Teen Night

Every Monday, teens ages 13 to 19 can get a $12 day pass for climbing. It is a chance to take a break from homework and spend some active time.

Survivor Healing Circle

A peer-facilitated support circle offers space for people affected by violent crime, including surviving family members, to share, reflect, and find community. Participation is free, and light refreshments are provided. The gathering takes place in the St. Joseph County Public Library Community Learning Center, Classroom B on the second floor. Walk-ins are welcome, and advance sign-up is encouraged.

Auditions: The Drowsy Chaperone

Auditions are being held at South Bend Civic Theatre for The Drowsy Chaperone, directed by Wendy and Marty Golob. Singo Music Bingo

Challenge Entertainment brings SINGO Music Bingo to Manny's, a playful spin on bingo where music recognition leads the way. A host fires off 150 quick, thirty second snippets from popular tracks, and prizes are awarded in every round. It is free to participate, and while singing is not required, the format naturally encourages sing-along moments.

Papa's Partners Event to Benefit Mission Outreach at Grace UMC

Scripts & Sips: The Shawshank Redemption (Encore)

Experience a live reading of The Shawshank Redemption at the new Equity in the Arts Event Center, located beside the Morris Performing Arts Center. Co-directed by Aaron Nichols and Maria Kaczmarek, this presentation is created in partnership with the South Bend Community Re-Entry Center and features its residents in every role. Inspired by Stephen King’s novella Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, with a stage adaptation by Owen O’Neill and Dave Johns, the story follows Andy Dufresne, a man imprisoned for murder, who leans on ingenuity and hard-won friendships to keep hope alive behind bars. A 30-minute talkback with the cast and directors follows the reading. Tickets are $15, with $10 supporting Equity in the Arts’ new Share One program, which provides free admission to Morris Performing Arts Center events for Michiana residents facing financial barriers. This event is rated R for strong language and violence, and is supported by Warden Charles Bowen and Maria Kaczmarek.

Latin Wednesday

Enjoy a Latin social dance night at Ironhand Vineyard featuring Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Merengue and more. A 30 minute beginner lesson leads into open dancing. Ekphrastic: Poetry at SBMA

Ekphrastic poetry transforms visual art into verse, inviting writers to imagine, interpret, and deepen the meaning of a painting or sculpture through language. By considering the movement and story within an artwork, poets build fresh connections with what they see. People of all ages are welcome to create a poem inspired by pieces on view in the galleries. Submissions will be reviewed. Selected poems will appear in a commemorative chapbook, and those poets will be invited to share their work aloud during the annual reading in the SBMA galleries. In its eleventh year, the program shifts from an open choice to a focus on 11 specific works from the collection. Chosen by the community for their lasting impact over the past eleven years, these artworks are the most frequently written about in the program’s history.

Artful Yoga

Art and wellness come together in a yoga class led by instructor Steve Krojniewski inside the museum galleries. Surrounded by works from the collection, participants can relax and recharge in a serene setting. Mats are available on site, and bringing your own is welcome. This free session is open to all, with capacity limited to the first 30 participants.

Spill the Ink Poetry Reading

This poetry reading showcases work from the yearly Spill the Ink contest. Poets ages 12 and older, from first-timers to seasoned writers, share original pieces, and winners in each age category are announced during the program. Line & Dot Botanicals Watercolor Workshop- Mishawaka, IN

Watercolor artist and educator Alexandra Hibshman leads a creative, relaxing workshop rooted in modern botanical design. Participants begin with simple continuous line drawings that suggest expressive plant forms, then layer watercolor dots to build color, texture, and depth in a playful, meditative process. The blend of loose linework and dotted layers produces artwork that feels fresh, contemporary, and uniquely personal. The technique is welcoming for beginners and also inviting for anyone interested in exploring watercolor in a new way. All supplies are included, and everyone will leave with a completed botanical painting.

Death Cafe

This month features a special guest, Alexandria, a practitioner of indigenous shamanism, who will offer connections with loved ones who have passed and are related to people in the audience. The gathering follows the Death Cafe model, meaning the conversation is guided by those attending and there is no preset agenda or theme. It is a space for discussion rather than a grief support or counseling session. The intention is to deepen awareness of mortality so participants can reflect on what matters most in the time available. The setting is welcoming and supportive, inviting a range of beliefs, sincere questions, and attentive listening that helps build community. Each conversation unfolds differently. Common topics include how awareness of death shapes life, advance care planning, physician assisted dying, elder care, funeral arrangements, fears around illness and dying, and perspectives on what may follow death. Attendance is limited to 20 people. Tickets are free, and seats should be reserved only if attendance is certain. Donations will be accepted to help cover the space.

