What the Constitution Means to Me

At San Angelo Performing Arts Center, Heidi Schreck’s play explores the U.S. Constitution through lived experience. Inspired by her teenage success in Constitutional debate competitions that helped pay for college, she steps back into that role to connect the document to four generations of women in her family. With humor and a deeply personal perspective, the story considers whom the Constitution was written for and how its meaning changes from one era to the next, a reflection that resonates as the nation commemorates 250 years. A conversation with the audience follows every performance, and voter registration will be available at each show. Because of mature language and themes, the production is recommended for ages 13 and up. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for military, veterans, and students, and one performance offers $10 tickets for everyone. Appreciation is extended to American Legion Post 572.
