Beading Beauties — Monthly Beadwork Circle

Organized by the Kittitas County Historical Museum in partnership with the Ellensburg School District Ichiskíin Sɨ́nwit ku Tiináwit Payúutmita (ESD Ichiskíin Language and Native American Culture Program), this monthly beadwork circle honors the artistry, history, and creativity found in beadwork while offering a friendly space for making and connection. Beadwork holds longstanding significance across the Columbia Plateau, with Indigenous communities including the Yakama, Umatilla, Klickitat, Nez Perce, K’tɨ́taas, and Pshwánapam conveying identity and stories through detailed designs, a living tradition carried forward by beaders and makers today. Participants of any experience level can bring projects, share techniques, and spend time creating in community. Please bring your own supplies, and refreshments are provided.

In partnership with The Alzheimer’s Association and ALTC, this five-part caregiving series is presented at UKCSC. You can take part in any single module or follow the full sequence, depending on your needs. All are welcome.

Handbag Branding Workshop at Whipsaw Brewing - Ellensburg, WA

At Whipsaw Brewing, Lindsey from Blonde Dog 509 leads a hands-on handbag branding workshop where participants burn original designs into a new bag. Choose from Blonde Dog 509 designs or create a freehand design, then learn tracing techniques and how to use the burner before finishing with a custom fringe tassel. The workshop welcomes all skill levels and provides step-by-step guidance in a friendly setting. Each ticket includes a slouch or hobo style handbag measuring 13.8 x 9.4 x 4.3 inches, a makeup bag with a custom patch and fringe tassel zipper pull, access to multiple designs, and all tools and materials needed. The roomy tote fits everyday essentials like a phone, keys, makeup, wine, and more, making it a practical canvas for personalization. Open to ages 14 and up. Attendance is limited and a separate ticket is required for each person. Tickets are nonrefundable and nonexchangeable, and burn-shop ticket purchases of $50 plus sales tax are nonrefundable.

Naneum Work Party: TH 1

A weekly Tuesday trail work party at Naneum Ridge focuses on maintaining the Basalt Flow and Cooke Coleman Crest Trail. Participants rake, prune, and saw to keep the corridor clear, and should bring a saw and loppers. The meeting point is TH1 at the start of the season, with plans to shift to TH2 in the Basalt Cliff area later on.

Bike Night Meet & Greet

Riders gather at Nodding Donkey Bar for a weekly meet and greet with food, drinks, and plenty of conversation. Bring your dirt, enduro, sport, or cruiser to show it off, meet new riding partners, trade favorite routes, and connect with the local motorcycle community. Every make and model is welcome. Please be respectful of the venue and keep the parking lot free of antics.

Toddler Story Time

Created for children ages 1 to 3, this session offers stories, songs, and activities designed especially for toddlers.

Ellensburg’s boys varsity soccer team hosts East Valley of Yakima for a conference matchup on the home field. This meeting features two Washington programs in varsity play with Ellensburg at home and East Valley on the road.

Dru Bru + Orchard Brewmaster Dinner

Jazz Cafe Annual Dinner & Auction 2026

Enjoy an evening of live jazz, dinner, and community support at the Senior Center. This benefit raises essential funds for the middle school and high school music program, helping provide clinicians, competition opportunities, scholarships, and a new trailer wrap. Savor a taco dinner, browse a silent auction, take part in raffles, and satisfy your sweet tooth during a dessert auction. Music will be performed by the high school jazz bands together with the Ellensburg Big Band. Kittitas County Chapter Big Game Banquet

At Kittitas Valley Event Center Teanaway Hall, this banquet brings together elk country supporters for dinner, conversation, and one of a kind prizes and auctions. Participants can directly support conservation work that benefits elk habitat and helps preserve hunting heritage. Seating is limited and has sold out in past years.

Historic Preservation Awards

Hosted by the City of Ellensburg Landmarks & Design Commission in collaboration with the Kittitas County Historical Museum, this open house and awards celebration highlights local preservation and restoration and the people who care for Ellensburg’s historic places. The program features the Ellensburg Historic Preservation Awards, recognizing efforts across the community, from long standing downtown buildings to historic homes and community nominated projects. A short presentation from the Landmarks & Design Commission is planned, with details to be announced. This free public gathering welcomes downtown business and building owners, property managers, homeowners, and anyone who appreciates Ellensburg’s historic character and wants to learn more. Refreshments will be available, with time to visit and explore the museum.