Swing Dance Lessons & Social

The Music Village hosts an evening of swing dancing that combines instruction and social time on the dance floor. It begins with a progressive series focused on Balboa, intended for participants who have been building their skills over the month. A beginner friendly drop in lesson follows, covering the core steps and techniques needed to get started. The night concludes with open dancing so everyone can practice and enjoy the music together. No partner is required. The cost is $5 for the lesson, or $10 for the lesson plus the dance. Because the progressive series builds from prior classes, those new to the month’s style are encouraged to start with the beginner session. April Club Meeting- Winlink Telnet with Father Robert W9RWB

A practical, hands-on session introduces Winlink, a global radio email system used by amateur radio operators for routine messaging, Field Day activities, and emergency communications. The session is led by Reverend Father Robert Bower, a retired Orthodox priest, founding member of Potato Creek Portable, former MARC treasurer and secretary, and leader of the W5YI South Bend/Mishawaka VE Team.

Todd Marcus Quintet

Since 2022, Baltimore bass clarinetist Todd Marcus and Toronto clarinetist Virginia MacDonald have teamed up in a touring quintet that has traveled throughout the United States and Canada. Their set centers on original works by both leaders and crafts a lush, contemporary jazz sound that puts the clarinet in the spotlight. Appearances include notable stages and festivals such as Smalls Jazz Club, the Toronto Jazz Festival, the International Clarinet Association, and the Baltimore Museum of Art. The project highlights how seldom the clarinet is featured in modern straight ahead jazz, in part due to technical and projection challenges, even though the instrument holds an important place in New Orleans traditions, swing era big bands, and avant garde explorations. Marcus and MacDonald bring distinctive improvisational and compositional voices with an international reputation, revealing the instrument’s range and presence in a fresh way. The lineup features Todd Marcus on bass clarinet, Virginia MacDonald on clarinet, Tim Brey on piano, Blake Meister on bass, and Eric Kennedy on drums. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students.

Plant Lady Night

Celebrate the season by designing and painting a ceramic planter, with stencils, specialty glazes, and helpful techniques available to bring your vision to life. Advance tickets are $10 and include one to three succulents depending on the planter size, plus a planting kit with dirt, sand, and rocks, a care card, planting tips, and a few special treats. Planters are purchased separately and typically range from $28 to $48. Extra succulents can be added for $3 to $5 each. Capacity is limited to 25 tickets. Driftwood Mounted Orchids Workshop

Learn to transform natural driftwood and a miniature Phalaenopsis orchid into a living artwork. Now in its sixth year, the Paradise Patio Grand Opening welcomes guests to a bright, celebratory setting with both indoor and outdoor areas to explore. Discover finds for the yard, garden, patio, backyard retreat, or poolside such as garden flags, solar lights and lamps, wind chimes, art poles, potted plants, door hangers, bird baths, metal art, bird houses, welcome mats, and other decorative yard pieces. Artful Storytime

Artful Storytime nurtures early visual and verbal literacy through a collaboration with the St. Joseph County Public Library. With April showers giving way to May blossoms, the theme highlights everything blooming in the galleries. The program is designed for families with children ages 4 to 6. Derby Day

Girls Rock

A short, hands-on demonstration covers a simple task you can try at home in the weeks ahead, such as planting garlic, dividing perennials, or pruning hydrangeas. Rum Village Trail Work Day | 5/2/26

Spend a day improving the Rum Village Bike Trails in South Bend with fellow trail users from across Michiana. Volunteers will clear overgrowth, remove debris, assess trail conditions, and consider potential improvements while moving along the route. Everyone is invited, including non NIMBA members, new riders, adults with children, and trail runners or hikers who enjoy these paths. Participants can learn practical techniques for maintaining mountain bike trails and support NIMBA’s efforts to keep them in good shape throughout the year. Tools are supplied and lunch is provided. Wear clothing that can get dirty and bring sturdy work gloves. Meet at the mountain bike trailhead. Bring a bike if you would like to take a ride once the work is finished, and stay for however long you are able.

