Sensory Art Time

Explore a range of sensory experiences with a variety of art materials in a relaxed, hands-on setting. The focus is on process art, encouraging playful experimentation with one or two mediums without the expectation of a finished piece. Participants are welcome to switch between materials or blend them together. For children who enjoy creating a final product, assistance is available to make a personalized sensory or fidget toy. U5MP’s monthly meeting takes place at Normal Community High School IMC. Geared toward volunteers and anyone interested in supporting the music programs, the gathering offers updates, opportunities to share ideas, and ways to get involved.

True Crime Book Club

True Crime Book Club meets quarterly on the fourth Monday of February, April, July, and October for thoughtful conversations about compelling cases and narratives. The April discussion features When the Night Comes Falling: A Requiem for the Idaho Student Murders by Howard Blum. Attendees may join in person at the library or participate online through Zoom. Registration is required only for online participants and can be completed online, at the Help Desk on the library’s second floor, or by calling 309.590.6168. Beginner Belly Dance Spring 2026 - Session 2 (10 Wks)

Tenth Muse Dance hosts a beginner-friendly fusion belly dance series led by Erin Mariele. The curriculum builds solid fundamentals in belly dance and fusion technique, then connects steps through short combinations. Expect low impact training that focuses on core isolations while still offering a sweaty, core-strengthening workout. No prior dance experience is required. Each class includes a thorough warmup, targeted conditioning for key muscles and joints, skill-building drills, and choreography that progresses throughout the session toward a semiannual showcase. If the instructor is unexpectedly unavailable, a substitute or a make-up class will be arranged when possible. The session will proceed only if at least four participants enroll. Wear fitted yoga attire and dance barefoot, in socks, or in dance shoes. Street shoes are not permitted on the dance floor. Bring a yoga mat for warmup and conditioning. A water bottle, towel, and yoga blocks can be helpful. The 10 week session costs $120, which includes a $2 processing fee. A $15 drop-in option is available. Payments can be split into two installments, and custom payment plans are offered.

SVdP - Holy Trinity: Monday’s Food & Clothing Distribution

St. Vincent de Paul Holy Trinity offers community distribution of food and clothing with a drive-through system designed for safety and efficiency. Guests arriving by car are asked to join the vehicle line, keep plenty of space available in their trunk or cargo area for easy loading, and remain inside their vehicles while volunteers bring items to them. Bicycles and motorized bikes must be walked while on the lot. A walk-up station is available only for those without access to a vehicle, and guests who arrive by car will be served at their vehicle rather than at the walk-up area. Visitors are asked to respect nearby residences by not blocking driveways and by following local parking rules. Service is limited to those already in the parking lot when distribution closes. If a recipient receives something they cannot use, they are encouraged to share it with a neighbor or another family in need, helping resources reach as many people as possible.

Baby Rock & Play

Babies and toddlers can enjoy a brief story, upbeat songs, and bubble fun created to encourage early development. The session concludes with open play and opportunities to make new friends. Best suited for children ages 3 and under attending with a caregiver, while everyone is welcome.

Lunchtime Yoga

Give your midday a mindful reset with a beginner-level yoga session in the Community Room. The class is designed to fit into a lunch break and welcomes newcomers to yoga. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or a beach towel. Supported by the Normal Public Library Foundation.

"Life Behind Bars" Viewing and Q&A

This event features a community screening and conversation about a case that began locally and why it still matters. A special episode of Life Behind Bars focuses on the case of Jamie Snow, who has spent nearly three decades in prison and is presented as wrongfully convicted. After the short film, a Q&A offers time for questions and discussion. The program will be held at Bloomington Public Library in Illinois.

MCCC Ribbon Cutting: Brain Balance Grand Opening

An official ribbon cutting marks the Brain Balance grand opening. Explore the center to learn how Brain Balance supports families and clients. A raffle will offer a chance to win a complimentary assessment.

Women to Women Spring Forum

At Bloomington Public Library in Illinois, the Women to Women Spring Forum will explore how the community is addressing the housing crisis. Matt Burgess of Home Sweet Home Ministries in Bloomington and Patti Schonauer of Hope on 5th in Lincoln will share details about local initiatives that provide shelter for unhoused residents in Central Illinois. A question and answer session will follow the discussion. Additional information will be shared as the event approaches.

