Big CreekFundamentals of Acting - Ages 14+
Designed for teens and adults 14 and older, this welcoming theatre workshop invites anyone, from first-time performers to seasoned enthusiasts, to explore stagecraft and strengthen communication skills. Each session begins with energizing warmups, including playful orientation activities and voice and movement practice, then moves into rotating topics that build from week to week. Participants dive into core elements of performance such as cultivating presence, discovering personal expression, collaborating as an ensemble, developing characters, connecting with an audience, telling stories through physicality, and working thoughtfully with props and other theatrical tools. The environment emphasizes safety, encouragement, and growth so everyone can gain confidence and experience. The format is drop-in, so attending when able is easy. Payment follows a pay-what-you-can approach, supported by scholarships through a grant from Bader Philanthropies, with a suggested contribution of $25 per weekly class.
