SBC 20K River Race

The Sanford Bicycle Club is staging a free 20K trial race on the Riverwalk to test a potential future charity event. Participants gather at Dees Brothers Brewery and ride together to Veterans Memorial Park, which serves as the official start and finish. At the horn, the route heads west along the Riverwalk for 10 kilometers, turns around, and returns 10 kilometers to the park. After the finish, the group pedals back to Dees Brothers Brewery to celebrate. Entry is free and race bibs are provided. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers, with bragging rights included. The field is open to all skill levels, from fast riders to casual cyclists, with the option to race hard or enjoy a scenic ride along Lake Monroe.

Longwood Luau

Reiter Park hosts the City of Longwood’s biggest free family luau, presented by the City of Longwood and Aloha Productions Luau. Highlights include fire-knife shows, a featured performance by Aloha Productions, live Hawaiian music, and hula by the School of Tahiti Tamure. Sanford's Saturday Social Ride

Enjoy a friendly social ride that most often follows the Lake Monroe Loop for about 28 miles, with occasional alternate routes to discover more of the community. Distances generally range from 28 to 34 miles. Two pace groups are available and are determined by average speed rather than rolling speed, at 15 to 17 mph and 17 to 19 mph. Helmets are required, and recumbents and e-bikes are welcome. Cycling involves inherent risks, and participants accept responsibility for their own safety; a waiver and release in favor of Bicikleta Bike Shop applies.

BAT 10th Annual ABR - The Ride to Eradicate Human Trafficking

Twin Lake Restoration

The Seminole County Lake Management Program and the SERV Program are organizing a shoreline planting effort at Twin Lake to support ecosystem health, enhance wildlife habitat, and improve water quality. Work will take place in the water, so expect to get wet and muddy. Participation is free. Closed toe shoes are required, such as boots, water shoes, or old sneakers that can get wet. Wearing old clothes, bringing work gloves, and using sun protection are recommended, and sun and insect protection may also be helpful. Two groups are available, with pacing based on average speed rather than rolling speed, at approximately 15 to 17 mph and 17 to 19 mph. Helmets are required. Recumbents and e-bikes are welcome. 5th Annual Sanford's Ride To Freedom

Now in its fifth year, Sanford’s Ride To Freedom is a community cycling experience centered at Historic Hopper Academy. It honors Florida’s Emancipation Day by shining a light on Sanford’s Black history, connecting riders with significant buildings and neighborhoods while encouraging reflection, unity, and pride. The route features landmarks such as Hopper Academy, a historically Black school dating to 1906 in Georgetown, a neighborhood founded by early Black pioneers around 1870. It also explores Georgetown itself, located east of Sanford Avenue and north of Celery Avenue, where lots were sold by Henry Sanford to pioneers arriving from Virginia, the Carolinas, West Florida, and the West Indies, and which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2020. Midway, also known as Canaan City, traces its roots to a migrant settlement during the celery boom of the 1920s, with residents present as early as 1865 to 1890, and its name shortens “The Midway Point,” the spot between two wells on Sipes Avenue used for drinking water and livestock. Goldsboro, incorporated in 1891 by William Clark, is recognized as the second African American incorporated city in the United States. If the City of Sanford had not annexed it, Central Florida would have counted two all Black incorporated cities, Eatonville and Goldsboro. The ride also highlights Crooms Academy, Seminole County’s first high school for African American students founded in 1926 by Joseph N. Crooms, now operating as Crooms Academy of Information Technology, and Bookertown, once known as Monroe’s Colored Section, where the first African American residents arrived in 1885 to work on the railroads and where streets were named in 1926 for prominent figures in African American history, with the community taking its name from Booker Taliaferro Washington. Additional experiences include a roll along the Sanford/Orlando International Airport terminal curbside for a perspective few rides offer, and time on the Sanford RiverWalk, a waterfront path that began as a sidewalk idea in 1995 and grew into a popular multi use trail and destination.

19th Annual Hurricane Party Music Festival!

