This ride suits newcomers to gravel as well as riders training for a race, taking advantage of longer daylight hours. The group heads out from a bike shop, warms up on bikeways, then picks up speed on the levee, with several regroup points along the way. Plan for roughly 23 miles at about 13 to 18 miles per hour. Strong lights are required, and riders should have navigation ready, such as Google Maps on a phone or a preloaded GPS route; the route is noted in the comments. Set out from Active Cycling for a century ride with options for different paces. The A group has no speed cap and suits riders seeking a very fast effort. The B group moves up to about 22 mph with a steady, strong rhythm. A C group with a shorter route is planned and will be confirmed. This is a drop ride. Rest stops are planned around mile 42 at Chevron 290 and mile 77 at Shell Monaville Express. Front and rear lights are required, and riders without lights cannot participate. Strong riders are encouraged to take longer pulls. Helmets are mandatory, traffic laws must be followed, and courteous group etiquette is expected. Bring spares and basic tools, and check your tubeless sealant if you use it. Participation is at your own risk, and by riding you agree to hold organizers, ride leaders, and fellow participants harmless for any personal or equipment damage.
