Seawinds Arts&Sciences Meetings 2026

This twice-monthly Arts and Sciences gathering at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Corpus Christi offers a welcoming space to meet local artisans, watch their work up close, and pick up new skills from people who are happy to teach. The first meeting of the month typically includes an Officers and Populace discussion to review plans and upcoming activities. A live Zoom chat will be available for those who cannot attend in person. If the session ends after about 40 minutes, a new one will be opened shortly so the conversation can continue. There is no participation fee through the SCA and Seawinds. The venue requests a monthly facility contribution of 25 dollars for these meetings, and contributions toward that cost are appreciated. The site does not permit alcohol, and attendees are asked to clean up before leaving.

23rd Annual St. Pius X Golf Classic

The 23rd Annual St. Pius X Golf Classic unites faith, fellowship, and friendly competition at Oso Beach Municipal Golf Course to benefit St. Pius X Catholic School and its students. Teams will take on a four-player scramble for a day of spirited play and school pride. Expect awards for both teams and individuals, on-course contests and games, mulligans, and added excitement with a raffle and auction. Businesses and community partners can participate through sponsorships that help invest in the future of Catholic education. Tuesday Night Golf League (every week)

A new season brings a refreshed weekly league, bigger, better, and focused into a single night. Two person teams compete on The Blue Heron at Lozano Golf Center. Entry is $39 per player or $78 per team, and that price includes tax and the prize fund. Each week features a cash skins game for $10 per team, payable in cash, along with closest to the pin challenges, rotating two person formats throughout the season, and weekly food and drink specials. The league has been consolidated into one weekly event to elevate competition and build stronger payouts. Registration is online only and capacity is limited.

Birds & Clicks – Blucher Park

A casual birding and photography outing at Blucher Park centers on finding migrating species and photographing whatever turns up. With spring migration in full swing in Corpus Christi, participants can look for warblers, vireos, and more. Bring a camera or phone, comfortable shoes, water, and an appreciation for the outdoors. All experience levels are welcome, with supportive guidance available on site. If you need gear assistance, arrangements can be made, including access to a longer Canon lens. The atmosphere is low pressure, focused on birds, cameras, and friendly company.

Wave Walkers is a walking club sponsored by Corpus Christi Medical Center in partnership with La Palmera Mall. Feathered Love - a Date Night Acrylic Painting Class with Marshall Hall

A couples-friendly acrylic painting class led by artist Marshall Hall takes place in the Bay View Gallery at the Art Center of Corpus Christi. Couples can learn together while exploring the greater flamingo as a symbol of love, then head home with artwork ready to display. All supplies are included, and each participant works on a 16x20 canvas. All experience levels are welcome. Hall emphasizes practical tools and concepts that carry into future projects, so the finished piece serves as both a keepsake and a record of new skills. A Californian artist from a family of creatives spanning three generations, he began drawing early and became fascinated by creating depth on a flat surface through line, shading, and contrast. He received oil paints as a child, embraced acrylics soon after, and saw his signature approach take shape in 1980. He refocused on that vision in 2015 and has continued developing his portfolio to share it more widely. April Paint & Sip at The Pelican

Seawinds Fighter Practice 2026 I

Seawinds hosts fighter practice at West Guth Park arranged to accommodate different schedules. Spectators are welcome and participation is free. Adults interested in trying it out can use loaner equipment after signing a waiver, participants must be 18 or older, and assistance is available to get geared up for a gentle introduction. Youth Combat is offered for ages 6 to 17 with foam padded weapons, and loaner gear is available. On a case by case basis, participants ages 16 to 17 may be approved to use the same equipment as adults. All youth participants must be accompanied at all times by a parent or legal guardian who will also sign the waiver. Activities depend on the weather and details may change, with updates posted as soon as possible. Look for a small blue and yellow Seawinds seashell banner to find the practice location. COVID precautions are encouraged. Food and drink are not provided other than bottled waters, and attendees may bring their own and share if they choose at their own risk. The Society for Creative Anachronism follows applicable laws to support the health and safety of participants, yet in person activities still carry a risk of exposure to infectious diseases. By taking part, attendees acknowledge these risks and agree to take any additional steps they believe are necessary to protect themselves and those in their care.