West End Trading Co. and Kona Big Wave present the 19th Annual Hurricane Party Music Festival in Sanford, showcasing a full day of ska, punk, and reggae. The Supervillains perform two complete sets, and reunion appearances feature The Spitvalves and Skif Dank. The bill also includes Against All Authority, Mustard Plug, The Toasters, Dial Drive, and Piñata Protest, with additional artists to be announced as the roster expands to more than 20 bands. Myrtle Lake Restoration

Help restore Myrtle Lake during a volunteer planting effort led by the Seminole County Lake Management Program and the SERV Program. The project focuses on installing shoreline vegetation to support a healthier ecosystem, create habitat, and enhance water quality. Work will take place in the water, so expect to get wet and muddy. There is no fee to participate. Closed toe footwear is required, such as boots, water shoes, or old sneakers suitable for getting wet. The monthly Sunday Sin Metu Race offers open sailing for anyone interested. The start window will be announced two days in advance to reflect conditions. Course details will be posted at the clubhouse before the race begins. Everyone is welcome on the water, and only club members are eligible for the drawing.

Native Plant Garden Workday: Dig In!

Take part in a hands-on garden workday supporting the UF/IFAS Florida-Friendly Landscaping Demonstration Garden at UF IFAS Extension Seminole County. Led by Susan Carpenter, this easy volunteer opportunity focuses on native plants and offers practical outdoor learning while helping maintain and enhance the garden. Bring a shovel, trowel, gloves, a hat, sunscreen, water, and a snack, and feel free to bring refreshments to share. Please complete the event waiver before participating. Head to the garden near the arbor on the west side of the building. The Florida-Friendly Landscaping program guides the effort with principles that conserve water, reduce pollution, and protect natural resources. Highlights include putting the right plant in the right place, watering efficiently, fertilizing appropriately, using mulch, supporting wildlife, managing pests responsibly, recycling yard waste, reducing stormwater runoff, and safeguarding waterfronts. Choosing native plants supports local biodiversity, typically requires less water and fewer chemicals, connects with regional heritage, and creates landscapes rich in color, texture, and form.

"Gather to Celebrate" Art Exhibit

An exhibition explores the universal urge to come together for life’s meaningful moments. Drawing inspiration from the United States’ 250th anniversary, it looks beyond milestones to the many ways people celebrate across cultures, generations, and neighborhoods. Works on view may portray parades, festivals, and civic gatherings, as well as personal occasions like weddings, birthdays, graduations, and enduring family traditions. Through varied mediums and viewpoints, the show highlights how gatherings, whether joyful, contemplative, or ceremonial, strengthen connection, keep memories alive, and affirm identity. Together these perspectives create a welcoming portrait of celebration as a shared human experience. The exhibition is presented in the Temporary Exhibit Gallery at the Museum of Seminole County History as part of SCAC’s Art in Public Places Program.

DELTONA PRIDE Meet & Greet

A Pride meet and greet brings the community together at Boston Coffee House for conversation and connection. LGBTQ+ people, allies, and supporters can mingle, make new acquaintances, and share experiences in a welcoming setting. Food and drinks are available for purchase while guests chat. The focus is on celebrating love, inclusion, and unity in Deltona.

Songs Through the Years Dining Cruise Aboard the Barbara Lee W/ Allan Coffin

Set sail for a music-filled outing as Allan Coffin presents Songs Through the Years, a tribute show that spans country, rock ’n’ roll, blues, heartfelt ballads, and modern favorites. The performance moves briskly from one classic to the next, inviting sing-alongs, seat-dancing, and relaxed moments taking in the view. As the ship glides along the St. Johns River and Lake Monroe, enjoy a freshly prepared four-course meal from the onboard galley. Reserved seating in an enclosed, climate-controlled dining room and full table service create a comfortable, unhurried experience. Guests can choose between a lunch cruise or a dinner cruise. Pricing is $79 per adult for lunch and $98 per adult for dinner. Departures are from the Historic Downtown Sanford Marina, turning a scenic river escape into a celebration of timeless songs and good times on the water.
