A fundraiser will take place at Texas Roadhouse in Christiansburg. Monday Night Madness

A 9-hole shotgun golf tournament welcomes the first 36 players to register. The entry fee is $20 per person and includes a cart. Itraab Music Ensemble

This spring season finale from the Itraab Music Ensemble brings together Virginia Tech students, graduate students, faculty, staff, and community members. Under the direction of ethnomusicologist Anne Elise Thomas, the performance features traditional and contemporary music from Southwest Asia and from North and East Africa, as well as music from their diasporas. The ensemble’s name evokes musical enchantment, and the program showcases instruments including the 'ud, qanun, santoor, and tar, among others. Admission is free for everyone.

Law Day

Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society hosts a Law Day event offering the public free guidance from licensed attorneys. Attendees can discuss topics such as family law, real estate, estate planning, and other civil legal concerns, and will also find additional resources. SVLAS is a nonprofit legal firm dedicated to assisting individuals and families with limited incomes, and its Law Day programs aim to expand access to legal help across Southwest Virginia.

Pulling Threads Screening

Storytelling - with host Wendy Welch

Author Wendy Welch hosts an evening of live storytelling that welcomes both tellers and listeners. Each month features a theme, and this time the prompt is Mayday. Bring your own snacks and settle in for a friendly, community centered gathering. Prospective tellers can share folktales, original work, personal experiences, or family history. Stories are spoken rather than read, and poems or songs count as storytelling. Please keep content respectful of all people and communities. Each set has a firm length limit, with a visual cue as you near the end, so plan your piece accordingly. Be sure to sign up in advance to reserve a spot. Listeners are asked to help keep the space comfortable for everyone. Choose snacks that are not noisy or messy, silence mobile phones, and remain seated during stories except in an emergency. BHS Performing Arts presents the Gershwin-filled musical comedy Crazy for You, featuring well known songs like I Got Rhythm, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and They Can't Take That Away From Me. Bobby Child, a banker from New York, is sent to Deadrock, Nevada, to shut down a worn-down theater. He falls for Polly Baker, the spirited daughter who runs the venue, but she wants nothing to do with a big-city outsider. Drone Safety Day 2026

Explore safe and responsible drone flying at Virginia Tech Drone Park. Weather permitting, the public is welcome to experience guided flights inside the netted facility while learning about FAA training and registration requirements. Where to Fly sessions highlight local places to operate and provide in-person answers to airspace questions. To keep operations safe, personal drones should be left at home and only authorized flights will take place.

Kentucky Derby Party

A Kentucky Derby themed fundraiser presented in partnership with Historic Smithfield will feature a casino party, drinks and music, a hat contest, and additional activities. Proceeds support the Blacksburg Museum and Cultural Foundation’s effort to fund the exhibit redesign of St. Luke and Odd Fellows Hall, and contribute to Historic Smithfield’s upcoming 250th Independence Day Commemoration. Rotary Run for the Roses

Enjoy the Kentucky Derby, known as the fastest two minutes in sports, shown on a big screen at the Blacksburg County Club Banquet Hall during a Rotary Club of Blacksburg fundraiser featuring big hats, mint juleps, games, and prizes. Standard tickets are $60 and include hors d'oeuvres, one drink ticket, and opportunities to enter and win prizes throughout the evening. VIP tickets are $100 and include one Horse Bet entry valued at $50, hors d'oeuvres, one drink ticket, and the same prize-entry opportunities. Yard Sale at Central Church Radford

Central Church Radford is hosting a yard sale spread across the main parking lot and the Family Life Center. This track and field event offers opportunities for athletes to compete. 4th Annual Shred Event

Now in its fourth year, this no-cost document shredding event is hosted by Giesen-Caldwell Agency, Inc. Realtors. Stash Blast 2026

Refresh a fabric stash at the Virginia Quilt Museum’s Christiansburg Stash Blast, where quilting cotton is sold by the pound. Fabric is priced at $10 per pound, which is about 2 to 3 yards for $10. Organized and sponsored by The Quilting Party, this sale directs all profits to the Virginia Quilt Museum. Activities are planned outdoors at Solitude-Fraction House, with War Memorial Gym reserved as the rain location.

