Enjoy a beginner-friendly yoga session at sunset by the Elizabeth River in downtown Norfolk. This pay-what-you-can class supports local charities, with 25% of contributions typically directed to Tidewater Friends of Foster Care’s gift-giving program. Bring water and a mat or towel, and consider layers, sunscreen, sunglasses, and any props that support your practice. Featuring Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, and Robert Shaw. Rated PG, 130 minutes. A custom poster by artist Greg Steele will be available for purchase.

Traditional Irish Session

Local musicians gather at Grace O'Malley's Irish Pub & Restaurant for an easygoing traditional Irish music session. Tunes are played in sets, typically three or more pieces chosen to flow naturally in key and melody. Most sets keep to one tune type, such as all jigs or all reels, though an experienced group might slip a related form like a slip jig into a jig set. Some combinations are long established, including the Coleman set of reels (The Tarbolton, The Longford Collector, The Sailor's Bonnet), while others come together on the spot with results that can vary. Once one set ends, someone usually starts the next. Regulars may lead tunes they expect others to know, and visiting players often check that their choices are familiar to a few in the circle. Singing may occur occasionally, but the emphasis is on shared ensemble playing rather than solos or party pieces. Rooted in music made for dancers at house gatherings, the session prizes collective energy over individual showmanship and welcomes common repertoire that many musicians can enjoy together.

Drawing on beloved storybook plots and the older folklore behind them, the evening blends scripted sketches, improvised scenes, and quick-hit comedy games. Expect playful nods to the worlds of the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and other folklore sources, as familiar tales are twisted, the darker corners of classic lore resurface, and at least one new story is created live onstage. Ready Bag Rally

At Norfolk Scope Arena, the Hampton Roads community gathers for a large-scale packing effort that supports families facing pediatric cancer. Each year in the United States, roughly 16,000 children receive a diagnosis, and this rally focuses on assembling the same number of Ready Bags so families feel supported from the start. Hosted by Roc Solid Foundation, the experience blends upbeat, hands-on volunteering with live entertainment, interactive moments, and surprise highlights. Attendees can expect meaningful connections to the mission and a clear way to make a direct impact for kids fighting cancer nationwide.
