Thistle & Thorne Open Mic
A weekly open mic at Thistle & Thorne in downtown Panama City welcomes performers of every age and skill level, hosted by local musician and entertainer and event planner Nicky Sunflower. Musicians receive a 15-minute slot, typically enough for about four songs, and keep any tips. Bring your own instrument, since this is not karaoke. Original backing tracks are welcome, and a USB-C to AUX connection can be provided. The setup currently favors solo performers. You may bring an additional amp to accompany someone, and any setup time counts toward your slot. A cappella, comedy, and poetry are also invited, with spoken word sets running 8 minutes. The space is family friendly, so material should remain clean and respectful. Sign-up is available online or in person, and if you are not checked in 10 minutes before your turn, your spot may be reassigned. Short performance clips of about 30 seconds may be recorded and shared to the venue’s Facebook story unless you ask otherwise, and Nicky can send those videos on request.