Create Your Own Berry Basket

Learn traditional basket weaving with artisan Susan Frank during an interactive workshop at Historic Smithfield. Designed for beginners, this class guides participants through creating a functional berry basket suited for garden harvests, market trips, or gifting. Expect clear, step by step instruction, all materials provided, and a small group setting that allows for individual attention. Everyone will leave with a finished basket. For ages 15 and up. Tea & Tea Gardening Workshop ($25)

At Moon Hollow Brewing, this hands-on workshop explores growing your own herbal tea garden and turning those plants into custom blends. Participants will enjoy a guided tasting, then learn how to plan and care for a tea plot, when to gather ingredients, how to dry and store them, and ways to combine herbs into original recipes. Everyone will head home with a six-pack of organically grown tea garden seedlings and a jar of a personally crafted herbal blend. An evening with authors from Shenandoah Fantastic and Virginia Fantastic spotlights two collections that reimagine Virginia through speculative storytelling. Shenandoah Fantastic blends mystery, supernatural twists, and humor set across the valley. Stories span a spectral train bound for Mount Jackson, trolls lurking beneath Luray Caverns, a bird uprising in Singers Glen, and encounters with time travelers at the Shakespeare Center. It speaks to longtime residents as well as curious visitors, showing where everyday life brushes the uncanny. Virginia Fantastic gathers imaginative tales that recast the Commonwealth as a place of wonder and surprise. Stretching from mountain peaks to coastal shores, these stories weave landscape, history, and culture together with the supernatural.

Spring Community Dog Wash

Organized by the Student American Veterinary Medical Association at Virginia Tech and the DVM Class of 2029, this community dog wash offers simple grooming services at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. A bath is $15, nail trimming is $10, and ear cleaning is $5. Dogs must remain on a leash, be at least five months old, and be up to date on vaccinations. Please bring proof of rabies vaccination. Proceeds benefit the college's chapter of the Student American Veterinary Medical Association and the DVM Class of 2029.

Hosted by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, the annual MCCC Foundation Bocce Ball Tournament arrives at Huckleberry Park in Christiansburg for a lively day of networking, music, food, and drinks as teams compete for the 2026 Bocce Ball Champion title. The Rockin’ Main Street Concert Series is expanding across town with two new stops, and this first Rockin’ Christiansburg concert brings live music, food, games, and community fun to Uptown Christiansburg. Solacoustix opens with a mix of blues, R and B, country, and rock, followed by Miller Holler with a blend of country, rock, and good-time music. Beer, wine, and food trucks will be available, and a valid ID is required for alcohol purchases. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the performances. May Fish Fry with DJ Earl Brown

2026 Recital: What Dreams are Made Of

NRV Academy of Dance presents its ninth annual recital, the result of steady work since late August. Dancers and instructors bring their energy and dedication to the stage at Radford University’s Bondurant Auditorium, turning months of rehearsal into a polished showcase. The program offers an evening highlighting talent, joy, and a touch of theatrical magic. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 3 to 12, and free for children 2 and under. Tickets are available at the studio in the weeks leading up to the performance and at the door the night of the show.

35th Annual Wilderness Road Ride

Pedal a piece of history on a gran fondo style ride that follows sections of the Wilderness Road linked to Daniel Boone. The routes are entirely on paved roads and welcome every level of cyclist, with five choices ranging from a friendly 26 mile option suitable for beginners and e-bikes to a full century for experienced riders. All courses start and finish in Radford’s Bisset Park by the New River, and non-riders can relax in the park, take in the river views, or explore downtown Radford while riders are out on the road. Along the way, fully supported aid stations are placed at regular intervals and at the start and finish, stocked with Heed Hammer Nutrition fuel, water, and plenty of snacks. SAG vehicles will be on course for emergencies. Pre-registered participants are guaranteed a technical T-shirt and other goodies. Detailed maps and cue sheets will be available at the start, and routes can also be uploaded to a device.

An evening with Nic Brown: The Violent Femmes' Violent Femmes

Nic Brown leads a conversation about his book on the Violent Femmes’ self-titled debut, drawing on rare access to the band and its archives to explore how songs like Blister in the Sun, Kiss Off, Add It Up, and Prove My Love came together, as well as the album’s recording process. First released in 1983 by the Milwaukee acoustic post-punk trio, the record initially drew little attention and even found scant support within the local punk scene. Over time it grew into a cultural force, climbing college radio and spreading through word of mouth while remaining largely outside the mainstream. Unique when it arrived and still unlike anything else, it stands both outside of time and as a defining artifact of the alternative 1980s. After the talk, Nic will answer questions. This event is free and open to everyone.

Farm-to-Table Kids’ Cooking Camps (June 8-12)

Young cooks can dive into a week of farm-to-table learning at Glade Road Growing. Guided by Scarlett Williams, campers ages 8 to 12 head into the fields to discover how food is grown on a working farm, gather seasonal ingredients, then wash up and turn their harvest into fresh meals. Along the way they practice teamwork, build confidence in the kitchen, broaden their palates, and spend meaningful time outdoors. Feedback from earlier camps notes a welcoming blend of hands-on work and play, chances to try unfamiliar foods, and memorable time with the farm animals. Families should send two snacks, a water bottle, and clothing suited to the weather. Long pants and closed-toed shoes are recommended for muddy barnyard areas. A liability waiver and media release are completed at check-in, and additional details are provided by email before camp. Registration is required, fills quickly, and is non-refundable. The program is led by New River Valley native Scarlett Williams, an educator and counselor with more than twenty years of experience working with children. She holds National Board Certification as a School Counselor and has long connected families with local farms, including coordinating a school partnership with an organic farm. Virginia agritourism law limits liability for injuries or death that stem from the inherent risks of farm activities, including those related to land, equipment, animals, and a participant’s own actions. Participation involves accepting these risks.