Experience a full day of amateur radio with the Michiana Amateur Radio Club at Michiana Walleye Association as part of the Indiana QSO Party. The plan features station setup, an extended on-air operating period, and a wrap-up with teardown. CW and phone operation are expected, with opportunities for both fast-paced pileup running and a more relaxed style of operating. The effort is focused on putting the club and St. Joseph County, Indiana on the air. Everyone is welcome, whether getting on the air or simply stopping by to be part of the activity. No advance sign-up is required. Newcomers to contesting can receive guidance on the exchange and logging to get comfortable. Presenting Series: Treasure Island

Treasure Island comes to the Patricia George Decio Theatre in a brisk, original staging created for young audiences. Four quick-changing performers take on multiple roles, turning the stage into ships, far-off islands, and hidden hideouts through movement and inventive storytelling. The adventure follows Jim on a hunt for treasure where courage, teamwork, and clever decisions lead the way, blending laughs with suspense and heart. The run time is 60 minutes with no intermission, and it is recommended for ages 8 to 11. Produced by Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas and directed by Kassie Misiewicz, whose previous company created Go, Dog. Go!, A Year with Frog and Toad, Mariposa/Butterfly, and Journey to Oz. American Sign Language interpretation is offered for one performance, with seating available within view of the interpreter.

MIND BODY SPIRIT Festival

The MIND BODY SPIRIT Festival returns for its fifth year at Potawatomi Park, centered on connection, curiosity, and well-being. The day features yoga, meditation, and a variety of classes and workshops led by local practitioners who enjoy sharing their skills. Live music sets the tone while visitors explore art and holistic goods from community vendors and enjoy offerings from organic and sustainable food makers. In recognition of World Labyrinth Day, a shared labyrinth walk invites mindful movement and quiet reflection, highlighting the experience of walking together. Gardening Workshops @ Botany & Co

Dig into a rotating series of seasonal, hands-on gardening workshops at Botany & Co that help participants feel more confident and engaged in their own outdoor spaces. Each session focuses on a different project, and everyone leaves with something tangible to bring home along with practical knowledge, new skills, and connections with fellow gardeners. Most months also feature a Plant Walk with Ben before the workshop for added inspiration. Projects by month include sweet pea starts using soil blocking in March to sow a cutting garden, mini mushroom logs in April with three 12-inch logs and mushrooms of your choice, a compact pollinator-friendly patio garden in May, and plant propagation in June through cuttings, division, and more with six new plants to take home. There are no workshops in July, August, or September. The series resumes in October with hardy annuals and seed collecting, then continues in November with digging up and overwintering dahlias, complete with dahlia tubers to bring home.

An energetic co-ed pickleball league offering seven weeks of play that blends competition with a friendly social scene. Matches are played as doubles with two players on the court, substitutes are permitted, teams carry a minimum roster of four, and each team includes at least one male and one female. After the action, the evening continues at a partner bar, keeping the community vibe going. It is suitable for both experienced players and those new to the game. Bird Hike at Lydick Bog

A guided birding walk at Lydick Bog Nature Preserve explores a range of habitats that support excellent birdwatching. Organized by Shirley Heinze Land Trust, the outing welcomes newcomers and seasoned birders. Volunteer Naturalist Jim Spier leads the hike, sharing his experience and insights into the bog’s history and habitats. Space is limited and an RSVP through the organizer’s website is required to reserve a spot. The event will continue in most weather and will be canceled in inclement conditions, with no alternate date. Accessible outdoor restrooms and parking are available, and there is no potable water on site.

Watercolor for Beginners

Learn how to center clay, raise the walls, shape your form, and refine the details as you create a cup or small bowl. Multiple sessions are offered, so be sure to choose and confirm the date and time you want during registration before completing checkout. Finished pieces are not taken home the same day. They need several days to dry before kiln firing, which typically happens on Fridays, and the kiln is usually unloaded on Tuesdays. After that, you can return to add a glaze color of your choice, then the work is fired once more to complete the process. Completed pottery is held for up to two months from your class date. Unclaimed items may be discarded to make room, and pickup reminder calls are not provided, so set a personal reminder to collect your work on time.

At Merriman's Playhouse, the Hickey-Shanafelt 9ollective, a nine-piece modern jazz ensemble led by longtime collaborators Kent Hickey and Alex Shanafelt, presents original work that showcases a mixed small-group sound and the full sweep of the jazz tradition, from classic swing to aleatoric passages and free improvisation. Founded in 2019, the group focuses on composing, commissioning, and performing music by its members, local creators, and emerging artists from across the country. This appearance is part of a regional tour of The Region and follows two 2025 releases. The Kaleidoscope Suite documents an extended piece co-written by Alex and Kent and stems from a cross-disciplinary collaboration with Indianapolis artist Kelsey Behl, who paints a new work live as the band performs four thematically connected movements. A 9ollective Christmas reimagines familiar seasonal tunes through nine new arrangements. The program features favorites from the ensemble’s book and the premiere of a new piece titled Tetherball. Anyone planning to use the MAKE SOUTH BEND wood shop must first complete this introductory safety class. Frog Fest 2026

