Oil Pastel Class with Sina Sung

Explore color in a hands-on oil pastel class led by instructor Sina Sung at the Art Center of Corpus Christi Bayview Gallery. Participants will practice blending with their hands and layering hues to see how colors mix and change, while studying the color wheel and complementary color relationships to build depth and richness in their artwork. Please bring a 48-color set of oil pastels, a 9 by 12 inch mixed media sketchbook, and a few tissues and cotton swabs. The instructor is an oil pastel artist who focuses on creating rich color and texture through blending, revealing unexpected tones and fine detail. Painting with a Twist presents Pop In & DIY, a flexible, self-directed art session for all ages and skill levels. Drop in during Pop In hours or reserve a time, choose a project from the in-studio selection, and use the provided guides and instructions to create something that is entirely your own. Blacklight Family Painting Fun

Enjoy a family-friendly blacklight painting session featuring glowing jellyfish. Everyone in attendance participates, and each person needs their own paid reservation, so spectators are not permitted. Those who are sensitive to flashing or strobe-style lighting should choose a regular painting class instead of the blacklight option. This is an alcohol-free gathering for the safety of children, and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks are welcome. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who also has a reserved seat, and drop-offs are not allowed. A candle-making option may be available, though it is not advised for children younger than 10, and all minors require adult supervision for this activity. At the Art Center of Corpus Christi Lockett Gallery, private crochet lessons with Amber Buhidar provide one-on-one guidance for ages 9 and older. Instruction covers the essentials, including how to hold a hook, manage tension, start a chain, make single crochet stitches, and turn your work, along with helpful tips that simplify learning. These sessions suit complete beginners as well as returning makers who want to refresh skills, get advice on a current project, or focus on a specific stitch. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yarn and hook so they can continue at home, and a coffee or tea is welcome. Hooks and yarn will be available to use during the lesson. Left-handed learners are asked to inform the instructor in advance so she can prepare left-handed techniques. Two sessions are available. Camp La Palmera brings a season full of no-cost fun, offering a wide range of weekday activities that keep families entertained close to home. Sessions typically last one to four hours. Mondays spotlight karaoke, Tuesdays ramp up with Bingo Bonanza, and midweek features Campfire Chats that pair storytime for children 8 and under with mental health conversations open to all ages. Day Camp at Galilean Lutheran Church

A day camp is planned at Galilean Lutheran Church with limited space available. All campers and volunteers must register through Cross Trails Ministry. Teen Club offers a variety of activities at the TM Clark gym for teens looking for games and social fun. A community pack walk at Water’s Edge Park focuses on leash manners, socialization, and strengthening the bond between dogs and their handlers. The route heads along Ocean, and everyone is welcome to participate. For safety and comfort, use non-retractable leashes and clean up after your dog at all times. Dogs that show reactivity toward people or other dogs must remain under control, and non-client dogs with a history of dog or human aggression must wear a properly fitted muzzle that allows panting and drinking. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes, and bring water for yourself and your dog. Guidance will be available throughout the walk. The chapter supplies all fishing gear and kayaks, including single and tandem options, and also provides breakfast, a hot lunch, snacks, and a selection of beverages. A laid-back K9 social unfolds in the Tree Grove at Fifth & Elm, designed for people and their pups to relax together. Expect local vendors to browse, playful photo spots worth sharing, pup cups for canine companions, and refreshing paloma specials throughout the evening. Admission is free, and the atmosphere leans toward easy strolling, casual sipping, and friendly conversation. To keep things enjoyable for everyone, leashes are required at all times and retractable leashes are not allowed. Pets must remain under control and supervised, and any aggressive behavior will result in removal. Please clean up after your dog, with waste stations available, and limit two pets per handler. Pets are not permitted inside The Grove except for service animals. Be considerate of other guests, make use of the water stations to keep pets hydrated, and take a break or step out if your dog shows signs of stress. Good dogs, good drinks, and relaxed company set the tone.

NB Ridaz: Runaway Throwback Night ft. Big Gemini

NB Ridaz brings a Runaway Throwback Night to House of Rock in Corpus Christi. The group’s story stretches back to 1997 with The First Chapter and the hip hop charting single Down For Yours. Founding members Dos and Zig Zag helped shape Latin rap in the Southwest and Arizona, originally performing as Nasty Boy Klick with MC Magic, whose Billboard-recognized tracks include So Fly, Pretty Girl, and Runaway. Their music blends rap, urban, R&B, and hip hop, and the use of Spanish lyrics connected with a broad audience. Special Girl reached the Top 40 among independent albums. After Magic moved into a solo career in the mid-2000s, Dos and Zig Zag continued forward, and the group still draws crowds nationwide. A limited number of table seats are available for purchase. Set aside everyday stress and enjoy a relaxed creative session. No prior art experience is required. All supplies are provided, and an instructor offers step-by-step guidance so everyone leaves with a finished, fully dried canvas. Portland Farmers Market

The Portland Farmers Market brings the community together for a family friendly shopping experience centered on locally grown foods and handmade goods. Farmers, artisans, and crafters share their work in a welcoming environment that encourages buying local. The market has moved to the Fifth & Elm Venue. Vendors can choose a 10x10 street booth for $20 or a turf lawn booth for $30, and produce vendors participate at no cost. Vendors provide their own tables, chairs, and tents, and electricity is not available. Small, portable generators are allowed only in street spaces and are not permitted on turf. Participation requires a completed vendor application, with all submissions reviewed for approval and limits placed on the number of sellers offering similar items.
