Summer Unplugged - Wacky Science
This free Summer Unplugged Wacky Science event at the Minot Family YMCA features hands-on STEAM activities presented with the Magic City Discovery Center. Children can explore more than ten interactive stations highlighting science, technology, engineering, art, and math, from constructing with the Big Blue Blocks to testing ideas in the Wind Tunnel, combining play with learning throughout. Summer Unplugged is a free community program sponsored by Chevron and adapted in partnership with Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports, with additional support from the Minot Optimist Club and Verendrye Electric for supplies used at this and other youth and family activities. Volunteers are needed and can contact Tia at 701-852-0141 or thuber@ymcaminot.org. All children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Additional free Summer Unplugged activities take place through the summer with art, science, messy mayhem, and water fun alongside local partners.

Gourmet ChefMJGA Summer Junior League
The MJGA Summer Junior League returns for its third year at Jack Hoeven Wee Links, uniting four local programs in one league: Souris Valley Golf Course, Beowulf Club, Jack Hoeven Wee Links, and Vardon Golf Club. Each course fields a team of eight, and players are paired into twosomes for weekly scrambles against a pair from another course. Matches use match play scoring with three points available across nine holes, organized as a series of three-hole segments. All regular season play takes place at Wee Links over six weeks, followed by a two-round playoff tournament. Divisions are offered for ages 5 to 10 and 11 to 15. Consistent attendance is important because league nights function like game day, and notifying the league in advance of an absence helps avoid disruptions. If a roster fills, players may be reassigned to another team to keep competition balanced. The cost is $50 per child and includes a team jersey, a bag tag, and green fees. Girls compete on Wednesdays and boys compete on Thursdays.