The quiet pool near Touchdown Jesus turns lively on warm evenings as frogs make their presence known. Hosted by Notre Dame’s Biology Graduate Student Organization, the third annual Frog Fest offers a family friendly night of discovery, community, and amphibians. Interactive science stations, lawn games, complimentary food, a raffle, and an appearance by the Potawatomi Zoo set the stage. The kickoff features an ice cream truck along with hands on demonstrations and activities run by more than ten Notre Dame science clubs, labs, and organizations. Visitors can try a mini vivarium building workshop sponsored by Josh’s Frogs and enter for a chance to win a full sized vivarium plus a voucher for a White’s tree frog. As night falls, the gathering moves to the reflection pond by the Hesburgh Library, where gray tree frogs call from the water’s edge. ClearH2O Tackle Walleye Slam fishing tournament presented by Michiana Walleye Club

Anglers can put their skills to the test at the ClearH2O Tackle Walleye Slam, organized by the Michiana Walleye Club, taking place at Margaret H Prickett Park with access from Maggie’s Boat Launch on the St. Joseph River. The entry fee is $60 per boat, which includes $50 for the main tournament and $10 for the Big Fish pot, and all entry fees are paid out. Teams may have up to two anglers per boat, no membership is required, and the limit is five walleye measuring at least 16 inches. The repertoire blends spirituals, contemporary compositions, and influential American texts, featuring music by Shawn Kirchner, Joseph Martin, Zanaida Robles, Jocelyn Hagen, Joan Szymko, and Moses Hogan. Themes of faith, awakening, belonging, justice, identity, and responsibility are explored. Intimate moments of lament balance with expressions of resilience, community, and praise, voiced through a cappella singing, piano, percussion, and the sound of multiple generations. Vesper Chorale and the Children’s Choir of Michiana perform under the direction of Jeshua Franklin and Gretchen Nunemaker, with pianists Anne Marie Weaver and Christina Brown. When his father's ghost appears with serious claims, his life begins to slip out of control. Wheel Throwing 101

Explore the basics of the potter’s wheel in a one-time, 1.5-hour class at MAKE SOUTH BEND. Learn how to center, lift, shape, and refine a mug or bowl while gaining confidence with essential wheel-throwing techniques. Multiple sessions are available, so choose the date and time you prefer during sign-up and verify your selection before completing checkout. Projects are not taken home the same day. Pieces need to dry for multiple days before the first kiln firing, which happens on Fridays, and the kiln is unloaded on Tuesdays. After that, you can return to glaze your work in the color you like, then it will be fired one final time. Finished items are held for up to two months from your class date. To keep space available, unclaimed pieces are cleared after that period, and reminder calls are not made, so plan your pickup accordingly.

Hands-on learning meets automotive history in a four day STEM workshop at the Studebaker National Museum, presented with The Riverbend Community Math Center. Young car fans and aspiring inventors will design and 3D print a car, explore how vehicle design has evolved and how Studebaker helped shape the industry, and dive into STEM themed crafts and projects that spark creativity and curiosity. The program is intended for ages 10 to 14. Cost is $150 per child. Capacity is limited.

Movie Trivia Night - Benefitting Dustin’s Place

A film-focused trivia night supports Dustin’s Place and the free grief support it provides for children, teens, and families. Teams of up to eight participate for $200 per team. Blue Devils Experience

Sponsored by Conn Selmer, Inc., US Bands, and BDPA, the third annual Blue Devils Experience offers a full day of learning and leadership at Mishawaka High School. In the morning, educators take part in sessions and Q&As with the Blue Devils staff, while students attend a Student Leadership Workshop led by Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser with Taylor Watts. After a lunch break, everyone reconvenes for master class style sessions where Blue Devils team members Beth Fabrizio, Richard Saucedo, and Taylor Watts work directly with students. Directors are welcome to observe throughout the day. The event concludes with a full ensemble rehearsal led by Richard Saucedo, followed by a brief Q&A for directors and students. Students may participate for the full day or register for morning and afternoon blocks a la carte. Group pricing offers 20 percent off per student for groups of five or more, and one complimentary director registration is included.

