Gear Hut and Washoe County's Natural Resource Team are leading a hands on trail building session at Huffaker Hills Open Space, also known as Rattlesnake Mountain, as part of the Spring Trail-Work Series. This is the final installment in a three part effort aimed at completing a new route by the end of the week. Snacks, drinks, tools and personal protective equipment are provided. Expect strenuous work on uneven ground. Volunteers may move rocks, shovel and shape soil, and clear vegetation. Participants must be at least 13 years old and are required to wear closed toe shoes, long sleeves and long pants. Plans may change due to weather. Space is limited to 25 volunteers per event, with registration handled through Washoe County. Groups of eight or more can coordinate a separate service or trail work date by contacting Bobby at Washoe County.