Created before Rent, Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical follows Jon, a young composer striving for a breakthrough while balancing love, friendship, and ambition. Set in 1990, his girlfriend is ready to settle down outside the city, his best friend is soaring in advertising on Madison Avenue, and he is still waiting tables while chasing the great American musical. Presented as a rock musical with a band, the show features fourteen songs and a three-actor ensemble that brings ten characters to life, blending pop, rock, and classic musical theatre styles at Aurora Arts Theatre. Tickets are Pay What You Can with a suggested donation of $12 per ticket, and all proceeds benefit the Peter Lopez Memorial Scholarship Fund. Community Clinic🐾💉 | Gulf Coast Humane Society

Low-cost and free pet care options are being brought together into a single drive-thru community clinic that is open to everyone. The clinic provides limited veterinary services and does not include physical wellness exams. Attendance is capped at 50 pets, with no more than four pets per vehicle. Select services remain free for people receiving government assistance, and both proof of assistance and a matching ID are required. It offers the same care with easier access in one convenient setting for the entire community.

Oil Pastel Class with Sina Sung

Explore color and oil pastel techniques in a guided class at the Art Center of Corpus Christi Bayview Gallery. Participants will learn how to use color with intention by blending pigments by hand, layering different hues, and studying the color wheel and complementary relationships to build depth and richness in their artwork. Please bring oil pastels with 48 colors, a mixed media sketchbook sized 9 by 12 inches, and a few tissues and cotton swabs. The class is taught by an artist who specializes in oil pastels, focusing on creating vivid textures, nuanced tones through blending, and detailed finishes. Anglers, families, and friends gather on the Texas coast for the 29th edition of the Mr. & Mrs. Big Trout Tournament, a weekend centered on friendly competition, community, and impressive catches. Doc’s Seafood & Steaks hosts the festivities, beginning with a kickoff day that features on-site registration, dinner, a captain’s meeting, and a Calcutta. Tournament day includes a live-fish weigh-in followed by dinner, with trophies and cash awards up for grabs. Teams may enter for $600, with up to four anglers per boat, and divisions are available for Amateur, Pro, and Women’s Open. Sponsorships are available.

ArtWalk

First Friday ArtWalk at the Art Center of Corpus Christi brings free, community-wide fun to the Art Center Courtyard. An opening reception highlights two new exhibitions, Ozman Romero’s Hero and Las Donas de la Corte’s Court of Majestic Odysseys 2026 Coronation Gowns. KidsWalk Pirate Field Day offers hands-on activities for all ages, including decorating a treasure map to take home, designing a custom Jolly Roger, digging for gold coins and painted rocks to keep, a foam cannonball toss, a pirate costume corner with bandanas, eye patches and a photo backdrop, a pirate-themed handprint craft, and a sink or float water table for curious testing.

Creative Mug Workshop with Lorena Gonzalez

This two-day, hands-on workshop centers on throwing mugs on the wheel with a focus on organic shapes, thoughtful alterations, careful trimming, and solid handle construction. Participants will make multiple pieces while exploring how proportion, surface texture, and gentle distortions can transform a basic cylinder into a lively, expressive mug. Instruction covers pulling and attaching your own handles and experimenting with specialty techniques such as sodium silicate texturing, faceting, rim changes, and optional darting. At the end, each person selects two favorite mugs to be glazed and fired. The class welcomes beginners, and having some experience with centering, opening, and lifting a cylinder will be helpful. Anyone who has completed an introductory wheel course will feel especially comfortable. The workshop takes place in the Art Center of Corpus Christi Clay Studio. Guidance is provided by Lorena, whose lifelong connection to ceramics and painting began in childhood. Growing up on a ranch along the Rio Grande, she worked with clay gathered from the land and pigments made from native fruits and plants, nurturing a lasting appreciation for natural materials and organic forms. Her practice later expanded to acrylics and then oils, influences that continue to shape her current work. Please note that classes are not exchangeable, and refunds are issued only if the Art Center cancels.