Designed for ages 7 to 10 at Levels 3 and 4, this themed week focuses on building skills and confidence through a full slate of dance and performing arts training. Each day includes technique classes with plenty of breaks, guided by DT faculty alongside featured guest artists. Participants explore a wide range of topics, from pointe and Pilates to stage hair and makeup, plus elements of costume and set design. The week concludes with an audition used for Summer and Fall 2026 class placement, and those who wish can also audition for the Performing Arts Company. Full-day and half-day enrollment options are available. Tuition is $450 per week for full day and $230 per week for half day. Pay-by-day options are $90 for full day and $50 for half day, and a pay-by-class option is $20 per class. Enroll in both weeks to receive a 10 percent discount on the second week’s tuition. A 50 percent deposit is billed at the time of enrollment. Early bird pricing is offered, and registrations after the early bird period are subject to a $20 late enrollment fee, limit one per family.

Diego Sanchez Workshop: A Mixed-Media Approach to Drawing and Painting

At Selu Conservancy, this BRAA sponsored workshop with Diego Sanchez focuses on a mixed media approach to drawing and painting. Participants explore a variety of materials and techniques to reinterpret subjects and expand their creative process. The format supports experimentation and independent projects, with individualized guidance and critiques from the instructor. Basic drawing and painting experience is helpful. Acrylics or oils are appropriate, and a suggested supply list will be provided to those who register.

Rockin' Main Street Concert

Experience the first Rockin' Main Street Concert of the year with an evening of live music, food, games, and community activities. The show opens with Bunco bringing a burst of high-energy blues, followed by Southwest Virginia natives Crawford and Power showcasing their signature country sound. Beer, wine, and a variety of food trucks will be available. Bring a valid ID if you plan to purchase beer or wine. Wednesday Summer Dance! Ages 13-18

This weekly Wednesday dance program is tailored for ages 13 to 18, covering 7th through 12th grades and Levels 7 through 9. Dancers move through a sequence of styles that includes tap, jazz, ballet, and pointe with variations, building technique and versatility across the evening. A single weekly 45 minute class is $78 per session, and taking two or more classes automatically applies a $15 per session discount. Flexible options include a ten class pass for $150 or a single drop in for $20. Registration is simple. Every Step Funds The Cure- Banquet & Fundraiser

At Central Church- Radford, this banquet and fundraiser brings the community together under the Montgomery County Relay banner to honor survivors and support the search for a cure. Survivors are welcomed with a complimentary meal. All other participants are asked to contribute an $18 donation, which helps cover meal costs and supports ACS. This is the first event of the year for Montgomery County Relay, created to celebrate resilience and direct generosity toward meaningful impact. Explore Science Camp Session 1

This overnight residential camp at the Blacksburg Campus is designed for rising seventh and eighth graders who want to explore a wide range of sciences, including subjects not typically covered in middle or high school. Led by nationally recognized Virginia Tech faculty and staff, the program features practical, hands-on activities that introduce topics such as neuroscience, DNA structure and function, the battle between bacteria, paleontology, nanoscience and buckyballs, food microbiology, crime scene investigation, creative coding, game theory and experimental economics, craters, and behavioral genetics.

Area 581 Band

Area 581 performs at Old Town Fields for an Independence Day celebration filled with live music and festive fun, capped by fireworks. Admission is $5, and children 6 and under are free. 2026 Waldron Fitness Independence 5k and Fun Run

Sponsored by Waldron Fitness Center, this 5k and fun run features a competitive, mostly level road course. Walkers and strollers are welcome, and race awards will be presented. The course starts and finishes at Old Town Fields, following Old Town Road west, looping onto US 460, then returning on Old Town Road. Explore Life Science Camp

Designed for rising 11th and 12th graders, this residential camp includes overnight stays and a full slate of hands-on exploration across the life sciences. Participants investigate living systems from broad biomes down to the molecular scale through experiments covering neuroscience, psychology, bacterial evolution, viruses, and biotechnology. The schedule also includes time with ancient life in the Geoscience Museum, fermentation activities in a food science kitchen, and ecological study at the Duck Pond.

House of Mouse Dance Camp Ages 3-5

This playful dance camp brings a touch of magic to little movers in pre-K and kindergarten. Children ages 3 to 5 explore beginner dance steps, get creative with Disney-themed crafts, and refuel with healthy snacks. The week wraps up with a sweet showcase that lets families cheer on everything the dancers have learned. For this age group, the camp meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuition is $110 for the three-day option or $40 for a single day.
