Honor the sacrifice of 1stLt Travis Manion, USMC, by participating in the Manion WOD. Participants will receive a shirt and ruck patch. There is also an opportunity to fundraise in support of the Travis Manion Foundation and earn incentives. The workout includes a 400-meter run and 29 weighted back squats for 7 rounds, with modifications available for all fitness levels. Participants are asked not to bring any free weights unless they are inside a backpack or rucksack, as weights will be provided. Each participant will be required to sign a waiver. Geared toward parents, relatives, caregivers, educators and school staff, peers and neighbors, and those working in health and human services, the course introduces common youth mental health concerns and typical adolescent development, then teaches a practical five step action plan to help. Topics include anxiety, depression, substance use, conditions that may involve psychosis, disruptive behavior disorders including ADHD, and eating disorders. Sponsored by the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone, this class is valued at $170 and offered at no cost to participants. Space is limited and registration is required. Lunch will be provided. For elementary schools, the one with the most Fun Run participation from students and staff receives a contribution to its PE program. The Dash takes place in collaboration with the CMCSS employee Living Well Health and Wellness Event, and employees who complete the 5K and attend Living Well can qualify for extra prizes by showing a bib stamped to verify their finish. The 5K course is contained within the Rossview complex at Rossview High School and consists of two full laps, with volunteers and signs along the route to help with directions.

The Alpha Troop Association is organizing a reunion that could be the last official gathering unless newer A/2/17 alumni step forward to keep it going. The schedule aligns with the deactivation of the 2/17 Cavalry of the 101st Airborne, Armed Forces Day, and the start of the Week of Eagles. Plans include participating in a Casing of Colors ceremony and presenting a historical lineup that traces Alpha Troop’s evolution from Vietnam-era ground operations to its transition as an air cavalry unit. Featured aircraft are slated to include the OH-6 Cayuse, UH-1 Huey, AH-1 Cobra, and OH-58 Kiowa, with hopes that the active unit will also provide a UH-60 Blackhawk and AH-64 Apache. This tribute is being called the Gathering of Eagles. After the ceremony, the vehicles and helicopters are expected to move to Outlaw Field at Clarksville Regional Airport. The vehicles, along with the OH-6 and OH-58, are planned as static displays open at no cost to active-duty Troopers, veterans, and the public in honor of the 2/17’s service. The Huey and Cobra are intended to offer paid rides. Reunion activities are based at the Hilton Garden Inn Clarksville. Support to help cover event costs, estimated at $50,000, is welcome. An annual memorial ride organized by the Special Forces Brotherhood Motorcycle Club spans 85 miles in remembrance of the fallen. After the ride, a Dog Tag Ceremony will take place at the Special Forces Association Chapter 38 Safe House to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This is a hand-building session, not a pottery wheel class. In this 1.5-hour class, projects are made in the studio, left to dry, and kiln fired. The 3rd annual Clarksville Tattoo Expo, presented by Ink Masters Tattoo Show, offers four days of live tattooing and body piercing with up to 80 award-winning artists and piercers. Guests can meet professionals skilled in a wide range of styles, including realism, traditional, black and gray, and vibrant color, to create the design they have in mind. Daily free tattoo raffles will take place, with up to $1,200 in giveaways over the course of the event. Entry to the drawings is free, participants must be 18 and present to win.
