Susquehanna River, Nesbitt Park, Wilkes BarreAgnes
Agnes, a critically acclaimed and locally produced documentary, returns to the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts in Wilkes-Barre for two screenings. It opens the venue’s W. Curtis Montz Film Series, a tradition that highlights standout documentary, foreign, and independent films, and it will be presented on the Luzerne Foundation Screen. The film weaves rarely seen photographs, local news footage, newspaper clippings, and interviews with survivors, and for the first time includes archived footage from national networks. It has not been broadcast on television. Its premiere at the F.M. Kirby Center sold out, prompting three additional showings by popular demand. Widely praised for its emotional impact and uplifting portrait of the Wyoming Valley’s resilience during what was then the worst natural disaster in U.S. history, this homegrown story returns to the big screen. Tickets are on sale, and additional titles in the film series will be announced in the venue’s upcoming season brochure.
