ECA Special Engagement: Melissa Arnot Reid

This special engagement features Melissa Arnot Reid, a pioneering mountaineer, educator, and advocate with more than two decades as a mountain guide. Known for her dedication to excellence and to sharing what she has learned, she brings hard-earned perspective from years spent on the world’s highest peaks and in service to mountain communities. In 2016 she became the first American woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest and return without supplemental oxygen, a milestone that also marked her sixth successful ascent of the mountain. The accomplishment drew international attention and led to frequent speaking and media appearances, yet she continues to guide and to support others through The Juniper Fund, the nonprofit she co-founded that provides financial assistance to the families of Nepali workers who have lost their lives in the mountains. Her story is explored in her forthcoming memoir, Enough: Climbing Toward a True Self on Mount Everest, where she reflects on triumphs and setbacks, working within a male-dominated field, coping with loss, and reconsidering what success and fulfillment mean. She lives in Washington State’s Methow Valley with her husband, Tyler, where they each run guide services and keep their passion for adventure alive.

The Joy of Chanting and Healing

This in-person gathering offers an intimate space to explore devotional chanting alongside practices that invite spiritual healing. Participants are gently guided to both receive and share universal healing energy, with sacred chants supporting the process. The session focuses on opening to personal restoration and extending a healing presence to others, including from a distance, through universal and time-honored practices. Guidance is provided by Patricia Flores and Vahini Om. Patricia’s path as a Mayan healer began in childhood and evolved into the work she calls Mayan Healing Hands, a lineage-informed practice received through Spirit. She has served communities in the United States for 33 years, spending many years in Sedona before relocating to Washington. She serves as a clear channel for healing energy and also works as a medium, offering intuitive and multidimensional sessions that may include visions of color, sacred geometry, and spiritual beings while supporting transformation on physical, emotional, and karmic levels. As a clairvoyant and oracle, she may access the Akashic records, relay messages from guides, and assist with releasing patterns connected to other lifetimes. Her approach is rooted in trust, surrender, and the understanding that true healing flows through Divine guidance. Vahini Om is an experienced teacher of yoga and meditation in the Kriya Yoga tradition of Paramhansa Yogananda. With over two decades devoted to these practices, she brings a deep love of music and sacred chant, describing chanting, meditation, and yoga as her medicine. Attendance is limited to 12 participants. Expect practices designed to harmonize energy through chant and to cultivate the ability to both receive and offer universal healing energy, even across distance.

An Evening of Connection with Amanda Gail - In-Person - May 15th, 2026 - Saturday 6:15-8:15 PM PT

This in-person gathering centers on connection through mediumship and a guided soul journey with Amanda Gail. A multidimensional healer, soul guide, and medium, Amanda shifted from a 28-year career in hairdressing after profound life changes and an encounter with an energy healer opened the way for clear communication with the Spirit world. She now focuses her work on supporting healing, freedom, and wholeness. The evening begins with messages for the audience from loved ones in Spirit, along with guidance Amanda receives from her Guides and Angels. Not everyone will receive a personal message, yet the experience is designed so that all can take away encouragement and inspiration. The program then moves into a guided meditation that helps participants reconnect with their own energy. From that grounded state, Amanda facilitates an opportunity to welcome a Guide, Angel, or loved one into one’s energy space to sense their presence and receive insight and healing directly. She works closely with the Angels to create a supportive, high-vibrational atmosphere that amplifies connection. Participants are encouraged to bring a small keepsake or stone to be charged during the event and used afterward as a talisman, as well as a journal for reflections.

Agatha Christie's The Mysterious Affair at Styles

Edmonds Driftwood Players brings a new stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s first Hercule Poirot mystery to the Wade James Theatre, crafted by local playwright Kate Danley and directed by Bryar Freed-Golden. Set in 1916, Lieutenant Hastings is recovering from war wounds at the home of his friend John Cavendish when a midnight poisoning turns everyone in the manor into a suspect. The renowned Belgian detective Hercule Poirot steps in, and a tangle of red herrings, shifting motives, and unexpected turns propels a classic whodunnit that honors the spirit of the novel while inviting the audience to sift through the clues. The cast features Chris Ensweiler as Hercule Poirot, Duncan Thorvilson as Lieutenant Hastings, Seamus Smith as John Cavendish, Else Buckley as Lawrence Cavendish, Amit Rosenberg as Alfred Inglethorp, Jayton Newbury as Dr. Bauerstein, Braden King as Detective James Japp, Nicola Amos as Miss Evie Howard, Carol Wieltschnig as Mrs. Emily Inglethorp, Maleah Muriekes as Mary Cavendish, Nina McKinstry as Dorcas, and Lia Verdeja as Cynthia Murdoch, with Nick Yi and Amy Beck as understudies. The performance is expected to run about two hours with a 15 minute intermission. The production is designated for all ages, and it is best suited for teens and older audiences. Free parking is available at the Wade James Theatre, and light concessions by donation and a bar will be open for purchases. Produced under arrangement with IPEX Artists Agency. ECA Special Engagement: Alan Doyle

Alan Doyle takes the stage with special guests The East Pointers for a night that reflects both his high-spirited roots and a newly intimate approach. Centered around Welcome Home, his fourth solo studio album and twentieth release overall, the performance draws on songs shaped with co-writers Jimmy Rankin, Donovan Woods, and Oscar Isaac. Recorded in Montreal with producer and engineer Marcus Paquin, the new material pairs bright, feel-good energy with quieter moments that lean into a deeper vocal tone and an easier pace. A 14-time JUNO Award nominee known for his years with Great Big Sea, Doyle also brings a wide creative background as an author and screen performer, and he recently co-produced Sonny Don’t Go Away, a 20-song tribute to Ron Hynes. It considers how natural settings can hold shared experiences and quiet remembrances of life’s significant moments. Common projects include small tabletop appliances such as toasters, blenders, and coffee makers, frequently repaired favorites like vacuums and lamps, toys, bicycles, computer software issues including storage, slow performance, and email, clothing mending and simple hemming, basic jewelry fixes such as clasps or links, and home decor, along with other straightforward repairs. Repair specialists will be on site to collaborate with you. The cost of any needed parts is not covered. Results are not guaranteed and a liability release must be signed before work begins. Items may be declined in advance or at the event based on the item, the type of repair, or fixer availability, and cell phones and Apple products are not accepted. Service is first come, first served, with a two-item limit per person.

Friday Night Art & Wine - Paint an Orca in Acrylic w/ Joyful - June 26 / 5-8 pm - All Levels

Set aside an evening for a hands-on acrylic workshop focused on painting a bold orca. Over three hours, work on an 11 by 14 inch canvas with a limited palette of blacks, whites, and cool blues to create glowing contrast, rich depth, and the glossy, powerful look of an orca rising from dark water. You will practice high-contrast black-and-white techniques, mix rich blacks and distinguish warm from cool whites, build a moody, atmospheric ocean background, paint crisp markings such as the saddle patch and eye spot, and use wet-on-wet blending to add shine and dimension while shaping a dramatic composition that emerges from darkness. All levels are welcome, including beginners. All supplies are provided, and everyone leaves with a painting. The fee is $135.00. Wine, seltzer water, and packaged snacks are provided, and participants may bring their own contributions if they wish.
