Stained Glass Night Light Workshop

ARTrageous Youths Meet Up

This expo at the Sherman Municipal Ballroom highlights women-owned and minority-owned businesses in the local community. Tails on the Trails

Embark on an easy one mile loop alongside a park ranger and a rescue connected with Sherman Animal Shelter. The walk sets out from the OHV Parking Lot and keeps a relaxed pace suitable for most participants. Surfaces may be muddy depending on conditions, so wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes, and bring plenty of water. A liability waiver is required and will be provided on site. Programs may be canceled if weather intervenes. There is no extra fee beyond standard park admission. For this activity, personal pets should stay at home. Along the way, you might even meet a potential lifelong companion.

Celebrate derby season at Downtown Denison with a pre-race party and dinner featuring hors d’oeuvres and a house drink. The Run for the Roses will be televised, and attendees can bid for charity on the horse they want to win, with first place prizes on the line. Dress in your best derby outfit and craft a standout hat for a chance at top honors in the hat competition. After the broadcast, the evening continues with dinner, music, and dancing. Straight Trash Precon Tournament

At Mt. Moon Collectibles in Sherman, this event puts a chaotic spin on the precon format. Entry is $70 and includes a Mystery Precon plus your choice of Matte Dragon Shield sleeves, with art, dual color, and premium sleeves not included. All sealed precon decks are tossed into a bag, and each player draws one at random to use for the night, with no swaps or do-overs. The competition runs as a precon tournament with a pack awarded for each win, and extra prizes for the Top 4. Time is set aside before matches begin so everyone can sleeve up their mystery deck. Lion’s Eye Diamond cEDH Tournament

Mt. Moon Collectibles Sherman hosts a high powered cEDH tournament centered on the coveted Lion’s Eye Diamond. Competitors will face a serious, tuned field and tight play throughout. Prizes include a Lion’s Eye Diamond for first place, 12 Secrets of Strixhaven Play Boosters for second, and 8 Secrets of Strixhaven Play Boosters for both third and fourth. The entry fee is $30, the format is cEDH, and decks may include up to 10 proxy cards. Entry is limited.

Starfish Benefit- 15th Annual

The 15th Annual Starfish Benefit brings a Derby inspired celebration to Hilton Garden Inn Denison/Sherman/At Texoma Event Center, featuring Southern charm, food and desserts, spirits, music, and festive fundraising opportunities. This milestone year also honors the 60th anniversary of Child & Family Guidance Center, highlighting six decades of work to strengthen the mental health of children and families across Texoma. The benefit helps ensure that more than 3,000 children and families each year continue to receive the care and guidance they need. Derby themed attire is encouraged for an evening centered on celebration, community, and impact.

60th Anniversary Season: Spring Concert and Reception

At Kidd-Key Auditorium, a spring concert and reception bring the 60th anniversary season to a close. The program features suites from Ravel’s ballet Daphnis and Chloe and Ginastera’s Panambi, moving from a depiction of sunrise to a passage of moonlight. Panambi, the composer’s first ballet and first published work, retells a supernatural legend about a chief’s daughter, two men who love her, and a sorcerer who shapes events. Debussy’s Danse for Harp and Strings is presented in two short movements for solo harp with string orchestra accompaniment, featuring harpist Naoko Nakamura. A reception in the Municipal Ballroom follows the performance. Support is provided by Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas as concert sponsor, The Olmstead Team at Paragon Realtors as reception sponsor, and Bill and Janet Douglass as season sponsor.

VFW Post 2772 2026 Day of Service

A day of service at MasterKey Ministries of Grayson County includes a volunteer period followed by distribution. Attendees should park in the back.

DISD 5K for Kindness & Fun Run/Walk

Denison ISD will host the 11th annual 5K for Kindness along with a 1 mile fun run at Denison High School, aiming to bring as many families as possible together for a positive community experience. Proceeds support the Rachel Ramer Scholarship, the Denison Education Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Club of Denison. Race day includes on-site registration, the 1 mile event, and the 5K. Early packet pickup will be available at Munson Stadium, with additional pickup offered on race day. For the safety and comfort of participants, pets are not allowed on the course. Participants who register ahead of the deadline are guaranteed an event T-shirt. After that point, shirts are available while supplies last and sizes may be limited. Sponsors help provide T-shirts, prizes, water, fruit, and electronic timing equipment, and major sponsors are recognized with logos on the back of the event shirt. Spring Living History Days

Frontier Village & Museum presents a living history experience that brings the mid to late nineteenth century to life. Costumed interpreters and interactive demonstrations fill the village, giving a close look at how early settlers in Grayson County lived and worked. Guests can explore eleven historic homes and cabins, seeing firsthand the tools, tasks, and traditions that shaped daily life on the frontier. Activities include blacksmithing at the forge, butter making, and pioneer household skills, with a live cannon demonstration adding to the sights and sounds. The program is designed for all ages and blends learning with hands-on discovery. A concession stand will be available. Admission is $8, and member discounts may be offered.

