OMG Open Mic Group Awards

This event spotlights the OMG Awards Program, a community-led effort that highlights, supports, and uplifts local musicians across Central Florida while building strong connections between performers, venues, and neighbors. Its mission is to champion local music, honor standout work, and strengthen the community. Week after week, musicians bring energy to restaurants, lounges, wineries, clubs, and entertainment spaces, creating memorable experiences for audiences and value for local businesses. The program recognizes those contributions and encourages professionalism, mentorship, networking, and community involvement so artists, venues, and residents grow together. An annual awards banquet sits at the center of the effort, recognizing honorees with a vision to feature multiple professional bands and entertainers, creating additional paid stage opportunities for local musicians and a memorable experience for attendees. The initiative underscores how live music does more than entertain, since it draws customers, deepens engagement, and supports local economies. Central Florida, including The Villages, is home to a particularly active scene, with many residents enjoying live performances each week. Funding is expected to come from sponsorships, advertising, donations, ticket sales, and community partnerships, giving businesses a way to support live entertainment while being acknowledged for their role. Volunteers are essential across sponsorship outreach, event planning, nominations, marketing, logistics, and community engagement. A long term goal is to nurture emerging artists through recognition, networking, mentorship, and performance experience, helping raise the quality and professionalism of live entertainment throughout the region. This gathering reflects a shared commitment to celebrate excellence, support local businesses, and shine a light on the musicians who make live music possible.

Classic Meets Cool with Barron Ryan

Barron Ryan showcases a piano artistry that blends classical roots with the drive of jazz and ragtime and the pop sensibility he heard at home, creating music that feels both rooted in tradition and freshly modern. The son of two musicians, he began lessons with his father at age four, excelled through his school years in Tulsa, and studied piano performance at The University of Oklahoma. After facing rejections from the conservatories he applied to and a brief detour into satirical hip hop, he won the Oklahoma Israel Exchange Young Artist competition in 2011 and, during the Israel tour that followed, clarified his artistic voice. That path led to his debut album, Classical with Attitude, celebrating the joy he found in jazz and ragtime, and to The Masters’ Apprentice, a salute to jazz greats shaped by closely studying and performing their solos. This event highlights his cross-genre approach, where refined technique meets contemporary flair.

Three On A String In Concert

Three on a String brings more than five decades of stage experience to this concert, tracing its roots to a 1971 duo performance by Jerry and Bobby at Horse Pens 40 near Steel, Alabama, before adding bass and launching a long run of shows. Through the years the group has appeared with symphony orchestras in multiple states, including a nine city tour with the Alabama Symphony, and has opened for performers such as Bill Cosby, Red Skelton, Barbara Mandrel, Jeff Foxworthy, George Lindsey, and Ray Stevens. Their calendar has also included concerts for arts councils, chambers of commerce, Landmark Theatres, and community celebrations. Jerry Ryan left a career in education to perform as a guitarist, singer, and harmonica player. Bobby Horton is a multi-instrumentalist who plays more than 20 instruments, from trumpet and banjo to dobro, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, and Irish pipes, and he has contributed to no fewer than ten PBS documentaries by Ken Burns, including The Civil War, Lewis and Clark, and Baseball, while also presenting Civil War music on college campuses. Brad serves as the regular bassist and adds fiddle, guitar, and occasional piano, has created commercial music including the Rick and Bubba theme song, and leads worship at Springville Methodist Church. Former member Andy Meginniss has returned to the lineup, bringing experience from his work with Clair Lynch and appearances at the Grand Ole Opry, while also serving as Music Leader at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and performing with several Birmingham area bands. Despite the name, the current show features four performers who lean into that running joke, offering a family friendly program built on skill, camaraderie, and the simple goal of sending audiences out in higher spirits than when they arrived.

3rd Annual Americano Tournament

This Americano is all about paddles, not coffee. The 3rd Annual Americano Tournament at Eisenhower Regional Recreational Center features a fun, fair, social format where you rotate partners each round until you have teamed up with every participant. Each round is played to 16 points, every player serves four times with two chances to land each serve, and you and your partner keep the points you earn before moving on with a new teammate. For example, if the game ends 10 to 6, both players on the winning side record 10 points and the other two record 6. Expect a relaxed way to meet fellow paddlers along with prizes for the top three, which will be announced closer to the event, and the return of bag tags. Please note that the top three finishers will not be eligible to compete in other beginner tournaments. Eligibility is open to anyone who is not currently ranked or who is ranked B2 or below, and membership in the Villages PT club is not required. The field size must be divisible by four, with a target of at least 24 participants and no upper limit. Match flow depends on court availability, so a portable chair can make breaks more comfortable and cheering between rounds is encouraged. Registration is available through a link shared by email.
