the fourth Monday. Full table service is available and no alcohol is served, keeping Mondays family friendly. The series nurtures a supportive community that values respect and kindness. Excessive profanity, explicit sexual themes, and jokes that target a group are not in line with house standards, which the host may enforce. For questions, call 518-583-0022 or email the Monday House Manager at artur@caffelena.org.