Spring Plant Sale

The Texas Master Gardeners of Grayson County present their annual plant sale with a wide selection of locally grown plants for home gardens and landscapes. Knowledgeable volunteers will be available to answer questions and share practical tips. The event also features a raffle with prizes, a variety of vendors, and additional offerings. Gardeners of every experience level can explore healthy plants and get guidance to help their yards thrive. Denison Public Library is presenting the second annual LitCon, a family friendly event filled with plenty of fun. Returning for year two, it offers an inviting experience for attendees of all ages.

Paddle Palooza

Paddle Palooza offers a free, beginner-friendly kayaking experience at Lonestar Legacy Park in Waterloo Lake Regional Park. It is suitable for those trying kayaking for the first time as well as anyone interested in a relaxed outing on the water. Attendees can expect hands-on guidance, practical tips for getting started, and a supportive environment to build confidence, with basic instruction and assistance available throughout. Personal kayaks are welcome, and a limited number of kayaks will be provided at no cost. It is a simple way to try something new and enjoy time on the lake.

Painting with Goats

Pickles & Pottery presents a playful session where you select a pottery piece on site and paint while baby goats wander nearby. You can pet and cuddle the goats and snap photos as you work, letting them inspire a goat themed design or painting any style you like. Pottery is purchased at the event, and tickets cover entry only. All ages are welcome, and a ticket is required for each person age 3 and up. Ticket availability is limited.

Saturday Night Open Skate

Grow & Manifest Magic

Experience a creative, grounding workshop that combines decorating a pot, planting herbs, and crafting personal affirmations with gentle guidance for intention setting. Each participant receives a pot, an herb, and paint supplies, then creates a living reminder of their goals while exploring mindfulness, creativity, and positivity. The cost is $40 per person and includes all materials and guidance, with a bring-a-friend option available for $70 for two. Space is limited, and the experience can also be given as a meaningful gift.

May 2026 Rally - Fish Fry and Fellowship

Pack a lawn chair and an appetite for a fish fry with plenty of fellowship. Following the meal, a bake-off auction for the kids will be held in the ROC.

Sewing group meet up

Gather at Sherman Elks Lodge No 2280 for a relaxed sewing meetup. Bring the project you are currently working on and, if you have one, your sewing machine. If you do not have a machine, a few spares will be available to use. New participants are welcome. For tools, consider packing fabric scissors, pinking shears, tailor's chalk, pins or clips, and a clear ruler. The bar will be open with drinks and snacks.

Attend a curated tour of homes and gardens. Your tour begins at any of the featured homes, where you will pick up your raffle ticket and start your self-guided experience. The last stop is at Still Charming, where you can enjoy food and drinks, pick up swag bags, and enter to win raffle prizes and gift cards. There will be complimentary doggie daycare available at House of Eli’s new kennel.

Adult Night is a skating session reserved for ages 18 and up. Expect a kid-free floor without teenagers or toddlers using skate trainers darting in front of you. Friends of the Library Book Talk

A Friends of the Library book talk at Sherman Public Library features Lana Caswell Garcia discussing The Mother Next Door: Medicine, Deception and Munchausen by Proxy by Andrea Dunlop and Mike Weber. This narrative nonfiction work examines Munchausen by Proxy, a form of child abuse in which a caregiver fabricates or causes illness in a child. The authors bring complementary perspectives, with Dunlop writing as a novelist whose family was affected by MBP and Weber contributing insights from his work as a detective on medical child abuse cases. No registration or tickets are required to attend.

Coffee pairs with a cause in partnership with D.A.W.G. Denison Animal Welfare Group, with 15 percent of event sales donated to support the organization. Tails on the Trails

Set out on a relaxed one mile loop with a park ranger and a rescue animal from Sherman Animal Shelter. Meet at the OHV Parking Lot to begin. The trail is easy, though it can be muddy depending on conditions, so dress for the weather, wear sturdy footwear, and bring plenty of water. A liability waiver is required and will be provided on site that day. Personal pets should be left at home. There is no additional fee beyond park admission, and plans may change in the event of inclement weather.

Eric Davis Memorial Run

This memorial ride honoring Eric Davis begins at Pro Custom Cycles and will include a route through Tom Bean, traveling down 2729 from Old Ida Rd before turning right onto Hwy 11. All vehicles are welcome, with motorcycles leading and other vehicles following. Eric inspired the creation of For The Love Of Bikes Bikers and Brotherhood. He had been a dedicated salesman at Texoma Harley Davidson before a serious motorcycle accident on July 4, 2017. During his long recovery while caring for his young son, a first fundraiser was organized, and his enduring love for bikes, bikers, and the brotherhood helped shape the organization’s name. Annual fundraisers later supported many in the Texoma biker community and beyond. Although injuries kept him from working full time, he remained close to the world he loved alongside his friend and brother, Lee Brooks. This ride is planned as a final tribute in his memory. Wearing red is encouraged, as it was his favorite color.

