Wheel Throwing Date Night

Settle in for a hands-on pottery evening for two at stARTup Studios, where couples explore wheel throwing together in a relaxed, creative atmosphere. An experienced ceramic instructor begins with a quick demonstration of how to shape a pot on the wheel, then each participant receives one ball of clay to craft a personal piece. If both partners want to collaborate on an additional creation, an extra ball of clay can be added for $30. Clay work can be messy, so trimming long nails ahead of time can help. The pottery wheel takes practice and patience, and the emphasis is on enjoying the process and time together rather than aiming for perfection. Afterward, the instructor will glaze your finished pieces, giving them a glossy, colorful surface. You can select one glaze color for each item from the studio’s options. Refreshments are available for purchase, with craft, imported and domestic beers, craft cider and seltzer, and a variety of cold non-alcoholic drinks and bottled water. Cash and all major credit cards are accepted, and outside alcohol is not allowed.

Glassblowing Date Night

Trade the usual routine for an evening with fire and molten glass at stARTup Studios. Perfect for a date night or a bucket list milestone, this hands-on experience begins with a short demonstration, then experienced glassblowers work one-on-one with each participant to craft a stemless wine glass or whiskey glass. Finished pieces are cooled in the kiln and ready for pickup the following weekend. Studio guidelines include opportunities for guided practice and, with instructor approval based on demonstrated safe use, access to studio rental time. A selection of beverages is available for purchase, including craft, imported, and domestic beers, craft cider and seltzer, plus assorted non-alcoholic options and bottled water. Outside alcohol is not permitted. Cash and all major credit cards are accepted.

4-Week Beginner Wheel Throwing

Explore wheel throwing in a friendly, beginner focused course that spans four weeks. Class size is limited to two students, keeping instruction personal and hands on. Work closely with an experienced instructor who tailors each session to your goals, whether you want to make bowls, cylinders, plates, or vases, while you build confidence and learn essential skills in a relaxed, creative setting. In the first week, get familiar with the clay used in the studio and how to prepare it, watch a demonstration aligned with your chosen form, then try the wheel to create two or three pieces that will be set aside for trimming. The second week centers on trimming those pieces and experimenting with surface decoration that matches your design style. The third week returns to the wheel for additional throwing practice, focusing on refining technique and consistency. The final week wraps up with trimming your latest work and an introduction to glazing to prepare everything for its final firing. All materials and firings are included, and a separate glazing session will be scheduled after your pieces are bisque fired. Over the four weeks, expect to create and refine multiple clay pieces with close guidance in a supportive, small group environment.

4-Week Beginner Wheel Throwing

This four-week, hands-on beginner wheel throwing course welcomes complete newcomers as well as those with a little experience who want to build skills in a supportive small-group setting with a maximum of two students per class. Participants work closely with an experienced instructor who tailors the learning plan to individual goals, whether aiming to make bowls, cylinders, plates, or vases, all in a relaxed and creative environment. The first session introduces the clay used in the studio and proper preparation, followed by a demonstration aligned with each participant’s interests. Students then try the wheel and typically create two to three pieces, which are set aside to trim in the next session. The second session centers on trimming those pieces and exploring surface decoration based on personal design preferences. The third session returns to throwing new work with a focus on refining technique and building confidence. The final session covers last trims and an introduction to glazing so the work is ready for its final firing. Glazing takes place in a separate session after the pieces are bisque fired. Enrollment includes four weeks of personalized instruction for a maximum of two students, the opportunity to create and refine multiple clay pieces with trimming and decoration, all materials and firings, and a separate glazing session.

Allgood

At The Society Garden, Allgood Music Company honors 35 years of Ride The Bee, the record that fueled their early 90s momentum in Southern blues rock and the jam band world. Born in Athens, Georgia, the band built a loyal following with a gritty, guitar-forward sound rooted in boogie, blues, and long, freewheeling jams, touring tirelessly and sharing stages with many standout acts of the era. Released in the early 90s, Ride The Bee captured that full-tilt, road-tested energy. Storytellers Macon Presents: Next Week Has Been Exhausting

Storytellers Macon gathers at Grant's Lounge in Macon for an evening of true tales on the theme Next Week Has Been Exhausting. In partnership with CWN Career Women’s Network and featuring Greta O'Dell and Lisa West, with special guest host June O'Neal, the night explores the beautifully complicated and often funny reality of doing a lot, holding it together, and finding moments to laugh. From motherhood to meetings, group texts to grocery lists, big responsibilities to the tiny drains on energy, the stories focus on being overbooked, overwhelmed, overthinking, and still showing up. A casual social time leads into the storytelling, and CWN will host a meet-and-greet to share what the group is working on and connect with members. This is an open-mic event, and each story is limited to five minutes. Please keep in mind that stories are uncensored, except for hate speech, when considering bringing children. The music blends classic blues roots with hazy, distorted textures often associated with shoegaze, resulting in songs that carry emotional weight and a fearless spirit.
