The Chuck Nation Band brings a concert of sacred bluegrass to the Sanctuary, showcasing rich harmonies and virtuosic playing. Based in Gainesville, Georgia, near Atlanta, the group has appeared on renowned stages, including a 2015 debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City and a performance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The band earned a nomination for Artist of the Year at the 2016 Georgia Music Awards. Bandleader Chuck is a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame and has garnered multiple state titles on fiddle and mandolin in Georgia, as well as a Louisiana state fiddle championship. Their travels have taken them to audiences in Ireland, Japan, China, and Argentina, and they represented the United States at the International Silk Road Folk Festival in Inner Mongolia. Since forming in 2012, they have performed in more than 800 concerts. Expect a program that weaves original songs, traditional pieces, gospel selections, and instrumentals. The ensemble has presented The High Lonesome Bluegrass Mass over 80 times, often partnering with composer Dr. Tim Sharp and ensembles such as the Atlanta Master Chorale, Greenville Chorale, and Montgomery Chorale. After volunteering, a discount at an island restaurant is available. Those planning to return can pick up a magnet that provides free parking in city lots. She Tris returns to The I'On Club for a milestone year, offering an all-women’s sprint event designed to welcome first-timers and seasoned athletes alike. The course unfolds in the I'On neighborhood, known for marsh views and graceful homes, and features a 200 yard pool swim, a 9 mile bike, and a 2 mile run. Swimmers move lane to lane from one end of the pool to the other, then head out for a two loop bike ride on open roads where traffic is generally light. The run follows an out and back route along calm streets and lakeside paths, flat from start to finish with pockets of shade. Multiple race formats are available. Choose the traditional triathlon, a relay option that lets teammates split the legs, an aquathlon that pairs the swim with the run, or a duathlon that combines a short run, the bike, and a final run. These options create approachable entry points for multisport and make it easy for different generations to take part together. Registration includes support before and after the finish line, such as a complimentary training plan, educational clinics, group encouragement during preparation, a She Tris swim cap and shirt, finish line photos, a celebratory gathering at the end, and a keepsake to mark the accomplishment. A virtual format is also offered for those who prefer to complete the distances elsewhere, with the ability to upload results, receive a downloadable finisher certificate, and access local pickup or mailing for race packets. Virtual results are not part of the awards. The mission of She Tris is to provide a supportive space for women and girls to take on triathlon, no matter their background or experience, fostering confidence that extends well beyond race day. Youth participants must be at least 10 years old. The She Tris series also holds events in Mount Pleasant, South Charlotte, Summerville, Huntersville, and Chapel Hill.

IOP Cleanup Crew hosts a beach litter sweep that begins with a welcome session with partners from the South Carolina Aquarium, then transitions into a hands-on cleanup along the shore. Participants work in teams to collect debris and record findings in the aquarium’s Litter Journal, and all necessary gear is provided. Everyone is welcome, and student volunteer hours can be verified. Please sign in at the beach access near Front Beach by Smugglers and Coconut Joe’s, not at IOP County Park a few blocks away. After volunteering, enjoy a discount at an island restaurant, and pick up a magnet that provides free parking in city lots off Pavilion Drive for future visits. For weather updates or possible cancellation, check the organizers’ Facebook page and stay off the beach if conditions are unsafe due to thunder or lightning. At Home Team BBQ-Sullivan's Island, bandleader Eric Culberson draws on a lifetime in music. Raised in a family of musicians, he picked up his father’s acoustic guitar at age six and was already performing in public before finishing first grade. By 1993, his drive and talent caught the attention of Kingsnake Records, resulting in two critically praised albums, Blues Is My Religion and No Rules to the Game. His 2011 independent release, In the Outside, marked a return to the studio and a shift from the band’s established blues foundation, featuring eleven original songs that blend elements of funk, R&B, hard rock, Southern-fried jam, and early punk.
