COMMUNITY FILM SCREENING: MULTIPLE CHOICE

Northwest Career & Technical Academy presents a community screening of the documentary Multiple Choice at the Lincoln Theatre. Open to students, families, educators, and industry partners, the event encourages reflection on how every student can access multiple pathways to success. ALWAYS... PATSY CLINE

Returning to the Lincoln stage, this production features Ria Peth as Patsy Cline and Kelly Visten as Louise Seger, sharing the true story of a beloved country singer and the Houston fan who became her friend. The pair have performed these roles since 2010, appearing at the Lincoln in 2022 and 2024 and at The Conway Muse from 2014 to 2019, frequently playing to full houses and strong praise. With a live seven-piece country band, the show blends heartfelt storytelling with down-home humor and even a touch of audience participation. The music spans 27 classics, including Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams, and Walking After Midnight. It goes beyond a simple tribute, tracing the friendship from a chance meeting in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961 through letters exchanged until Cline’s death at age 30 in a 1963 plane crash. Drawn from correspondence often signed, love always, Patsy Cline, the performance invites longtime fans to reminisce while introducing new audiences to the power of her voice and the impact she had on those who first loved her.

Free Scottish Country Dance Class

Explore the lively patterns and social spirit of Scottish Country Dancing in a free class at Littlefield Celtic Center. Absolute beginners are welcome. This tradition has roots in story and ritual dances and absorbed influences from the French court when Mary of Guise married James V of Scotland in 1524, shaping elements like footwork, bows and curtseys that are still seen today. It remained popular through the era of Culloden and into the 1800s before dances such as the waltz and the quadrille took center stage. A 20th century revival led to the founding of the Scottish Country Dance Society in 1923, later granted a royal charter in 1951 as the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, with Queen Elizabeth II as patron. The repertoire keeps growing, with new dances and tunes created every year, and people of all ages take part. Classes here are multi-level and include step practice and teaching of dances. After gauging the group, the session typically starts with about 45 minutes focused on newcomers, continues with roughly 30 minutes of social dancing for everyone, and finishes with around 45 minutes aimed at more experienced dancers. Instruction follows a building-block approach that reviews and develops skills from one class to the next, highlighting fun, fitness and friendship. No partner or special attire is required. Comfortable clothing works well, and while some women choose skirts, it is not mandatory. Soft-soled footwear such as ballet or jazz shoes can make moving and pointing the toe easier, though not having them should not keep you from trying. Participants are encouraged to listen, be willing to learn and simply give it a try.
