Collins is a road-seasoned songwriter who gathers the country’s stories with little more than a guitar and a notebook. His catalog runs deep yet feels carefully refined, filled with vivid characters from both real life and imagination, and he sings with conviction about the struggles tied to the American Dream. Buz Owen, a multi-instrumentalist from Marshalltown, Iowa, explores folk traditions through a contemporary lens. His songs dwell on worry, weariness, and the small satisfactions that help people get by. Known for mandolin and clawhammer banjo, he is just as likely to play guitar and harmonica. When he is offstage he is writing, recording, or collaborating, always chasing an honest song, and he has released more than seven records for which he handles the writing, production, engineering, and performance himself.

Ames Public LibraryNever After Happily - Auditions
Fairy-tale endings get a reality check in this theatrical comedy where Ella, a woman beyond the ingénue stage, barges into the storybook world and refuses another glossy retelling. Instead, she pens the aftermath, revealing what follows once the curtain falls on “happily ever after.” Cinderella, now squarely in middle age, along with anxious princes and seasoned heroines, must navigate a life that is funnier, messier, and far more familiar than the legends promise. The style swings from farce to vaudeville, with the punch of sketch comedy and a cheeky splash of Rocky Horror energy, creating a wild, fast-moving romp through the kingdom. Flexible casting supports an ensemble of 4 to 7 men, 7 to 10 women, and 2 performers of any gender.