Stroke Support Group

The Stroke Survivor Support Group meets at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, BCC Building and brings together survivors, families, and caregivers to connect, exchange experiences, and talk through concerns and personal goals. The gathering supports a clearer understanding of recovery and rehabilitation so participants can move through healing with knowledge and confidence. It also offers guidance on healthy living that supports recovery, including nutrition, exercise, and everyday wellness. The environment is welcoming and encourages open conversation about fears, challenges, and hopes. Attendees can also learn about community programs and services available to stroke survivors and their families.

Beginning Improv Workshop

Explore the basics of improvisation in an interactive, beginner-friendly workshop at Heartland Theatre Company. Over eight sessions on Heartland’s stage, instructor Wes Melton teaches core improv principles and how to apply them in theater, at work, and in everyday life. Participants will practice short form games, and the series wraps up with a public showcase. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants and is open to ages 16 and up. Registration is handled through an online form, and the fee is $150, due on the first day by check, credit card, or cash. The class meets at Heartland Theatre Company in the Community Activity Center building, not to be confused with Heartland Community College. About the instructor: Wes began studying and performing improv at TheatersCool in Bloomington about 12 years ago, trained with Mike Abdelsayed of One Group Mind, completed intensives at Second City Chicago and with Jimmy Carrane, and helped form the local troupe Improv Attack, which performed locally and in Champaign and Urbana with Zoo Improv. Post pandemic, Wes recognized the need for improv in the Bloomington and Normal community.

Adult Reading Challenge Book Brunch

This in-person meetup in NPL's Community Room East centers on the current Adult Reading Challenge. Participants discuss what they are reading for the month’s prompt, share what they loved or did not, and exchange recommendations. All formats are welcome, including print, audiobooks, and digital, and it is fine if the book is not finished. Recent prompts have included stories adapted for film or television, love stories, and books about inspirational women. Registration is required and space is limited.

Adult Craftivism

Celebrate Earth Day by participating in a seed sorting activity that benefits the Bookmobiles new seed library, called Seeds on Wheels. Participants will also receive seeds to take home and plant in their own gardens. It is a simple, fun and meaningful way to give back to the community.

Open Mic

Fleet Feet x Lil Beaver April Pub Run

Group runs and craft beer come together at this recurring pub run. Held on the last Wednesday of each month, it welcomes walkers and runners of every pace and ability. Choose a distance between 1 and 4 miles, then enjoy between one and four local craft beers, or opt for a nonalcoholic beverage. The fun run is free and no preregistration is required. In winter, bring lights and reflective gear for visibility. Plan to check in slightly early to complete the waiver. The location alternates each month between Lil Beaver and Keg Grove.

BPL On-the-Go PopUp

Bloomington Public Library’s new mobile unit makes it possible to deliver technology-centered library programs and services away from the main building, traveling with the Bookmobile to high-traffic stops. During this pop-up, visitors can get a close look, meet staff, explore what the unit offers, and discuss ideas for programs and services that could be provided offsite. Staff will also offer hands-on tech mini activities and simple crafts while supplies last. Anyone curious about the mobile unit is welcome to drop in and learn more.

Secrets of Strixhaven Two-Headed Giant Commander

Pair up for a monthly Two-Headed Giant Commander event where teams of two face other duos and participants can earn promo cards. Each player brings an individual 100-card Commander deck, and partners share a single life total that begins at 60. Teammates take their turns at the same time. Only life is shared, while all other resources remain separate. When a card refers to you, it applies only to its controller. Effects that say each opponent or each player apply to both members of the relevant team. You can block creatures attacking you, your teammate, or planeswalkers your team controls, and the team that starts the game skips its first draw step. For the Commander format, decks follow standard construction with 99 cards plus a commander and there is no unified build requirement, so each deck must be legal on its own. A team loses if it takes 21 or more damage from a single commander or if it accumulates 15 or more poison counters.

The Autism Conference 2026 • Sharing Knowledge • Inspiring Action

Housing & Resource Fair

The City of Bloomington, the Mid-Illinois Realtors Association, and the Town of Normal are hosting a housing resource fair at Eastland Mall near the food court entrance. Organizations are encouraged to participate and connect with people experiencing homelessness, individuals searching for an apartment or home, and homeowners who need assistance. Participation is free.

Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality, along with Health Promotion and Wellness and other wellness organizations, invite you to Nutri-Fest. This event provides helpful information while allowing attendees to sample nutritious, healthy foods. This years theme is “Discover the Power of Nutrition,” highlighting how food and beverage choices can power your day. Learn tips for accessing healthy foods and building healthy habits. Attendees are encouraged to bring personal hygiene products for the School Street Food Pantry and be entered into a drawing.

