Goat Island Games

Goat Island Games brings families and neighbors together for a full day of outdoor recreation and Cramerton pride. This multi-sport festival continues to grow each year, welcoming runners, riders, competitors, and spectators from across the Carolinas. This edition also features an America 250 celebration as an official Gaston 250 event, with the signature Goat Island goat logo taking on a patriotic look. Runners and other participants are encouraged to wear patriotic attire. The schedule spans 5K and 5-mile runs, a disc golf tournament with a beginner clinic hosted by the G-Town Disc Golf Club, a mountain bike adventure race with Tarheel Trailblazers, group workouts with Immortal Athletics, a group walk with SHE Runs This Town, a disc golf putting contest, fishing, ping pong, cornhole, and a pickleball tournament held at the C.B. Huss Recreation Center. After the races, a post-race festival features live music by Caleb Davis. Most activities take place on or around Goat Island Park, a 30-acre island park on the South Fork Catawba River near downtown Cramerton. The event is also part of the Run Gaston Race Series. The Art of Pickling

Roll up your sleeves for a hands-on pickling class at Haberdish led by Executive Chef Alexandre Falardeau, known as Chef Lex. The session blends a look at the history and science of pickling, with a focus on Southern traditions, and step-by-step guidance as everyone builds personalized jars. Participants will select from classic vegetables like cucumbers, carrots, peppers, and onions, along with seasonal and local choices, then layer in spices and seasonings to create custom flavors. Each jar is finished with one of the house brines, and recipe cards are provided to make it easy to repeat the process at home. The experience includes two 32-ounce jars of your own pickles, take-home recipe cards, and light bites served during class. Cocktails, beer, and wine are available for purchase a la carte. Weekly Over 16yo Pokémon League

A weekly Pokémon league welcomes players of every skill level and offers a friendly community ready to help newcomers learn the ropes. Palisades High School Band Mattress Fundraiser

A mattress fundraiser at Palisades High School benefits the band program and is now in its third year. Over the past two years, this event has raised $14,500 for students. Attendees can try more than 30 mattresses on site, and friendly staff will be available to help compare options and answer questions. Mattresses start at $152.10 with a coupon, with prices increasing in $50 to $100 steps across value, mid range and premium choices. The band receives proceeds from every sale. After a selection is made, a new mattress is ordered in the preferred size. Home delivery with old mattress removal is available 2 to 4 weeks after ordering, and free pickup from the Charlotte warehouse is 2 to 3 weeks after ordering. Brands include names such as Purple, Simmons Beautyrest and Tranquility Sleep Systems, and accessories like adjustable power bases, box springs, pillows, protectors and metal frames are available with a mattress purchase. Drawing from Sophocles, the play examines present-day systems and social limits while emphasizing the power of storytelling for those who choose to challenge the dominant forces of their time. This work belongs to Alfaro’s Greek Trilogy, alongside Electricidad and Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles, which reimagines ancient dramas to foreground the experiences of Chicano and broader Latino communities in Los Angeles and New York. Select the project that fits your style, whether that is a charcuterie board with a river design, a lazy susan, a clock, a key holder shelf, a set of coasters, or a mini pair. Using black walnut and other quality hardwoods, participants personalize their piece with up to two epoxy colors chosen on arrival. When the class wraps up, each project stays behind for curing and professional finishing. Class 2 (2026-2027) Auditions for Dingle Drama Repertory Company

Auditions are open for a one year professional repertory company and training program for actors and improvisers. This ensemble based company brings together committed performers to train, create, and perform across 12 months, meeting one weekend each month to focus on acting craft, improvisation, ensemble work, and performance development, with three showcase performances included. Registration is a required two step process that includes completing a form and selecting an audition slot, and it is only complete once both parts are finished. Spill the Tea: Painted Faces and Powders

Settle in with tea and light bites for a history focused program on the women who preserved apothecary knowledge across generations. Cosmetic and apothecary historian Alicia Schult leads an engaging presentation that spotlights often overlooked contributors in apothecaries, clarifies how apothecaries and pharmacies differ, and traces women’s roles in healing traditions from before the 18th century in Europe through World War II and the beginning of modern regulation. Tickets include a carefully curated tea service, refreshments inspired by traditional tea fare, and the talk itself. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase during the event. Schult has spent more than 35 years studying the compounding of natural and herbal ingredients and their uses throughout history. She holds degrees in history, museum work, anthropology, and archaeology, and she teaches and lectures on historical beauty and apothecary practices. Her background includes a bespoke historical clothing business and work in the museum field, ongoing collaborations with museums, and a wide ranging collection of original apothecary and beauty items, along with related artifacts, archives, and manuscripts. Her mission is to make historic formulas understandable and usable today by uncovering and recreating old recipes and sharing that knowledge through her products. She lives in Wisconsin with her partner and two cats, enjoys traveling and exploring antique and secondhand shops, and continues to seek out lost information. Earlier projects include self published sewing and drafting manuals to support accurate historical garment recreation, and she is currently writing a novel inspired by other forms of lost ancient wisdom.

Downtown restaurants welcome dine in and takeout, and within the Social District guests may carry beverages outside when served in Cramerton branded cups from participating businesses. Intermittent traffic delays may occur around downtown during the festivities. Additional daytime activities will be announced.
