Djembe and Doun Doun class with Bolokada Conde

Tamarack Hollow and Gaia Roots World Music present an intergenerational djembe and doun doun class led by master Malinke drummer Bolokada Conde of Morowaya, Guinea at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts. The session welcomes participants of varied experience levels and includes a short presentation featuring Bolokada, Aimee Gelinas, members of Gaia Roots, and the Berkshire Rhythm Keepers. As part of the spring portion of the 17th annual Tamarack Hollow Berkshire Drum Fest, this gathering celebrates community through rhythm. Proceeds support the artist and Tamarack Hollow Nature & Cultural Center’s year round environmental education, the Raise the Roof building project, and conservation of 88 acres of highland boreal forest in Windsor, Massachusetts. Registration is required, space is limited, scholarships are available, and drum rentals are $5. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Pittsfield Cultural Council with support from the Mass Cultural Council.
