Set within the StarHouse, this breathwork gathering centers on presence, safety, and genuine connection. Participants are welcomed into a caring container where every part of themselves can be seen, felt, and honored, with an emphasis on turning toward what seeks attention and expression without clinging to stories. The evening unfolds with arrival and check-in, a period of authentic relating, time to set up a personal nest, a guided breathwork experience, and a closing for integration. The practice uses circular or connected breathing, inviting an active inhale and a soft, surrendered exhale while resting in a supportive position. It is designed to nourish transformation on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels, and is known to engage inner awareness for greater clarity. No prior experience is required, and a skilled facilitation team is present to support deeper work with care and competency. Please come prepared with a mat to lie on, a pillow, a blanket, and a water bottle, as extra supplies are not provided. Items that may enhance comfort include something to cushion under the knees, an additional mat or blanket, an eye mask, and a personal intention for the session. Wear comfortable clothing suitable for an extended time lying down. Plan to arrive with enough time to walk from the parking area to the venue and complete check-in. Guidance is offered by Danny Balgooyen, a breathwork guide, conscious dance DJ, and facilitator with roughly a decade of experience. He co-founded Inner Light Revival Breathwork and Boulder Ecstatic Dance and focuses on presence, safety, and honest emotional exploration while nurturing community in Boulder. He is joined by Sophie Howell, a multidisciplinary facilitator and sound healer who brings creativity, ceremony, and empowerment to her work. She co-founded Everland and The Goddess Temple in Denver and supports growth-oriented experiences rooted in meaning and integrity. Together they hold a container devoted to connection and community. If cost is a barrier, communication with the organizer is welcomed to discuss what is feasible. All sales are final, though tickets may be transferred to another person in advance and the original holder is responsible for arranging the exchange. Questions about ticketing or participation are not addressed immediately before the gathering. Purchasing a ticket includes consent to be added to the artist mailing list.
StarHouseBrewed at Altitude: A Beer Lover's History of Colorado
Explore Colorado’s past through the lens of beer, from the gold rush era when saloons served as post offices, restaurants, hotels, social clubs, and union halls, to the years the state went dry after banning alcohol ahead of national Prohibition. The narrative follows beer’s return, the resurgence that made brewing big business by the 1970s, and the rise of professional craft from homebrewing that has helped make Colorado a renowned destination for a pint. This presentation offers a tour of state history as seen through a pint glass, more than just a tale of ale. Historians Sam Bock and Jason L. Hanson lead the program. Bock is History Colorado’s director of interpretation and publications and is from Boulder, Colorado. He was the lead exhibition developer for Beer Here! Brewing the New West, has written extensively on the state’s brewing past, and completed graduate work in history at the University of Colorado Boulder. Hanson is the Chief Creative Officer at History Colorado, has written and lectured widely about brewing history, and co-authored A Ditch in Time: The City, The West, and Water. When it comes to beer, he describes himself as an aficionado rather than a connoisseur, a lover rather than a snob.

Challenges & Trade-offs in Achieving 100% Clean Electricity
The Boulder County chapter presents an in-person talk at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder, Colorado, featuring Ron Sinton, President of Sinton Instruments, as part of a speaker series on what it takes to reach fully clean electricity and the compromises involved. The program examines how solar and wind pair with storage and natural gas to deliver affordable power, using clear explanations that help people visualize and interpret more detailed energy plans. It also addresses the reality that choices must be made amid uncertainty, with cost playing a central role because affordable clean electricity is key to speeding up cleaner transportation and heating, each of which currently produces more emissions than the electric sector in Colorado. Networking and light refreshments will be available before the program. Ron Sinton brings more than four decades of experience advancing high-efficiency silicon solar cells, beginning with a PhD in Applied Physics from Stanford and early work as a founding member of SunPower. He leads Sinton Instruments in Boulder, producing instruments used for solar cell research and manufacturing. Over the past decade, he has focused on the transition to a renewable grid and has served as an expert witness in five proceedings before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, advocating for a rapid shift to low-cost clean energy in the state.

Thistle Community GalleryRavi Kaiut -- "The Kaiut Yoga Method"
At Boulder Bookstore, Ravi Kaiut will discuss his new book, The Kaiut Yoga Method, and sign copies. He explains how many concerns often blamed on aging can be traced to a gradual decline in joint function and the related impact on the nervous system. Rather than focusing on strength and flexibility alone, he emphasizes the role of joint health in shaping resilience and influencing how we age. When movement narrows, the brain adapts in limiting ways. The book outlines a clear, mechanical approach intended to rebuild joint integrity as a foundation for long-term well-being, with aims that include easing chronic pain, improving mobility, and supporting lasting vitality at any stage of life. Tickets are $5 plus a small processing fee. Each ticket includes a $5 coupon to use toward a copy of The Kaiut Yoga Method or another purchase made the day of the event, which will be provided at the venue. The event is held on the second floor, and reasonable accommodations are available upon request.

