Mulching Mondays is an opportunity to learn about the gardens while pitching in with practical tasks that support a flourishing season. The session focuses on mulching and hands-on garden care in a welcoming, educational setting.

2026 Stewards of Children by Darkness to Light

Attend a free community training to learn about preventing child sexual abuse. Stewards of Children® teaches adults how to take practical actions to reduce instances of child sexual abuse in their organizations, families, and communities. The training features interviews with a diverse group of people, including experts and treatment providers. It is an award-winning, evidence-informed training proven to increase knowledge and change behavior. The training is delivered in a trauma-informed way by rigorously trained instructors and facilitators and features videos paired with facilitated discussion. Participants will learn three foundational empowerment skills: making choices that protect children, taking risks to minimize danger to children, and supporting each other. The training highlights The 5 Steps to Protecting Children™ and how to apply them. Light refreshments will be provided, and continuing education credits for social workers are pending. Free parking is available onsite.

Spring Fling Kids Night

Spring comes to life at Chick-fil-A Patteson Drive with a family friendly kids event featuring a spring themed craft, a playful photo booth for keepsake snapshots, and time to meet the Cow mascot. It is a simple way for children and caregivers to make memories and welcome the season together.

Paint a fairy cottage with Britney

This hands-on class focuses on painting a fairy cottage with guidance from Britney. Each ticket includes a dip appetizer and a refillable drink.

Tuesday Evening Preschool Storytime

This spring session offers an evening storytime for children ages 2 to 6. Kids and their caregivers can start with open play at hands-on stations featuring games, crafts, and other activities, then gather for circle time with stories and songs. For details, call the library at 304-291-7425.

WVUniverse presents:"Touching Infinity: Imaging Black Holes and Testing Gravity"

The spring WVUniverse series concludes with a talk by physicist Professor Dimitrios Psaltis, whose work has advanced ways to test Einstein’s general relativity in regions of intense gravity using electromagnetic observations of black holes and neutron stars. Once thought beyond reach, photographing black holes became possible with the Event Horizon Telescope, enabling some of the strongest tests of Einstein’s ideas in the universe’s most extreme settings. Designed for curious minds of all ages, WVUniverse offers free public talks that end with a fun trivia game for a chance at prizes. This session explores how black holes can be imaged, what those images reveal about gravity, and where the future of visual observation and exploration may lead, with the presentation taking place in the WVU Planetarium dome.

Paper Making Workshop

Explore the art of making your own paper in a class that shows how to create sheets and personalize them. Try combining different colors, incorporate texture, and experiment with additional techniques to make each page unique. Suitable for participants of all ages. Instruction is led by Kadijiha Jones. The fee is $10 per student.

Swing Night

Shake off the midweek slump with a casual swing dance night at Monongalia Arts Center. Expect an easygoing atmosphere with swing tunes and friendly faces, designed for absolute beginners through experienced dancers. No experience is required, and there is no need to bring a partner or special shoes. The evening begins with an all-levels lesson that covers the basics in a low-pressure way, then the floor opens for social dancing with plenty of jazz and swing, followed by a next levels session geared toward beginner to intermediate dancers. Each lesson features fresh material. Sliding scale donations are welcomed, with tiers including Swing Supporter at $1 to $5, Lindy Leader at $6 to $10, and Big Band Patron at $11 or more. Street parking and city lots are available. Morgantown Swing welcomes all ages and skill levels and aims to bring people together to express themselves through dance in a supportive, inviting environment.

Spring Field Trip: WVU Core Arboretum

Birdwatchers can explore a well known spot for viewing numerous Neotropical migrants during the spring migration. Participants meet at the arboretum entrance next to the parking lot.

Wind Symphony & Symphonic Band

The Influence Collective: A Gathering of West Virginia Leaders

Inner Action Media hosts an intentional gathering that brings together leaders, builders, and thinkers from across West Virginia. It is not a standard networking event, since there are no speeches or formal talks. The emphasis is on genuine conversation, exchanging perspectives, and forming meaningful connections among peers. VIP Bartender Night for Homeward Bound WV

Local VIPs take over the bar at Kegler’s, downstairs, competing for top bartender bragging rights in support of Homeward Bound WV. A special biker hour is part of the evening. Visible Mending Workshop

Discover how to repair well-loved garments using Japanese Sashiko techniques with local artist and musician becks!. This hands-on visible mending workshop helps breathe new life into denim, sweatshirts, and more while reducing waste, stitch by stitch. No prior experience is required. Bring a clothing item to mend or to practice on, and please keep any tears or holes under 2 inches to stay within the session time.