Yard & Indoor Sale @ USA Ballet Studio

This large sale takes place both indoors and outside and raises funds for the USA Ballet/Youth Ensemble and My Loveable Angels animal rescue. Shopping here supports local at-risk youth and helps provide care for rescue animals.

At Bloomington Country Club, Lilac Rising presents Threads of Hope, a hallmark fundraiser that brings together fashion, community, and purpose for an elegant afternoon inspired by the Kentucky Derby. A spring runway showcase highlights looks from local boutiques alongside thoughtfully prepared food and beverages, celebrating women moving forward through opportunity, connection, and practical support while directly advancing the organization’s mission. Guests are served a high tea style luncheon at beautifully set tables with savory bites, sweet treats, and sparkling options. Each table includes a bottle of Prosecco and a bottle of Rosé, and every guest receives a ticket for the signature Oaks Lily cocktail. Coffee, tea, and soft drinks are also available. The experience features a polished runway presentation and a magazine-like program with QR codes that make it easy to browse and shop the featured styles. Derby hats and festive attire are encouraged. The Lilac Rising board will select five finalists for best dressed in Derby attire, and the audience will choose the winner through donation based voting, turning friendly competition into added support for the cause. LEGAL EASE (Casual Spring Social) (FFL's 1st Birthday)

Ease into the spring weekend with a relaxed uptown social offering light bites, drinks, entertainment, and the company of others. The occasion also marks FFL's first year in business.

The book fair is part of the Stevenson Carnival and will take place in the LMC. An online book fair will also be available for those who cannot attend the in-person event.

Salsa de Mayo

This kickoff to the downtown summer season features Fudge Farm Flowers with fresh bouquets available and the opportunity to place Mother's Day orders for the following week. Attendees can sample homemade salsa. Vicky's Boutique, known for its tomatoes, will be on site with starter plants and a variety of garden items. The focus is on flowers, plants, and tasty samples in a welcoming downtown setting.

An IFPA monthly tournament sponsored by Punk Rock Pinball brings competitive pinball to Bloomington Ale House, located inside the lobby of Golden Ticket Cinemas. Participants are asked to avoid material that degrades or ostracizes any person, and to keep shares brief so everyone has a chance to read. If time allows, readers may take another turn after all participants have shared. The Kid’s Room will be closed to shopping during the event, while the rest of the store remains open and accessible. Participation is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. Dancing around the Old Town

Host sides Hastings RX Morris and Hannah’s Cat open the dancing at the Stade Open Space. Troupes from around the country then take to the streets, heading into Hastings Old Town and along the seafront for more performances. Free Adult Dental Extraction Clinic

A free adult dental extraction clinic will serve McLean County residents at the office of the oral surgeons Capodice, Efaw, Ocheltree and Elger PLLC. The clinic is intended for adults with low incomes who do not have dental insurance and who need one or two teeth removed. Care is offered at no cost, patients are seen in the order they arrive, and capacity is limited to 120 people. Only extractions are provided. Multiple extractions and other types of dental treatment are not included. All services are donated by volunteer oral surgeons and local dentists. Everyone who attends will complete a health history form upon arrival.

In Hastings Old Town, Jack emerges from the Fishermen’s Museum to cheers as the Bogies spill into the street. The mood then settles as Jack shares a first dance with Hastings RX Women. With the Bogies and Sal at his side, Jack leads a vibrant procession that winds up All Saints Street, crosses The Bourne, and heads down the High Street in a burst of color and sound. The parade pauses on the High Street for a well earned rest, offering a close view of the spectacle. Morris sides may perform a few dances while Jack moves back along the High Street to greet followers, and attendees are asked to make room for his passage since this area can become very crowded. After the break, the procession reforms and continues up Croft Road, along Collier Road, and on to West Hill.

Beginner Belly Dance Spring 2026 - Session 2 (10 Wks)

Tenth Muse Dance offers a beginner friendly fusion belly dance series led by instructor Erin Mariele. Over ten weeks, students build a foundation in belly dance and fusion technique with a focus on precise core isolations. Each class includes a thorough warm up, conditioning for key muscles and joints, drills to refine movement, and short combinations that grow into a choreography developed throughout the session with an eye toward the studio’s semiannual showcases. The training is low impact while still delivering a solid sweat and a strong core workout. No prior dance experience is required, and the course will run with a minimum enrollment of four students. Wear form fitting yoga attire with bare feet, socks, or dance shoes. Street shoes are not allowed on the dance floor. Please bring a yoga mat for warm ups and conditioning. A water bottle, towel, and yoga blocks are recommended. Tuition for the ten week session is $120, which includes a small online processing fee. A single class drop in option is available for $15. Payment plans are offered, including an option to split the total into two parts. If the instructor is unexpectedly unavailable, a substitute will be arranged or a make up class will be scheduled whenever possible.

