Game On! Sports 4 Girls offers a Monday spring multi-sport class at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse for girls in kindergarten through fourth grade. Over six weeks, participants try a new sport each session, with possible activities including soccer, basketball, volleyball, flag football, softball, lacrosse, tennis or pickleball, along with team building. The program fosters growth as both athlete and person, emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, respect, generosity, and goal setting in a positive, encouraging environment. Admission is 7 dollars for ages 3 to 64, 6 dollars for ages 65 and older or for those with a valid military ID, and free for ages 0 to 2. This guided nature walk, led by a naturalist, explores wetland science, local plant and animal life, and Swaner Preserve's history. Depending on the season, participants might spot abundant birdlife, elk, or even nesting sandhill cranes. Advance registration is required, there are no walk-ins, and group size is limited to 15 participants. Registration closes on the day of the walk. The route is generally flat with a gentle uphill section and is appropriate for all ages. Tall grass, uneven ground, and wet areas may be encountered and can be challenging for younger children and some seniors. Anyone who prefers a shorter outing may turn around at any time. For the protection of sensitive wetlands, dogs are not permitted. When snow is present, walks take place on snowshoes, which can be rented at the EcoCenter for $2.50 for members and $5 for non-members. Please come prepared for the weather. In spring, summer, and fall, bring sturdy shoes or boots, long pants, water, and sun protection such as sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. In winter, bring snow gear, including boots, snow pants, a warm coat, hat, gloves, sunglasses, and a water bottle.

Each sign-up covers one person, so pairs such as a parent and child should reserve separate spots. No art or teaching background is needed. Participants must be ages 12 and up, and should be friendly, patient, reliable, good communicators, and comfortable in a lively, child-focused setting.

DownstairsOpen Hairy Ranch Horse Schooling Show
Uintah County Western Park hosts a schooling show featuring ranch and English classes for a wide range of riders and horses. Registration takes place before the show begins, followed by a full schedule of classes. Age divisions include 11 and under, 12 to 15, adults 16 to 44, senior adults 45 and older, plus a junior horse category. The program includes ranch conformation, ranch rail pleasure with and without walk trot, ranch reining, ranch riding, and ranch trail, along with English pleasure and English equitation for riders 15 and under and 16 and over, with walk trot options available. Lead line equitation is offered for riders 6 and under, and there is also an egg and spoon class. The fee is $6.00 per class. Awards include an overall high point calculated without English points, as well as high point and reserve high point for each age group and for English. The fourth annual regional trails mixer at Legacy Lodge brings together the people and organizations behind that work for an evening of conversation and connection. The course is designed for guides, instructors, trip leaders, and seasoned adventurers, and no prior medical experience is required. Graduates earn a three-year WFR certification plus BLS level CPR, with credentials recognized by the ACA, CAPCE, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Heber City ParkBike 'n' Botany
Take a relaxed bike ride while learning how to recognize common noxious weeds in the Snyderville Basin. The route begins at the Swaner EcoCenter and follows paved and packed gravel paths toward Willow Creek Park, with stops along the way to identify and discuss noxious weed species. Participants who need a bike can note this during registration and will receive instructions to borrow one at no cost from Summit Bike Share for the ride. This adult-focused outing is part of Swaner’s Walks, Talks, and Workshops and is presented in partnership with Basin Recreation and USU Extension Summit County. It is free and open to the public. Helmets are required while riding. Registered attendees will receive an email with guidance on what to wear and bring.
Swaner Preserve and EcoCenterVolunteer Dig Day July 19th - Anchor Trees
Volunteers will gather for a hands-on dig day focused on shaping the new hiking trail that will connect 9k and Mid Mountain. Mountain bikers are encouraged to participate as work on a hike-only route helps ease congestion and enhances bike-only options throughout the trail system. The aim is to create a lasting trail that benefits the entire community. Meet in the private lot just west of the Bonanza Flat parking lot, where parking is free. The group will convene at the trailhead, head to the worksite, and return to the trailhead once the effort wraps up. This is an RSVP-only event, and a waiver is required each year for every participant and must be completed in advance.