Flour Bluff Hornet Takeover

Hornet pride takes center stage at Whataburger Field as Flour Bluff fans fill the ballpark with maroon during a Corpus Christi Hooks game, creating a spirited night for families, friends, and the school community. The festivities include a pre-game interview with Superintendent Steinbruck, a ceremonial first pitch from Buzzy, and the national anthem performed by the Flour Bluff High School Choir before the game gets underway. After the final out, the celebration continues with Muttin’ Bustin and a fireworks show. The first 2,000 fans receive a free bolo cap. Downtown Corpus Christi transforms for First Friday ArtWalk presented by H-E-B, a pirate-themed celebration filled with art, music, food, and activities for all ages. The experience stretches across 11 downtown blocks and inside 18 participating businesses, offering live entertainment, local artwork, and interactive moments throughout the evening. The Corona Premier Music Stage, hosted by CCDMD, features performances from Amos Burr and the Stickerburrs with a mix of Texas swing, Cajun fiddling, and country, followed by Latin Grammy-nominated Grupo Vidal bringing the energetic Vidal Experience. The Downtown Pirate Quest adds a digital treasure hunt that spans the district, where participants scan QR codes, collect treasure, try pirate yoga, enter a pirate costume contest, and complete themed challenges for chances to win prizes. At Hilliard Center, the Professional Bull Riders Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Finals showcases the premier PBR expansion tour, with elite riders matched against some of the toughest bulls in the country. Powerful sound, dynamic lighting and special effects heighten the atmosphere, delivering the kind of intensity fans expect from the global leader in bull riding. This is not a traditional rodeo. It is two hours of pyrotechnics, music and nonstop bull riding, featuring a lineup of top riders and animal athletes. The event features Carly Pearce.

Die Fledermaus

Settle in for a lighthearted, comedic evening of operetta performed entirely in English at the Performing Arts Center. The production features TAMU-CC Opera directed by Dr. Jessica Spafford, with the Concert Orchestra under Dr. Brian Shelton and Camerata Isla led by Dr. Ross Bernhardt. Admission is free for students with ID and $5 for others.

Lone Star Submission Series

Test technique in a submission-focused, Last Man Standing tournament that emphasizes skill over weight cutting. Open to Beginner competitors, defined as White Belt or up to two years of training, and Intermediate competitors, defined as Blue Belt or up to four years of training, for men and women ages 16 and up. The format runs Last Man Standing within each weight bracket and in an absolute division, with zero tolerance for stalling. Illegal techniques include twisting locks on the spine, twisting ankle locks, and calf slicers. Competitors are encouraged to compete at natural weight, with no cutting or hydration depletion required. Registration is a flat $25 for all divisions, with fees due in full to compete. Payment can be made online during registration or in person at weigh-ins, and an email with a payment link is sent after RSVP. A new season brings a refreshed weekly golf league built around a one night shootout on the Blue Heron course at Lozano Golf Center. Teams of two compete with formats that rotate throughout the season to keep play dynamic. The entry fee is 39 dollars per player or 78 dollars per team, and it includes tax and the prize fund. Each week features a cash skins game for 10 dollars per team cash only, closest to the pin challenges, and food and drink specials. The league has been consolidated into a single weekly night to heighten competition, build stronger payouts, and add more energy. Registration is online only.

He grew up immersed in art from an early age, fascinated by building the illusion of depth on a flat surface through line, shading, and contrast. He began painting with oils at seven and embraced acrylics by eleven. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s College of Business presents the 45th Annual G. Russell Kirkland Distinguished Visiting Executive Lecture honoring David P. Seawinds Fighter Practice 2026 I

Seawinds offers regular fighter practices designed to fit different schedules, with two gatherings each week. Sunday sessions are typically at West Guth Park, with the first Sunday shifting to Cole Park, and Wednesday practices take place at East Cliff Park. Look for the blue and yellow seashell banner to find the group. Activities depend on the weather and plans can change, and updates are shared as quickly as possible. Spectators are welcome and there is no cost to take part. Adults interested in trying the activities can use loaner gear, must be 18 or older, and will be asked to sign a waiver before being outfitted. Youth Combat is available for ages 6 to 17 using foam-padded weapons. Participants ages 16 to 17 may, in some cases, be approved to use the same equipment as adults. Loaner gear is available, participation is free, and every youth must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times, who also needs to sign the waiver. Gulf Coast Humane Society’s Community Clinic combines low-cost and free offerings into a single, convenient drive-thru experience that is open to everyone. These clinics provide limited veterinary services, and physical wellness exams are not available. Capacity is limited to 50 pets per clinic, with a maximum of four pets per vehicle. Select services remain free for individuals receiving government assistance, and proof of assistance with a matching ID is required. The same level of care is now available with broader access in one clinic for the community.

Group Obedience Class

A midweek group obedience class kicks off with practical training in a supportive setting. Participants will practice staying focused around distractions, improve control while handling a lead, and work on different positions along with other helpful skills. The cost is $65.

