Enriched Air Nitrox Class

Looking to spend more time on the reef and less time waiting topside between dives? Training in enriched air nitrox can help. By reducing the percentage of nitrogen in your breathing mix, your body absorbs less nitrogen during a dive, which can lead to shorter off-gassing and a noticeable reduction in post-dive fatigue. This single evening in the classroom at Neptune Dive & Ski focuses on EAN dive planning and safety, with a strong focus on personally verifying the contents of your cylinder before entering the water. There is no pool work, and the session runs about two hours. To participate, you must be a certified Open Water Diver or currently enrolled in an OWD course. The program uses a home study format, so all online coursework needs to be finished before arrival. During the class, key concepts are reviewed, the final exam is completed, and then you will practice hands-on cylinder analysis. Friday MTG Modern

Planeswalkers can look forward to a free Friday Night Magic gathering in the Modern format at Cool Stuff Games Augusta. The tournament uses a Swiss structure, with the number of rounds and any top cut determined by attendance, and it requires at least four players. It is a friendly place to try a new brew or fine-tune a proven list ahead of larger competitions. Each entry contributes $5 in store credit to the prize pool, with distribution handled by the manager on duty while supplies last. A judge is available to answer rules questions during matches, though they will not offer strategic advice or tell players what choices to make. Trading is allowed, but buying or selling with anyone other than store staff is prohibited and may lead to removal from the property, permanent bans, or police involvement. The store may also limit the space used for trading and does not allow suitcases, handcarts, luggage carts, or similar items for transporting large volumes of trade stock. Please keep food and drinks off the tables unless signage indicates otherwise, and avoid horseplay, roughhousing, rude or discourteous behavior, and foul language. Report any lost or unattended items to a staff member. The emphasis is on having fun. For questions or concerns, send a Facebook message, and for suggestions or issues not covered, speak with the Tournament Organizer or a sales associate in the store.

Draft Night

Planeswalkers can dive into a Magic draft FNM where the table chooses the set from what is in stock. If only four players are present, the event still runs using Magic’s pick two draft, with three packs per player and two-card picks before passing. Entry fees vary based on the set selected. The four player version uses two Swiss rounds, and prizes award first place four packs or 14 dollars in store credit and second place two packs or 7 dollars in store credit, depending on pack availability. Standard eight player pods draft three packs per person and play Swiss, best of three, with no top cut, and prizing adds two packs per participant to the pool or 7 dollars in store credit per pack. An example for sixteen players pays out sixteen packs or 56 dollars in credit for first, eight packs or 28 dollars for second, and four packs or 14 dollars for third and fourth, or the Top 4 can split for eight packs or 28 dollars each. A judge may be called for rules questions or interactions at any point, though judges do not provide strategic advice. Trading is allowed, but buying or selling with anyone other than Cool Stuff Games staff, or soliciting to do so elsewhere, is prohibited and may result in removal, a permanent ban, and possible police involvement. Cool Stuff Games may also limit space used for trading and does not permit suitcases, handcarts, luggage carts, or similar items for transporting large amounts of trade stock. Please keep food and drinks off tables unless signage says otherwise, avoid horseplay, roughhousing, discourteous behavior, or foul language, and report any lost or unattended items to a Cool Stuff Games staff member. Questions are welcome through Facebook Message, and suggestions can be shared with the Tournament Organizer or a sales associate in store. Have fun.

Author Talk + Signing with Cathy Goldberg Fishman

An author talk and signing with Cathy Goldberg Fishman highlights the release of A Walk in the Forest, a new counting book that guides children through forests across the world and the cultures connected to them. Known for the award winning A Walk in the City series, she shifts the focus from urban life to the natural world, showing how numbers, nature, and tradition can come together. Young readers encounter sequoias, banyans, and baobabs as simple, rhythmic text builds a steady count from page to page. A diverse cast of characters shares cultural perspectives, paired with vivid papercraft artwork that evokes the collage tradition associated with Ezra Jack Keats. The conversation offers insights from Fishman’s experiences in children’s publishing, along with a book signing. Cathy Goldberg Fishman was born in Mesa, Arizona, grew up in Atlanta, and has worked as an elementary school teacher, door to door encyclopedia salesperson, day care director, community college writing instructor, and with the Augusta Jewish Federation. Draft Night!

Settle in for a Magic: The Gathering Limited Draft where the table selects any in-stock set to open. Entry cost is based on the set chosen. If only four players are seated, the event runs as a pick two draft, with three booster packs per player and two cards selected each pick before passing. That pod plays two Swiss rounds with 50-minute matches. Prizes for the four-player pick two include 4 packs or $14 in store credit for first and 2 packs or $7 in store credit for second, subject to pack availability. With eight players, the draft uses three packs per person to start. Matches are best of three in Swiss rounds at 50 minutes, with no top cut, and the prize pool adds two packs or $7 in store credit per participant. An example payout for a 16-player field offers 16 packs or $56 in store credit to first, 8 packs or $28 to second, and 4 packs or $14 to third and fourth, or the top four can opt to split at 8 packs or $28 each. Judges are available for rules and interaction clarifications but will not provide strategic advice. Trading is permitted, but buying or selling with anyone other than Cool Stuff Games staff is not allowed and may result in removal, a permanent ban, and possible involvement of law enforcement. The store may limit the space used for trading, and large transporting items like suitcases or carts are not permitted for excessive trade stock. Please keep food and drinks off tables except where noted, and refrain from horseplay, roughhousing, disrespectful behavior, or foul language. Report any lost or unattended items to staff. For questions or concerns, reach out via Facebook Message or speak with the Tournament Organizer or a sales associate in store.