Michiana Premier Event

GEARS hosts the second annual Michiana Premier event for the FIRST Tech Challenge, bringing together 96 teams from around the world to capstone their DECODE season. J & J Acoustic @ Four Winds Casino - South Bend - Kankakee Grille

J&J Acoustic pairs Jamie Warren and Jeff Spicher for a relaxed, all-acoustic show built on two guitars and close harmonies. Their set spans eras and styles, moving from the classic sound of Seals & Crofts to modern pop from Dua Lipa, all delivered in an intimate acoustic format. Both musicians bring more than twenty-five years of regional and local performing experience, together and in separate projects. Warren runs Warren Guitar Lessons in Mishawaka and studied at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. Spicher has taught guitar at Hoosier-dads Music and Home-Run Music in Mishawaka, recorded several albums, and contributed soundtrack music for independent film director Donald Corthier. Their combined background shapes a varied playlist designed to keep the music interesting throughout the performance.

Stop The Slaughter Injured Biker Fund Ride

Riders gather at American Legion Post 308 for a poker ride benefiting the Injured Biker Fund, which supports motorcyclists and their families after accidents. For nearly two decades, Pastors Al and Angela Ganser have coordinated help that includes financial support, hands-on assistance and visits, counseling, and spiritual care, aiding more than 150 families. The fund is now recognized as an official 501.3c organization. The route begins and ends at the post, with registration followed by the group ride. Afterward, participants return for dinner along with a 50/50, a silent auction, T-shirts, and yard signs.

Co-Ed Youth Day Camp

Returning as a summer tradition, this youth day camp is open to all genders and blends hands-on instruction with active play. Participants strengthen the core elements of the game with guidance from the organizers' players and take part in a range of contests and activities.

Mishawaka Summer Concert Series- Tim Dudley Show (Elvis Tribute)

An award-winning tribute to Elvis returns to the Mishawaka Summer Concert Series, with Tim Dudley back at the Battell Park Band Shell Stage. The performance features beloved hits, gospel songs Elvis recorded, and lesser-heard favorites. Large audiences are common for this show, and many attendees arrive early with blankets or lawn chairs. Scarves will be handed out. Song requests can be written down and passed to team members wearing Tim Dudley Show logo polo shirts. The performance will be professionally filmed.

ATV Big Air Tour at St Joseph County Fair, South Bend IN

The ATV Big Air Tour brings a national motorsports spectacle to the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair Grounds, returning due to strong demand with two high-flying shows. Professional ATV riders soar more than 80 feet from towering ramps and deliver a full slate of freestyle stunts, including a backflip on an ATV. The lineup features Derek Guetter and his team with John Langaas, Nick Rogers, and Jake Cohoe. After the show, a post-show meet and greet and fan fest offers photos, autographs, and chances to win prizes such as jerseys and goggles. As part of the St. Joseph County Fair, the experience continues with rides, 4-H animals, exhibits, and a wide variety of classic fair eats, from burgers and barbecue to corn dogs, cheese curds, funnel cakes, fried Oreos, cotton candy, lemonade, and more, along with beverage options for adults. This outdoor event features loud engine noise, huge jumps, and action from start to finish, so plan for the weather and expect an energetic atmosphere. Little Highlanders Running Camp

Little Highlanders Running Camp welcomes incoming 2nd through 8th graders for four evenings of active learning at Floyd Central High School. Participants train with current and former Floyd Central athletes and coaches, who create a positive, high-energy setting and serve as strong role models. Each session features age-appropriate workouts that build proper running form, endurance, speed, and overall fitness, with encouragement and personal progress emphasized over competition. Campers also take part in daily team activities that nurture sportsmanship, leadership, and new friendships. A dedicated day invites everyone to try a range of track and field events, including sprints, distance running, jumps, and throws, to discover new interests and strengths. Every camper receives a free entry to the Night Raid 5K and Fun Run as a celebration of their efforts.

Pilot Explorers - Ages 9-12

Created for ages 9 to 12, Pilot Explorers offers one-week day camps centered on STEAM subjects. Participants choose a single focus, with options such as engineering, chemistry, theatre, graphic arts I, studio arts I, and culinary. Each camp features interactive, project-based activities led by experienced faculty and student teachers, giving learners the chance to build skills, connect with peers, and have a great time.

Night Raid 5K & Fun Run

A night of running unfolds at Floyd Central High School, with a family-friendly 800 meter fun run on the Ron Wigleb Stadium track followed by a 5K. The 5K begins near the Floyd Central Athletic Complex, rises gently toward the school, circles the campus twice, and concludes back inside the stadium with a finish on the track beneath the lights. It brings together runners of all ages for a community-focused experience that balances festive energy with a satisfying challenge.

Trail Trekkers: Invasive Species