As many as 25 food trucks compete, starting with sample-size tastings during the competition, then shifting to full menus later in the day. Live music spans two stages, and activities include a kids zone, cornhole, and adult beverages. A total of $5,000 will be awarded to participating trucks, and admission is free, with food and drinks available for purchase. Music, games, and shopping continue throughout the day.

Shark Infested Waters 1 Mile

Paddle a calm, winding creek that sits atop an ancient seabed and search for fossilized shark teeth along the way. This ticketed outing spans a few unhurried hours on the water and is suitable for ages 6 and up, welcoming beginners and families. Participants may use a paddleboard, kayak, or canoe, and the experience includes narrated guidance as you float and explore. Ice-cold water is provided, and you are welcome to remain on the creek longer with your own gear. 10th Annual Classic Chevrolet Cadillac-Wheeler & Castellanos Back the Badge Memorial Golf Tournament

Now in its tenth year, this memorial golf tournament at Tanglewood Resort brings golfers together to recognize and support the people who protect Texoma. Presented by Good Earth Soil & Materials, Top Notch Electrician, and Flanagan’s Outdoor Power Equipment, the event continues a strong tradition of giving. Over the past nine years, nearly $700,000 has been raised, providing assistance to hundreds of local officers and their families in times of need. The tournament features four person teams and a raffle that includes a gun giveaway.

Sherman Bird Festival

The Sherman Cultural District partners with Friends of Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge for a full day celebrating Sherman’s connection to the birds of North Texas. As a first year festival, it features the unveiling of five public sculptures, a juried art exhibition, the Sherman Art Dash, hands-on activities for children, nature talks with birding opportunities, and specials at restaurants and shops from breakfast through late night. The day spans multiple locations, with happenings throughout the Downtown Sherman Cultural District and additional programming at Hagerman, where the companion Hagerman Bird Festival offers bird walks, art activities, and more. Most activities are free and open to all, with the Art Dash requiring a ticket. It is a community-wide blend of art and nature that highlights the beauty and ecological importance of local birdlife.

The day begins at the Discover Denison Visitor Center with a short introduction and materials pickup, then participants choose the stops they want to see. Volunteers are present at the properties to share information, answer questions, and gather contact details as visitors circulate. The tour concludes, and visitors are encouraged to enjoy a local restaurant and experience more of downtown. Thursday Evening Hot Summer Nights Ride

Enjoy a paved road ride in downtown Sherman followed by a Hot Summer Night concert featuring alternative rock band Eve6 at Lucy Kidd-Key Park near City Hall. Bring a lawn chair and plan to sample local food trucks. A suggested 17 mile route is available, and pace typically starts around 10 mph. This Texoma Cycling Club ride is no-drop. Helmets are required. Participants must be 18 or older, or ride with a parent or guardian, and should already be comfortable riding on the road and in traffic. Suggested parking is in the lot just east of Sherman City Hall on Mulberry Street, across from First United Methodist Church. New riders will need to complete a waiver.

EVE 6 at Sherman's Hot Summer Nights 2026

Now in its 32nd year, the City of Sherman’s Hot Summer Nights concert series welcomes alternative rock band Eve 6 to the Gazebo Stage. The show opens with local performer Shawn Fussell, followed by a headlining set from Eve 6. After the concert on the lawn, the celebration continues with the series’ official after-party at The Post in Downtown Sherman. These free outdoor concerts take place at Lucy Kidd-Key Park. Attendees often explore nearby shops and restaurants, bring coolers with food and drinks, or choose from the on-site food trucks. Friends, families, and lawn chairs fit right in for a relaxed setting of live music.

Explore the hidden diets of owls in a hands-on science activity led by a park ranger. Participants will carefully dissect owl pellets to identify bones and other clues that reveal what these nocturnal predators have been eating. The activity takes place at the OHV Pavilion, and all supplies are provided. Programs may be canceled if weather conditions require it, so plan for the forecast and dress accordingly. Painting with Goats 🐐

Pickles & Pottery is hosting a playful painting session alongside baby goats. Select a piece of pottery at the studio and paint while spending time with the goats. The show features an opening set by Los Morros, followed by Grupo Bryndis as the headliner. After the free concert on the lawn, the Official After Party continues a few blocks east at The Post in Downtown Sherman. Attendees can explore downtown shops or enjoy local restaurants beforehand. Coolers with food and drinks are welcome, food trucks will be available, and lawn chairs are encouraged for comfortable seating.

Admission is free for this Music on Main concert, part of a family friendly summer series that returns each year in downtown Denison. Walk with a Doc

Walk with a Doc features a brief 5 to 10 minute talk by a local physician, followed by a walk. Participants choose their own distance and pace. If it rains or the temperature is below 40 degrees, the talk will be moved to The ROC at Parkside.

Bring any sewing project to work on at Sherman Elks Lodge No 2280. New participants are welcome. If you have a machine, feel free to bring it, and if not, there are spares available. Helpful tools to have on hand include fabric scissors, pinking shears, Taylor's chalk, stick pins or clips, and a clear ruler. Expect a relaxed, fun atmosphere, and note that the bar will be open for drinks and snacks.
