2026 AARP Pickleball Clinic

AARP SD and the picklers at Our Savior's Lutheran Church are hosting a hands-on pickleball clinic that blends instruction and play. Participants will receive on-court guidance from a licensed instructor, with a focus on fundamental techniques, skill building, and game play for all experience levels. At Plum's Cooking Company, instructor April Johnson leads a demonstration-style cooking experience created for Taylor Swift fans and inspired by three eras. The Life of a Showgirl course features a carrot and orange salad over mixed greens with shaved carrots, orange supremes, candied ginger, goat cheese, and crisp carrot chips dressed in an orange ginger vinaigrette, paired with a mimosa. The Red entrée highlights a stuffed bell pepper with rice and red beans, salsa roja, and cilantro lime crema with a homemade cherry limeade alongside. Sioux Falls Funniest Comic Contest

A free monthly stand up comedy contest at Lucky's Bar in The Club 224 welcomes newcomers and seasoned comics alike. The night is hosted by Adam Goodge and includes a featured set from last month's winner, Travis Ruston. Signups happen on site and the performance order is randomized before the show begins. Each comedian has up to five minutes with a cue light given shortly before the limit, and exceeding the limit leads to disqualification. To claim the win, performers must be present for the award announcement. The winner keeps a traveling trophy for one month, returns to deliver a featured set at the next contest, and receives a paid spot in the year end contest at Icon Event Hall. Winners must bring three judges for the following month and are not eligible to compete again for the remainder of the year. Judging focuses on stage persona, original material, audience reaction, memorization without notes, and professionalism such as room work, projection, and microphone control. Cathedral Organ Inauguration

St Joseph Cathedral presents the inaugural concert for its new organ, an instrument handcrafted by the Juget-Sinclair workshop in Montreal, Quebec. Built with influences from both German Baroque and French Romantic traditions, it brings a distinctive sound to the cathedral. The recital features Dr. Isabelle Demers, an internationally recognized concert artist from Québec. A doctoral graduate of the Juilliard School and Associate Professor of Organ at McGill University in Montreal, she has earned critical praise for virtuosity and bold musicality. Her performance career includes recitals across Europe, Oman, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Canada, and her recordings appear on the Acis and Pro Organo labels.

UNAA Regional

Athletes of all ages can test their skills at a UNAA sanctioned regional hosted by 605 Ninja, part of Season 11 of the Ultimate Ninja Athlete Association, a leading league for ninja style obstacle course racing. Competitors ages 6 and up are welcome. All divisions are offered, including 7 and under boys and girls, 9 and under boys and girls, 11 and under boys and girls, 13 and under boys and girls, 15 and under boys and girls, Amateur men and women, Intermediate men and women, Pro men and women, Over 40 men and women, and Over 50 men and women. The course is created by 605 Ninja designers in alignment with UNAA rules to deliver a true ninja challenge, and the top five finishers or the top 30 percent in each division, whichever is greater, will earn a spot at UNAA Finals. Entry is $75 per competitor, and late registration is $85. Spectator admission is $5 at the door. Two waivers are required, one for UNAA and one for 605 Ninja. Adopted Kids Camp

A free, single-day camp invites adoptees ages 8 to 12 to connect, learn, and have fun in a supportive setting with limited space available. The day features mentors who are adoptees themselves, plus activities like games, crafts, and story time, along with chances to build friendships, move their bodies, and engage in exercises that support emotional growth. Parents are welcomed at a drop-off coffee hour to meet one another and build support networks. Snacks, restroom breaks, and hydration are planned, and lunch is provided. During registration, families are asked to share dietary needs, the child’s name and age, shirt size, and any special considerations. The program is organized by LSS staff with a trauma-informed approach and a commitment to including all adoptees. Families are encouraged to consider the level of support their child receives in school. International Female Ride Day at J&L Harley-Davidson and Big Sioux Powersports highlights the spirit, skill, and independence of women who ride. This tournament uses the Yu-Gi-Oh Genesys format with a new points limit in effect. In this rule set, Link Monsters and Pendulum Monsters are not allowed, while all other cards are legal. Duels use the classic field layout, so there are no Extra Monster Zones or Pendulum Zones. The usual Forbidden and Limited list does not apply, which means those cards can be played in this event except for Link and Pendulum cards, and you may include up to three copies of any individual card. Deck building follows a points system that covers your Main, Extra, and Side Decks. Certain cards carry a point value while most cost zero, and the combined total across all decks must stay at or below the event’s point cap. The standard cap is 200, but organizers may choose any cap, including zero, for their tournament.