UKC Annual Kid's Bicycle Safety Rodeo

This free, family friendly bicycle safety rodeo helps kids gain confidence and learn essential skills through hands on activities and playful practice. Children can receive a helmet at no cost while supplies last, pick up basic bike maintenance pointers, and explore why head protection matters with a kid friendly look at traumatic brain injuries. Creativity is part of the day as participants craft a personalized bicycle license plate. Two interactive riding courses offer a safe place to work on balance, signaling, and smart riding techniques in a fun environment. Whether brand new to riding or already comfortable on two wheels, young cyclists can build safer habits, sharpen skills, and enjoy time outdoors with the community. Bring a bike and a helmet, or plan to get one at the event while available.

2nd Annual Recycling Event

This community recycling day offers a convenient drop-off for a variety of materials and a chance to learn about curbside service and local recycling drop-off options. Accepted items include bicycles and bike tubes, which will be refurbished and returned to the community, single-stream recyclables such as plastic bottles and jugs, cardboard, paper, and clean food or beverage cans, as well as paper documents for secure shredding by Shred-It. Small batteries and professional clothing are also accepted. Glass is not accepted at this event. Information booths will share where to take items like furniture, electronics, and yard waste, along with guidance on composting, the Repair Café, local glass recycling resources, toner, pesticide, and medication disposal, and E-Cycle WA options. An educational can crushing and lid removal station will be available. Sponsored by the City of Ellensburg and Waste Management.

Tulip's Book Barn Sale

Wildflower and Wind Power Walks: May 10

Explore the beauty of the shrub steppe in bloom at Wild Horse Renewable Energy Center. Morning and afternoon sessions feature a Wind Turbine Tour, a Wildflower and Wind Power presentation, and a guided Wildflower and Wind Power walk. RSVP is required with party size and your preference for morning or afternoon, as well as which parts you plan to attend, including the tour, presentation, and walk. Wildflower walks are also available midweek by appointment from late April through May. Wear sturdy closed toe shoes or boots and dress for both wind and sun, since spring conditions can be chilly. Bring water, snacks, a camera, hiking poles, or anything else you need to enjoy the walk. The walking portion covers less than a mile on rocky, uneven terrain and may not be suitable for all visitors.

This talk features Carlos Zizo sharing Redeemed, a candid testimony of his journey from pain and addiction to healing and a second chance at life. Once caught in addiction and dealing drugs in East Los Angeles, he describes being called out of darkness and into purpose. Friday Performance- Advantage Dirt Bares and Broncs

Ellensburg Rodeo Arena hosts a PRCA Xtreme Broncs showcase that features bareback and saddle bronc riding alongside barrel racing and mounted shooters. Arena entertainment is led by professional rodeo clown Kyle Bode, with announcing by Marty Campbell and Jim Bob Custer. Summit Pro Rodeo provides the stock in partnership with other top PRCA stock companies. After the competition wraps up, Hunter Stiles brings live music to close out the night.

Monthly Open Mic Night

The monthly open mic at Roslyn Public Library welcomes poets and writers to share their original work at the microphone. Participants are encouraged to bring poems or other pieces to read aloud, and attendees are welcome to listen and support one another in a friendly setting.

Set in Ellensburg, Washington, this event uses the Best Western Plus as its host hotel. Additional lodging is available in the area, with options in Cle Elum about 22 miles away. A banquet is planned at Red Horse Diner. The Mid-State CO-OP Fuel station will serve as both the start and finish and offers Pure Gas that is non ethanol. The Dusty 45's

The Dusty 45s deliver a live performance at Kittitas Cafe. Led by founding member and singer-songwriter Billy Joe Huels, the band has grown from playing the back rooms of Seattle dive bars to appearing on prominent stages during national tours.