Kassar's Games hosts a local Pokemon event using the constructed format. The focus is on constructed play throughout the event.

Clips and Conversation

Metropolitan Theatre hosts an evening of film clips and conversation with directors Erik and Chris Ewers and producer Susan Shumaker, a Morgantown native. The program features a screening followed by a Q&A with the audience, offering a deeper look at their PBS biography of Henry David Thoreau. Executive producers Ken Burns and Don Henley are behind the project, with narration and voices by Jeff Goldblum, George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Ted Danson, and Tate Donovan. The film traces Thoreau’s influence on environmentalism and nonviolent resistance, examines his ideas about justice, the health of the planet, and living meaningfully, and connects his legacy to figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Colin Kaepernick, and Greta Thunberg. A VIP option includes a post-screening reception with the filmmakers featuring drinks and light refreshments. Tickets are limited, and a portion of proceeds benefits the West Virginia Land Trust.

Children ages 5 to 12 can build confidence by reading aloud to trained therapy dogs. These patient pups are happy to listen to stories and enjoy the occasional tummy rub while they relax nearby. Showcase of Dance

Closing out the academic year, this production spotlights original student choreography by both new and returning creators. The program ranges from tap to contemporary, with additional styles in between for an eclectic mix. Taking place in the Antoinette E. Falbo Theatre inside the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center, the event is presented under the artistic direction of Yoav Kaddar and celebrates a creative and productive year of dance.

WVU Symphony Orchestra

Part of the 2025 to 2026 season of the West Virginia University Symphony Orchestra, this performance takes place at the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center. The musicians look forward to sharing their music with listeners. Unless noted otherwise, concerts in this season are presented in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre within the center.

The Hurricane Hundred K Runner Education Series is coming to Country Roads Running Co. in Morgantown. Hear from local running legend and two-time Hurricane Hundred K champion, Alex Minor, about his running journey, his new shop, and his experiences at the Hurricane Hundred K. Young runner Jamison will also be there to discuss his ultramarathon preparation. The event will be recorded live as part of the Hurricane Hundred K Runner Profile Podcast Series. There will be food, drinks, and an opportunity to ask questions.

The Outdoor Classroom in Cheat Lake hosts open tour hours that welcome the public to meet birds currently in care and learn about the conservation of their wild counterparts. Putts for Patients

Putts for Patients is a charity golf outing at Lakeview Golf Resort that blends spirited play with giving. Organized by the North Central West Virginia Home Builders Association, golfers, industry partners, and community supporters gather for a day on the course to benefit local children and families through WVU Medicine Children’s. The day features golf, lighthearted contests, and on-course fun, along with opportunities to connect with local professionals and community leaders. The Miracle Ball returns as SteppingStones' signature fundraiser with a lively Kentucky Derby theme. WV Women’s Pinball League: Season 6

The West Virginia Women’s Pinball League welcomes women of every skill level for a friendly, social season that spans nine weeks, with the final week set aside for league finals and a planned break for Easter. During the opening week, players are placed into random groups and each group plays a bank of five machines. From the following week onward, pairings are organized to prioritize opponents you have not faced yet, and machine assignments are rotated to keep play as fair and varied as possible. Attendance is flexible. You can miss up to three weeks without affecting your overall score, and at least four weeks of participation are required to be included in results submitted to IFPA. Season dues are $20, with $16 going to player payouts, $3 to trophies, awards, and league materials, and $1 covering the IFPA fee.

The Psychic Overload Celebration arrives at Morgantown Art Party with Added Color returning to Morgantown on a path that threads through Brazil and New York. Morgantown Soundstreams: May Concert and Improv Lab

Hosted at the Monongalia Arts Center, Morgantown Soundstreams brings experimental, folk, and classical musicians together for performances followed by an improvisation lab. The series cultivates a welcoming setting where people of any background or experience level can make music together with a spirit of openness, respect, and curiosity. The format encourages listening, participation, and exploration of new sounds alongside the community. Headlining performers include Mason Atha and Claire Silbernagel, with additional musicians from the WVU School of Music to be announced. Admission is offered on a sliding scale from $0 to $15, and contributions at the door support the featured artists and space rental. No one is turned away due to lack of funds. Mommy & Me Canvas Painting Class

