Drive Out Hunger benefiting Feed America First offers a full day on the course at Towhee Club while supporting neighbors facing hunger in small towns and rural communities across Tennessee and beyond. Free English Classes

This free English as a Second Language class creates a supportive, interactive space to strengthen speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through conversation practice, grammar work, and collaboration in small groups. Lessons are taught mainly in English and focus on everyday communication, using visuals and repetition to build vocabulary and improve pronunciation. Registration can be completed in English or Spanish. To sign up, create an account, fill out the intake form, and wait for an instructor to get in touch. A required orientation offered monthly at the library must be completed before attending the class, and the instructor will help set everything up. This service is provided by the South Central TN Workforce Alliance in partnership with the Spring Hill Public Library.

Saturday, May 9th- 'UTL' AVPA COED Doubles

Hyden Beach hosts an Under the Lights coed doubles tournament, marking the first UTL event of the season. Divisions are available at AA for advanced players, A for intermediate, and B for beginners, and both adults and juniors are welcome. Registration capacity will open based on demand. Competition starts with pool play, then moves into a single-elimination bracket, with the format adjusted to the number of teams and divisions to allow for as many matches as possible. Under the Lights events are typically shorter and lower cost, often wrapping within about four to five hours. An active AVPA membership is required to participate, with Gold needed for national events and at least Silver for local tournaments. Walk-up registrations are not accepted, and payment in advance is required to secure a spot. The format may change and divisions may be combined if needed, and at least five teams are required in a division or in a combined division for the event to proceed.

SORBA and Bike Walk Brentwood are organizing a volunteer workday at the Smith Park Mountain Bike Trail to support trail maintenance. Canning 101

Learn the time honored skill of home canning in a beginner friendly class led by Leigh Funderburk. This two hour session explains why preserving your own food can help you know exactly what is in your meals and support better everyday nutrition. Participants will swap recipes, sample pickles, jams, and jellies, and explore how to build a well stocked pantry. The cost is $45 and includes all supplies and instructions. The class features a live demonstration of pressure canning for low acid foods such as green beans and meats, along with water bath canning for tomatoes, jams, and pickles. Blanching for the freezer is also covered. You will hear about the full process for making jelly and jam and for pickling, and you will see the ingredients and equipment needed to preserve a wide range of foods for your pantry or freezer. 2026 - Jeff Phares - Human Bust Carving Class

Build your carving skills in a three day class centered on the human form, led by carver and instructor Jeff Phares. He began carving in 1984 while working as a lab assistant producing animal vaccines, largely taught himself, then in 1991 met John Burke and moved into carving full time. Since then he has received several awards, taught extensively, authored five books, and created work in clay, bronze, and some stone. He divides his time between California and Illinois and continues to carve, sculpt, and teach. Participants may carve any human subject, and using mallet tools is recommended. Class size ranges from 7 to 10 students. The fee is $365 per person, plus a share of the instructor’s travel expenses that will be calculated by dividing total travel costs by the number of registered students. Plan to pay your portion of travel costs directly to Jeff upon arrival, with the final amount determined at the start of class. Blanks are an additional expense. Sunday, July 12th- AVPA ADULT Queen of the Court

Hyden Beach hosts an adult AVPA Queen of the Court tournament for beach volleyball players. Divisions include A/BB for intermediate competitors and AA/A for those at an intermediate to advanced level. Players register as individuals, and the planned format features a single round of pool play with rotating partners so everyone teams up during pools. The structure may be adjusted depending on turnout, and divisions may be combined for the early rounds if numbers are low. An active AVPAmerica membership is required to participate; players pursuing national events need Gold membership, while local-only competitors need at least Silver. On-site entries are not permitted, and payment in advance is required to confirm a place.

E-Sports & Strategy Games Camp

A Bob Ross inspired camp led by Certified Ross Instructor Quintin Burlingame welcomes young creatives to paint serene landscapes in a guided, step by step setting. Options include an acrylic based track for artists who are not ready to work with oils, where fundamentals are taught to build confidence and produce frame worthy results. Each participant completes five unique pieces on 9 by 12 inch canvas boards, with new subjects introduced compared to prior years. Some sessions also explore the signature wet on wet oil method made famous on The Joy of Painting. In each class, students finish an oil painting while practicing individual elements that come together as the classic mountain vistas. Saturday, July 18th- AVPA COED Doubles

Hyden Beach presents a coed doubles tournament offering AA advanced, A intermediate, and B beginner divisions. Adults and juniors may participate. Competition starts with pool play and then moves to a single elimination bracket, with the structure adjusted according to the number of teams and divisions so everyone gets as many games as possible. A minimum of five teams is required in a division, or in a combined division, for the event to proceed. An active AVPA membership is mandatory. Players aiming for national events need Gold membership, while those playing only local tournaments need at least Silver. Advance registration with payment is required and on-site sign ups are not allowed. Registration capacity may expand based on demand. Formats are subject to change and divisions may be combined if necessary.

Hosted by Love, Rae Grace, this intimate summer camp welcomes ages 7 to 12 for a week focused on self-love, creativity, and confidence in a boutique setting. Campers move through thoughtfully planned activities that encourage self-care, personal style, movement, and artistic expression. Days begin with a calm spa moment using jade rollers and under-eye patches, then continue with a charm necklace project that grows throughout the week. Creative time features projects like decorating jewelry boxes, designing totes, and making affirmation stones, along with other hands-on crafts. Campers can add sparkle with hair tinsel, enjoy yoga and wellness time, and take part in a styled fashion show paired with a photo session. Energy stays high with dance breaks, outdoor movement, and a customizable soda bar with sweet treats. Reflection is woven in through journaling with affirmations and group conversations that build confidence.