Misfit Gala

The Misfit Gala at Sue Lombard Hall is the largest annual fundraiser for Josie's Misfit Ranch, bringing the community together to move closer to a future where every animal is cared for and loved. Support from this event helps animals facing physical trauma or behavioral challenges, especially those who have been overlooked or left behind, and reminds them that kindness and value are real. Tickets are $75 and include a catered dinner and two drinks from the full bar. The Dayhands - Xtreme Bares & Broncs

After the Xtreme Broncs performance, the beer garden at Kittitas Valley Event Center hosts a live western set featuring CJ Traylor and Blaine Andrew Ross. Blaine, a singer songwriter from the Pacific Northwest based in Moscow, ID, offers a classic country western sound with a relaxed storytelling style shaped by the region’s landscapes, people, rodeo, and cattle life, earning him a loyal following. CJ, a cowboy singer and poet who also works as a brand inspector and trains horses in the Central Cascades, draws on real ranch experience for his songs and stories, from riding fence and working horses to verses informed by open country and hard earned wisdom. Together they present an easygoing evening of music that reflects the traditions and spirit of the American West.

A community clean up at Roslyn's Historic Cemeteries focuses on caring for a beautiful, historic resting place and the stories it holds. Sno Pass Community Cleanup #1

Volunteer to help keep the Snoqualmie Pass community and highways clean and free of trash. The group will meet at a local taproom before heading out to clean up litter along the state route. Kids Pop Choir 2026!

A kid-focused pop choir prepares two songs for a community concert at the United Methodist Church, culminating in an appearance at the Valley Voices concert. Participants learn a choreographed, memorized rendition of Try Everything by Shakira in the Kidz Bop Kids cover from Zootopia, performed with a karaoke track, then team up with a 50 voice adult choir for parts of We Are the World. Preparation starts at home with learning videos, followed by group rehearsals at Ellensburg Presbyterian Church and at the United Methodist Church. The participation fee is $25 per child or $30 per family, with scholarships available.

2026 Kittitas County Pride Parade

The 2026 Kittitas County Pride Parade steps off at the Ellensburg Rodeo Grounds and moves along the parade route through Downtown Ellensburg. More details will be shared as they become available.

Wildflower and Wind Power Walk: Bitterroot and Buckwheat

Explore late season blooms such as bitterroot and buckwheat on an additional wildflower walk at the Wild Horse Renewable Energy Center. The experience pairs time among the flowers with wind power exploration, featuring two chances for a wind turbine tour, a presentation, and a wildflower walk at The Pines. RSVP is required. When reserving, include your party size and which tour or sessions you would like to attend. The event will only proceed if at least eight people sign up. Come prepared with sturdy closed toe footwear and layers for wind and sun, since spring conditions can still feel cool. Bring water, snacks, a camera, hiking poles, or anything else you need to stay comfortable. The walking distance is under a mile, but the route includes rocky, uneven ground and may not suit all visitors. Plan to drive on a gravel road to reach the hike location.

Roslyn Vintage Trailer Rally 2026

A vintage trailer rally at Roslyn Pioneer Park brings campers together for a relaxed gathering in the Cascade Mountains. Dave and Heather May are the new hosts. The setting is Roslyn, a historic coal-mining town that became an incorporated community in 1886 in central Washington’s sunshine. Coal from the area once powered Northern Pacific Railroad trains during construction and the early years of the route through the Cascades. Situated roughly 80 miles east of Seattle and not far from Interstate 90, the town offers a scenic backdrop for enthusiasts to park their vintage trailers and connect with fellow fans.

Fog Holler

Fog Holler draws on influences from The Stanley Brothers and Buck Owens to Meshuggah, bringing fresh energy to traditions like the murder ballad and the power waltz. Two-time Grammy winner Cathy Fink has praised the group as a new generation pushing bluegrass forward. 2026 Top Hand Competition

At the IUOE Local 302/612 Operating Engineers Training Center, the Top Hand Competition features professional union operators going head to head on a variety of heavy equipment and cranes. Spectators of all ages can watch the action and also get hands-on time with excavators, cranes, and simulators. A big kids area includes inflatables, sandboxes, toys, games, crafts, a hay hunt, pinatas, and more. Vendors will be serving lunch and snacks throughout the day. Competition runs all day, with Top Hand winners announced at the end and an introduction of the new 2026 entry level apprentices.