Create side-by-side paintings with your child at a Mommy & Me canvas class inside Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe at Suncrest Towne Centre. An instructor leads easy, step-by-step guidance so no experience is needed, and kids of all skill levels can feel confident finishing a bright, cheerful piece. The setting is relaxed and welcoming, with plenty of time for creativity, laughter, and memory-making. A $45 ticket includes an 11×14 canvas for mom, an 8×8 canvas for the child, two fountain drinks with free refills, and a freshly made dip with pita. Additional food from Taziki’s is available for purchase. Space is limited, and an extra child can be added for $15, which includes an additional 8×8 canvas and a fountain drink. At least one Mommy & Me ticket is required before adding an Extra Child ticket. If plans change, credits are offered for cancellations made ahead of time, while late cancellations are non-transferable. "Beacon Light: A History of OVGH/OVMC" Documentary Screening & Exhibit Opening

The William A. Neal Museum of the Health Sciences presents a screening of “Beacon Light: A History of Ohio Valley General Hospital and Ohio Valley Medical Center,” a documentary that chronicles the Wheeling institution’s service to the region from its founding in 1890 through its closure in 2019. The program also unveils a new exhibit focused on the OVGH School of Nursing, recognized as the first nursing school in West Virginia. The event offers a thoughtful mix of film, history, and reflection on the people and places that shaped Ohio Valley General Hospital and Ohio Valley Medical Center.

Physics and Astronomy Demo Day

White Hall transforms into a hub of hands on discovery with live physics and astronomy demonstrations and interactive stations. Morgantown Birding Cup

The seventh annual Morgantown Birding Cup brings bird enthusiasts together for a friendly, 24-hour challenge organized by the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia and Mountaineer Audubon. The aim is simple, have fun while tallying every species encountered during the count period. Participants can choose between two options. The at-home category focuses on birds found within walking or other non-motorized distance of home, while the at-large category opens the search to any locations within Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, and Taylor counties. Teams may include up to six people or just one, and larger families are welcome to participate together as a single team. All team members stay together while counting, and a sighting only counts when at least half of the team sees the bird. For at-home teams, meeting at one member’s residence and heading out on foot is acceptable. An in-person count party will be held at the ACCA’s Outdoor Classroom. Bird lists, including a total species count, can be emailed or delivered at the gathering. Lists may be kept in eBird or any format you prefer, and submitting to eBird also supports the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s global citizen science effort.

Tot Trek - May 2026

Explore Morgantown’s outdoor gems with a relaxed, family-friendly hike at the West Virginia Botanic Garden. Designed with little ones in mind, this outing moves at a toddler-friendly tempo and is geared for children ages 3 to 5. Infants or smaller children can come along in a carrier, and older siblings are welcome as long as they are comfortable with the slower pace. Along the way, participants will learn a few things about nature, and either before or after the walk there will be a theme-related story time or a simple craft. The cost is $5 per family. Plan to meet near the parking lot for The Terrace Event Center at the garden.

21st Annual Blue & Gold Mine Sale

Recognized as one of the largest rummage sales in West Virginia, this 21st annual event brings secondhand finds to Milan Puskar Stadium’s East Concourse at the student gate. Items are collected from across the community, from student move-outs to yard sale leftovers. The United Way of Mon and Preston Counties partners with the WVU Office of Sustainability to plan the sale, which keeps about 25 tons of goods out of landfills each year. Shoppers can opt for early access with a $5 admission, while regular entry is free. Later, there is a period when every item costs one dollar. More information will be shared soon.

Blue Jean Ball 2026

The Blue Jean Ball brings the regional community together to recognize and celebrate the special outdoor places that provide recreation, relaxation, health, and wellness, and contribute to clean air and water. Parks, trails, and other natural areas also help bolster the economy by serving as a magnet for visitorship and tourism and boosting local tax revenue. Previous events have helped develop trails, increase access and safety, and upgrade trailheads and signage at Toms Run Preserve and along the Mon River and Deckers Creek Rail-Trails. More preserves and trails are under development. Tickets are available for purchase, and sponsorships are welcome.

Girls’ Night Out 2026

The 18th annual edition of Girls’ Night Out features a new theme titled Lights. Glamour. Vegas. The celebration takes place at the Erickson Alumni Center.

The 2026 Greater Morgantown Heart Walk

Bluegrass in the Backwoods

TROPICS WV - Luau Lei & Lei Po'o Making Workshop