SVdP - Holy Trinity: Monday’s Food & Clothing Distribution

St. Vincent de Paul Holy Trinity offers community distribution of groceries and clothing with a simple, safety-focused process. Food pickup operates as a drive-through, and guests are asked to queue in their vehicles, leave ample space inside for easy loading, and remain in their cars while volunteers bring items to them. Bicycles and motorized bikes must be walked while on the parking lot. Walk-up service is reserved only for individuals who do not have access to a vehicle, and anyone arriving by car should use the vehicle line rather than the walk-up area. Please be mindful of nearby homes by avoiding blocked driveways and following local parking rules. Service is provided to households that are in the parking lot before distribution ends, and the team cannot extend service to those still waiting off site once the distribution closes. If you receive something your household cannot use, consider passing it along to a neighbor in need. Your cooperation helps volunteers serve everyone fairly and efficiently.

Children's Book Week at Bobzbay Books!

Bobzbay Books celebrates Children’s Book Week with activities for young readers. Each child can receive one complimentary picture book while supplies last, and the child must be present to claim it. The store also offers a book character scavenger hunt and free coloring sheets to enjoy in the shop or take home. During the week, a profit share day will support the West Bloomington Revitalization Project’s Book Bike, with 10 percent of all sales that day, in store or online, donated to help provide free kids’ books in the community. Another highlight is a story time and book signing with local children’s author e.E. Charlton-Trujillo, featuring readings of Lupe Lopez: Rock Star Rules! and Lupe Lopez: Rock Star Rivals!, followed by a signing, giveaways, and cake.

Profit Share Fundraiser for the WBRP Book Bike

Bobzbay Books hosts a profit share fundraiser in support of the West Bloomington Revitalization Project’s Book Bike, aligned with the spirit of Children’s Book Week. Ten percent of every purchase, in store and online, is contributed to the Book Bike, advancing WBRP’s efforts to promote literacy for people of all ages in the community. The Book Bike provides free books to anyone, as many as they would like, with no requirements. Purchases can also be directed straight to the Book Bike, including gift cards. Inform a bookseller at checkout or add a note during online checkout and the store will route the items accordingly. Online orders placed on the day of the fundraiser also qualify for the profit share, and shipping is available.

Life After Loss Support Group - Bloomington

This support group provides a compassionate, confidential space to share the experience of loss with others who understand the grieving process. Participants can speak openly, receive encouragement, and take steps toward healing in a community of caring support. No one has to go through it alone. Beginning Improv Workshop

Heartland Theatre Company presents a beginner-friendly improv workshop led by Wes Melton. Across eight interactive sessions, participants build core improv skills and learn how to apply them on stage, in the workplace, and in everyday life, with plenty of practice through short-form games. The series concludes with a public showcase on Heartland’s stage. Class size is limited to 12 to keep the experience engaging and hands-on. Registration is required through an online form, and the fee of $150 is due on the first day by check, credit card, or cash. Participants must be 16 or older. The workshop takes place at Heartland Theatre Company in the Community Activity Center building, which is not the same as Heartland Community College. Mother's Day Flower Sale

NCHS Experimental Ensemble

pt.fwd and the McLean County Museum of History present a concert by the NCHS Experimental Ensemble, concluding pt.fwd’s seventh season of music in Bloomington-Normal. In the Museum’s Old Courtroom, student musicians from Normal Community High School explore fresh sound worlds, try out unconventional instruments, and experiment with new performance approaches. The program features student arrangements of American classics and improvised pieces with faculty members Stefen Robinson and Zachary Sargent alongside guest artists. Since 2021, the ensemble has introduced students to practices such as free improvisation, electroacoustic work, and sound installation. Presented by pt.fwd, an artist-run nonprofit that organizes contemporary music and sonic arts performances in Central Illinois and partners with historic, sonically distinctive venues, this concert is free and open to the public.