An evening of roots rock spotlights three women-led bands, blending grit, soul, and high-voltage performances. Expect bold vocals, searing guitars, and songs drawn from personal experience, all woven into a program that celebrates the wide range of roots music and the stories that tie it together. The Teresa Storch Band grew from the meeting of a Boston singer songwriter and a guitarist shaped by the New Jersey jam scene. Teresa Storch and Peter Lacis, now partners in life and music, perform with Chad Mathis on bass and Christopher Wright on drums. Their set can shift from reflective ballads to dance-ready jam rock, carried by memorable lyrics and guitar-centric hooks. Mackenzie Rae & Buckshot Moon move easily between intimate ballads and rowdy rockabilly. Their storytelling shines through rich vocal blends, detailed playing, and a mix of drive and delicacy. The lineup features Mackenzie Rae on vocals, guitar, and keys, Todd Redmond on guitars and vocals, Ryan Parker on bass guitar and vocals, and Christopher Wright on drums. Jenny Shawhan brings a voice that commands attention. Listeners have drawn parallels to Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, Alison Krauss, and Dolly Parton, yet her sound remains wholly her own, shaped by lived experience and delivered with clarity. Her album Don't Be Afraid was produced by award-winning producer, engineer, and steel guitarist John Macy, whose work includes Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Gladys Knight & The Pips, and Los Lobos.

Later releases, including a two song single and the Fishin' For You EP, further widened his sound. The Brook & The Bluff arrive with Werewolf, a stage-ready collection that leans into louder guitars, faster tempos and four-part harmonies while keeping the band’s sharp songwriting front and center. After years of touring and earning over 200 million streams with songs like Halfway Up and Everything Is Just a Mess, they regrouped in Nashville to rehearse together daily and write with the chemistry that first carried them from Auburn University to venues around the country. New tracks draw on the spirit of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Tom Petty, Eagles and Little Feat, from the open-road rush of 105 and the swagger of Get By to Super Bowl Sunday, which wrestles with ego, masculinity and the pull of competing priorities. Even the gentler moments land with impact, as three-part harmonies color Baby Blue and ringing acoustics lift Can’t Figure It Out. In the studio they recorded together in real time, often capturing full takes to channel the energy of their live show. Lucy Clearwater brings an intimate folk Americana sound shaped by a classical violin background and a love of the natural world. Now based in Los Angeles, she has released a series of singles and EPs, sold out The Hotel Cafe and appeared at The Troubadour, The Roxy and The El Rey. Her music reflects the influence of Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Lucinda Williams, and international touring has seen her share stages with artists including Joe Pug, John Craigie, Madison Cunningham, Victoria Canal, Ocie Elliott, Ye Vagabonds, Philine Sonny and Luca Fogale. She earned the New Folk award at the Kerrville Folk Festival and later returned for a main stage set. Several songs from her debut album, People ≠ Possessions, produced by Grammy winner Tyler Chester, are already out and showcase her heartfelt writing and rich acoustic textures.

The bar serves cocktails, beer, wine, cider, and seltzers, along with snacks and coffee to round out the evening. Trouble’s Braids, from Boulder, brings an energetic, sharp-edged folk sound. Performances have included stages and platforms such as Boulder Theater, Roots Music Festival, KRFC, KGNU, St. Julien Hotel, Gold Hill, Trident, Highlands Street Festival, Rock Inn, Spirit Hound Distillery, Globe Hall, and more. Areymá, an Afro-Latinx singer-songwriter, approaches performance as storytelling. Drawing on Latin music, soul, R&B, jazz, and reflective late-night conversations, she prioritizes connection over polish. With more than a decade of performing and songwriting, listeners often describe her work as a mirror that reflects their own stories. Her music encourages people to slow down, feel deeply, and remember they are not alone. The End Lafayette is a 75-capacity room tucked inside the recording studios at Dog House Music, offering close-up concerts in the studio setting. Many performers craft and record their songs in these very rooms, and the venue highlights Colorado artists who are shaping the local scene. eTown presents a special album release performance from Greg Schochet & Little America, celebrating Wyoming In the Windshield. Projects include making non-toxic bug spray, blending calming teas for tummy upsets, preparing simple herbal decoctions for fevers, and discussing gentle approaches to minor bumps and sniffles with plants they can see and touch. Along the way, participants pick up age-friendly insights into the body, from how breathing and digestion work to which herbs may be helpful for colds, coughs, or headaches. They even hear about a local tree whose bark offers approximately SPF 15. Learning unfolds in outdoor spaces and a kitchen classroom, with time to roam nearby open areas where stick forts, imagination, and field botany mix. Classic summer fun pops up too, such as occasional sprinkler play, so a swimsuit may be handy on those days. Kathryn Wilder -- "The Last Cows," with Karen Auvinen
Author Kathryn Wilder appears at Boulder Bookstore to discuss and sign The Last Cows: On Ranching, Wonder, and a Woman’s Heart, in conversation with Karen Auvinen. The book follows life on nineteen thousand acres in southwest Colorado where Wilder and her son, with help from family, raise Criollo cattle, a Spanish heritage breed that is lighter than many European breeds and adapted to desert landscapes. She reflects on holistic management, organically raised beef that is grass fed and finished and sold through local markets, and the realities of sustaining demanding ranch work as she nears seventy, asking what a truly regenerative relationship between cattle and the desert can be. Interweaving personal narrative with biology, geology, and both natural and human history, she offers a candid portrait of ranching life and the values that guide it. Tickets are $5 plus a small processing fee and include a $5 coupon to use toward a copy of The Last Cows or another same-day purchase, which will be provided at the event. Events take place on the second floor, and those needing reasonable accommodation can contact the bookstore.
