Free open play features small-sided soccer in 7v7 and 9v9 formats for ages U11 to U18. This edition centers on the theme Keepers of the Prairie, with chances to earn a Prairie Protector Passport, visit stations focused on keeping wildlife safe, enjoy face painting and photo opportunities, discover facts about prairie animals at education stations, take a prairie walk, build enrichment items, and create seed packets or seed bombs. Agents of Discovery and other surprises add to the experience. An additional guided bird walk led by the Prairies & Timbers Audubon Society opens the day and includes a peaceful stop at the bird blind and water feature to observe native birds in their habitat, followed by the main First Saturday activities. Photography is welcome, and a Quiet Area with sensory friendly activities is available in partnership with Sensory Days Dallas. All ticket sales support the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, a small, self sustaining nonprofit dedicated to caring for raptors, protecting the Blackland Prairie, and offering educational programs for families, with additional donations appreciated. As an outdoor program, plans may change in cases of heavy rain or lightning. If postponed, tickets can be used for the new date or for a future First Saturday, and if neither option works the ticket may be treated as a donation to BPRC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