Two person teams face off in a weekly blind draw bracket at Golf Addiction, with play held outdoors on West Georgia boards. Each week pays out the entire cash pot. First place receives half, and the other half goes to a randomly selected team through a blind bucket draw, so every team has a chance to take home some money. Entry is $5 per player each week, or $10 per team. There is also an optional $25 per team season pot that pays out once to the overall winner after ten weeks. That $25 must be paid within the first three weeks of the league, and teams collect points each week toward the fully paid out overall pot. One player on each team needs the Scoreholio app to register and keep score, and all standings and scoring are managed there. Sign up must be completed before play begins to be placed on that night's bracket. All payments are handled inside Golf Addiction prior to play. Outside food and drinks are not permitted and coolers are not allowed, with beer and bucket specials available on site. Squadrons may include the latest pilots and upgrades from the Wild Space format, and proxies are allowed if you do not have the matching cardboard. For proxy pilot tokens, use one from the same faction and initiative and clearly communicate the substitution to your opponent. Build your list with YASB 2.0 by selecting Wild Space and setting the point limit to 200, then print your squad with the Infinite Arenas Squad Printer. Chaotic Energy Art Techniques Workshop May 9

Set aside time to play with paint, pastels, and clay in a relaxed workshop that embraces carefree creativity. One half of the gym will be set up for basketball and other large motor activities, while the other half offers Western themed fun with a craft, a dried corn sensory table, and a playful snake in my boot toss. The space supports kids of all ages and abilities, giving parents a chance to chat while children explore. Equipment will be available, including mats with toys for babies and non-mobile children, and basketballs for big kids, older siblings, or adults who want to shoot hoops. At J. Rieck Music, acclaimed jazz guitarist Adam Moezinia leads a hands-on workshop for guitarists at any stage, focused on practical skills you can apply right away. Topics include improvisation, soloing, comping, solo guitar concepts, trio interaction, and core ideas in counterpoint and harmony. Expect an easygoing, interactive setting with live demonstrations and guidance on thinking musically in the moment. Adam Moezinia draws on experience from the stage and the classroom. Raised in Los Angeles, he attended LACHSA and later earned a full scholarship to The Juilliard School in New York City. His performance credits include Freddy Cole, Mike LeDonne, Cécile McLorin Salvant, George Coleman, and Kenny Washington, with appearances at Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, Birdland, and Smoke. He also leads the Folk Element Trio, blending jazz tradition with folk influences from West Africa, the Caribbean, the UK, and Appalachia. Turbulent Games Expo: Precon Commander Tournament

Taking place at Ramkota Exhibit Hall as part of Turbulent Games Expo, this preconstructed Commander tournament features a casual rules enforcement level and a field limited to 16 to 36 players. 2026 Ride of Silence - Sioux Falls

At Levitt at the Falls, Falls Area Bicyclists and cyclists around the world mark the 24th anniversary of the Ride of Silence with a quiet, slow-paced ride that honors people injured or killed while riding on public roads and encourages everyone to share the road. A brief memorial and dedication precedes departure at the Levitt Shell, with remarks from someone personally affected by a bike and motor vehicle crash, a reading of the official Ride of Silence poem, a moment for prayer and reflection, a short safety talk, and a special send off that may include a bagpiper. The ride proceeds together in the style of a funeral procession at a maximum of 12 mph. Participants are asked to remain silent throughout to show respect for victims and their families, to wear helmets, and to follow all rules of the road. There is no registration fee.

Proceeds support Lincoln High School’s student newspaper, The Statesman, helping cover printing, website expenses, and equipment, and also assisting students as they attend local and national conventions to learn about current journalism trends. The Statesman has earned Superior Newspaper recognition from the South Dakota Activities Association since 2016 and has received the Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association in 2022, 2024, 2025, and 2026. Gently used donations are being collected for resale to promote literacy and education while reducing waste. Contributions from a wide range of genres are welcome, such as fiction, nonfiction, mysteries, Westerns, and romance, along with puzzles, while baby books, textbooks, dictionaries, encyclopedias, magazines, and Reader Digests are not accepted.

At Club 224 inside Lucky’s Bar, Sam Miller delivers stand-up shaped by real life. The Olympia, Washington comic stands 6 feet 6 and 360 pounds, is a father of two, has been married for 15 years, and has maintained sobriety for 17 years, drawing humor from parenting while sober and from experiences around the Yakima jail. His first album and special, Round Trip, was created with Grammy-winning producer Dan Schlissel. It reached number one on the iTunes Comedy charts and entered the overall top 200. Miller appears regularly on the Bob & Tom Radio Show, reaching an estimated 2.5 million listeners, and he has written for Newsweek. His accolades include runner-up at the 2021 Seattle International Comedy Competition and a win at the 2017 Comedy on Trial. He has headlined Sidesplitters in Tampa, Helium in Portland, The Laugh Factory and Zanies in Chicago, and he has performed with the Addicts Comedy Tour as well as at NA and AA conventions around the country. Sioux Falls Totally Rad Vintage Fest

Travel back through the pop culture of the 80s, 90s, and Y2K at a vintage shopping and nostalgia experience at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. Vendors focus on era-defining clothing and accessories, with additional booths featuring records, toys, video games, home goods, and other retro finds. Beyond shopping, the day features the Free-Play Vintage Arcade with classic games, the Rad Rewind Museum highlighting gadgets and artifacts from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, and throwback photo ops designed for memorable snapshots. Ticket options include general admission and an Early Entry upgrade that provides first access to the event. General admission is $8 in advance or $12 on the day of the event. Early Entry is $25. Kids 12 and under are free, and tickets are available at the door. The festival is held indoors, so it takes place rain or shine.
