Strawberry Moon Drum Circle

A community drum circle takes place at Lover’s Leap in Cameron Park in Waco under the Strawberry Moon, the June full moon whose name from Native American traditions reflects the brief strawberry harvest and the abundance, warmth, and sweetness of early summer. The experience centers on shared rhythm, connection, and community beneath the night sky. This is an inclusive, participation-based circle, not a performance, and no experience is required. Expect steady grooves, freeform improvisation, dancing and movement, and a positive, family friendly, substance free atmosphere with a close connection to nature and music. Attendees often bring a hand drum or other percussion instrument, and spares are sometimes available. A chair or blanket, water to stay hydrated in the Texas heat, and comfortable, breathable clothing are helpful. Many arrive with friends and family, and an open heart makes it easy to contribute to the collective beat under the Strawberry Moon.

Texas Legends Volleyball Tryouts - JULY 18 | 11U - 16U

Texas Legends Volleyball is holding competitive tryouts for athletes in the 11U through 16U divisions. As Central Texas’s largest club, the program focuses on elevating players’ skills and helping them compete at a higher level. All athletes must complete registration on the club’s website before participating, and a parent’s email should be listed as the primary contact for placement notifications. Spectators are not permitted during tryouts, and a short parent meeting in the gym will follow each session to cover season goals and expectations. Those aiming for top team placement are encouraged to attend this tryout. Athletes should come ready to work, be receptive to coaching, and bring court shoes, knee pads, breathable athletic wear, a water bottle, and a healthy snack, along with energy, effort, and a positive attitude.

JULY MELTDOWN NATIONALS

Racing action takes over the front of the TSTC Waco campus, set in the west side parking lot by the Administration Building. The schedule begins with test and tune, followed by competition rounds that may start early if everyone finishes testing ahead of schedule. Four classes are featured: Box Stock, Extreme Pro Stock, Outlaw, and Run What Ya Brung. Box Stock allows no tire prep or conditioners and requires a burnout at the start line before each pass, while all other classes may use any tire prep and do not require a burnout. The track surface will not be prepped. All cars will undergo a tech inspection, so participants should review the rules. Entry is $20 per class with a one-time $10 track fee, with 100 percent payouts to class winners and trophies awarded in every class. Spectating is free, and testing and tuning are free as well, with fees only for those entering class races. Grudge racing is encouraged during test and tune and between classes, and callouts are part of the excitement. Expect hot conditions and plan to bring refreshments, shade, and fans.

Sean McConnell live in Waco!

Sean McConnell brings the Saints + Skin '26 Tour to Waco with a performance at The Backyard Bar Stage and Grill. The Nashville singer songwriter’s latest chapter, SKIN, explores where body and spirit meet, weaving themes of faith, love, and the natural world through imagery that blooms like tattoo art. He carries just one tattoo, his wife’s name, a quiet vow that echoes the album’s sense of commitment. The cover’s open palm invites listeners into that journey, suggesting the sacred can be found in flesh and bone. The evening offers reflective storytelling, rich symbolism, and music that follows a renewed creative path.

Texas Youth Hunter Safety Course

This youth hunter education course takes place in a modern classroom at Republic Gun Club and covers essential safety knowledge for new hunters. The fee is $20 per student, paid directly to the instructor by Cash, Venmo, or PayPal. Do not submit payment through TPWD’s online registration, as the instructor will handle the remittance to TPWD on each student’s behalf. The class is geared toward ages 9 to 17, and adults may attend as well. Learners younger than twelve are strongly encouraged to have a parent or guardian present for the classroom segment, since the material can be challenging for that age group. Parents or guardians who accompany a student do not need to register unless they also require certification. Anyone seeking certification, including minors, must register individually. A lunch break is included. Participants may bring snacks, drinks, and a packed lunch, or step out to nearby dining options. Part of the training occurs outdoors, so bring weather-appropriate clothing.