Beginner Urban Sketching w/ Sina Sung

At the Art Center of Corpus Christi Lockett Gallery, this beginner friendly urban sketching class introduces the foundations of drawing and sketching. Under the guidance of urban sketch artist Sina Sung, newcomers explore geometric forms and perspective, learn to create convincing two and three dimensional effects with waterproof fine point pens and watercolor, and practice thoughtful composition for landscapes and still life. Students work from a photo of an inspiring landscape, building, or city scene to develop personal sketches and begin a sketchbook they can continue to fill on their own. The class is designed to build confidence in capturing everyday moments and travel scenes through quick, expressive drawings. Coffee Painting with Sam Derleth

Buc Days Food Challenge

Students from across Texas come together for the annual Buc Days Food Challenge, presented by H-E-B Helping Here, a team-based culinary contest at the Hillard Center. Teams receive a predetermined set of ingredients, decide on a recipe, prepare their dish with a focus on nutrition and safety, and deliver a presentation to the judges. Competition rounds culminate with an awards ceremony on the Community Stage. The event reflects the 4-H Food & Nutrition Project, through which more than 100,000 young people develop skills in making wholesome meals and adopting habits that may reduce the risk of chronic disease. Buc Days FIRST Tech Challenge

Buc Days Robotics Rodeo, part of the FIRST Tech Challenge and presented by CITGO, brings together students in grades 7 through 12 for a high-energy robotics competition that puts STEM knowledge, engineering skills, and teamwork to the test. Teams design, build, and program classroom-scale robots that first run autonomous routines, then switch to student-driven control for head-to-head two-versus-two matches. A total of $7,000 in prizes will be awarded to the top teams. The competition takes place in the Henry Garrett Ballroom at the Hilliard Center and wraps up with an award ceremony honoring standout performances. A broad set of divisions is available for multiple age groups and skill levels. Skill brackets include 3.49 and below, 3.5 to 3.99, 4.0 to 4.49, and 4.5 and above. Youth Pottery Class: Coil Built Turtles

Young artists ages 7 to 10 can explore clay in a one session workshop at the Art Center of Corpus Christi Lockett Gallery. They will learn about turtle anatomy and local wildlife as they form a coiled shell, attach fins, and use studio tools to add textures and details. Finished pieces will be fired and ready for pickup about three to four weeks after class, and an email will be sent when the artwork is available. Beach to Bay Relay Marathon

Registration is currently open for this coastal relay marathon, which has grown to rank among the largest of its kind in the United States. 2026 PRL Single-man #2

A single-day, boat-only redfish tournament takes place at Doc's Seafood and Steaks, featuring a live weigh-in held during the Corpus Christi Crawfish Festival. The field is limited to the first 30 teams. Anglers target three redfish over the course of the day, each measuring 20 to 28 inches in Texas, and only artificial lures are allowed. Entry is $1,000, with an optional $250 Calcutta paying first, second, and third at 50, 30, and 20 percent for those entered, plus a $250 Big Fish pot.

14th Annual Farm to Table: Field to Shore Brunch & Fundraiser

Now in its fourteenth year, Field to Shore Brunch brings the Coastal Bend’s farm to table community together for a celebratory fundraiser that benefits Grow Local South Texas. Presented in partnership with the Coastal Bend Chefs and the Texas Chefs Association, this bayside gathering highlights the farmers, fishermen, chefs, and food artisans who keep the local food system thriving. Guests can expect a menu sourced entirely from nearby producers, featuring Gulf Coast seafood, peak seasonal harvests, local meats and dairy, and thoughtfully crafted sauces, relishes, and desserts prepared by leading Coastal Bend chefs. Live music, a silent auction, and a community celebration add to the experience, with proceeds supporting the organization’s mission to improve access to, education about, and advocacy for affordable, nutrient dense foods in South Texas. Support helps power weekly farmers markets, youth gardening and culinary programs, cooking workshops and chef demonstrations, producer development and local agriculture support, and environmental education projects such as the Banquette Sensory Rain Garden. Coastal Bend TX Chapter on the water Kayak Fishing Adventure!

A free kayak fishing outing offers a welcoming experience on the water for registered veterans, members of the armed forces, first responders, their immediate family members, and volunteers. The chapter supplies all fishing gear and kayaks, including single and tandem options, and also provides breakfast, a hot lunch, snacks, and a selection of beverages. Pre-registration with the chapter is required before an invitation is issued; to express interest in participating, volunteering, or joining the mailing list, email coastalbend@heroesonthewater.org. Participants are responsible for securing any required fishing license. The experience emphasizes paddling, fishing, and personal well-being.
