Big Doings All the Time: The House of David's Amusement Park 1908-1978

This program explores the story of the House of David’s amusement park in Benton Harbor, a leading attraction in Southwestern Michigan for nearly seven decades. Although it was not the commune’s most lucrative venture, it stood as its most visible enterprise and, together with the colony’s well regarded but short lived exhibition baseball team, helped win over residents who were initially skeptical of the Israelite faith and brought the community broader recognition in the early twentieth century. Brian D. Carroll, PhD, is the historian and head archivist for the Israelite House of David in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The program is free, and no RSVP is required.

ELH Detailing's 6th Annual Car Show: Cruisin' for Camp Make-A-Dream

ELH Detailing presents its 6th Annual Car Show, a benefit for Camp Mak-A-Dream, a Montana nonprofit that offers free, medically supported camp programs for children, teens, and adults affected by cancer. The cause holds special meaning for ELH owner Eddie Hojara, who first visited the camp at age 10 and came away with hope, confidence, and memories that lasted beyond a difficult time. The camp creates space for kids to laugh, connect, build confidence, and enjoy life away from hospitals, treatments, and diagnoses, and this year’s show focuses on giving that experience back to others. Each displayed vehicle, each registration, and each contribution supports the mission, channeling a love of cars into meaningful help for campers.