2026 Fundraising Gala

The Aristocrats - Live Music & Dancing

At the BCPA Ballroom, The Aristocrats present a night of live music and dancing. Youth in Harmony Benefit

A free benefit concert brings together three Central Illinois ensembles, the Vermillion Valley Show Chorus, Coles County Chorus, and the Sound of Illinois, for an evening of close harmony at the BW Signature Collection, Parke Regency Hotel & Conference Center. Raffles and prizes will support Youth in Harmony. SVdP - Holy Trinity: Saturday’s Food Distribution

St. Vincent de Paul Holy Trinity offers a food-only distribution using a drive-through process focused on safety and efficiency. Guests should stay inside their vehicles while volunteers load groceries, and clearing space in the trunk or back seat before arriving helps the line move smoothly. Walk-up service is reserved for those without access to a vehicle, and anyone who arrives by car should use the vehicle line rather than walking up. For everyone’s safety, bicycles and motorized bikes must be walked while on the parking lot. Please be considerate of nearby neighbors by keeping driveways clear and following local parking rules. Service is limited to those who are in the parking lot by closing, and the team cannot remain open to serve vehicles that are still waiting off-site after that time. To support fair access for all, guests who receive food during a Saturday distribution are asked not to return the following Monday, and those who come on the 2nd or 4th Saturday should not plan to receive again the next business day. If you receive items your household cannot use, consider sharing them with someone who can.

Printz and Stonewall Award recipient, e.E. RC Cars for Kids

Kids team up to repurpose cardboard boxes into ramps and obstacle courses for remote control cars, then take turns navigating the track they built. Hop on the Road: A Celebration of Route 66

Destihl Beer Hall & Barrel Room hosts a car show and retro celebration honoring the spirit of Route 66. Vehicle registration is $15 per entry with on-site and advance options, and the first 66 registered cars receive premium reserved parking. Judging spans four categories: Antique for pre-1950 vehicles, Classic for 1951 through 1999, Contemporary for 2000 through 2025, and a People’s Choice determined by crowd vote. Winners are announced and awards follow. Warhammer 40k Doubles Tournament May

Partner up for a Warhammer 40,000 doubles tournament featuring three rounds of play. Each round lasts 2 hours and 45 minutes, with a 30 minute break between games. Teams are two players, and each player fields a 1,000 point army. A team may include up to three copies of the same unit, with battleline units excluded from that cap. Standings are determined by match record, then by total victory points. The tournament organizer will choose the mission for each round on the day of the event, and missions will vary every round. Command points are shared between teammates as if they were one player. The focus is on having fun, and offbeat or unconventional lists are encouraged. Best Coast Pairings tickets are free, and any participation charges are collected directly by Red Raccoon Games.

This shootout takes place at The Den at Fox Creek, using the D1 Open setup from the APT Pink tee. The round measures 6,655 yards and plays to par 72. When it opened, the course became the third golf venue for the City of Bloomington.

At Normal Theater, a special screening marks WGLT’s 60th anniversary as part of a community film series focused on the role of a free press. June Open Mic Poetry at Bobzbay Books!

An open mic for spoken word at Bobzbay Books welcomes both new and seasoned voices. The gathering takes place in the Kid's Room with a relaxed setup, there is no stage and no microphone, so the format suits first time readers and anyone with stage fright. Participants may share original poetry, favorite poems, short stories, or other spoken word pieces. To ensure time for everyone, individual readings should stay under 10 minutes. Material that degrades or ostracizes any person, including homophobic, racist, or bigoted content, is not permitted. If time remains after everyone has read, participants may read again. A small seating area with about 8 to 10 chairs will be available for readers and listeners, and attendees may also quietly browse the shop while listening. The Kid's Room will not be shoppable during the program, though the rest of the store will remain open. Participation is free and open to the public with no registration required. A sign up sheet will be available in the Kid's Room shortly before the event to help organize the lineup. CIRA Plane Pull Benefitting Special Olympics Illinois

At Central Illinois Regional Airport, the inaugural plane pull benefits Special Olympics Illinois. Teams of up to 20 race to move a 95,000 pound United Airlines aircraft a full 12 feet in the fastest time while raising support for athletes across the state. Community members, businesses, athletes, and law enforcement come together for a day centered on teamwork, friendly competition, and fundraising. Each team has a $1,000 fundraising minimum, and the excitement on the rope is matched by cheers from the sidelines. Bicycles and motorized bikes must be walked while on the parking lot. A walk-up option is available only for those who do not have access to a vehicle, and that area serves walk-ups exclusively.
