Underdog BBQIntro to Risograph
Explore the playful world of risograph printing in a collaborative, beginner friendly workshop focused on making two zines. Bring two images to work from, such as photographs, paintings, drawings, scans, or digital artwork, and arrive with imagery you are excited to use. Digital files are encouraged, ideally as JPEG, PNG, or Photoshop files, and guidance on file preparation is available during class. A risograph is a stencil based printing process that blends the look of screen printing with the speed of a copier. Each color is printed one layer at a time, creating bold textures, vibrant overlaps, and happy accidents that invite experimentation. Zines are small, self published booklets for sharing ideas, images, and stories without rules or pressure, which makes them fast, accessible, and naturally collaborative. During the session, the group will print a collaborative zine using all four risograph colors, and participants will leave with four copies of each finished zine to share, trade, or keep. No prior risograph or zine experience is required, and the class welcomes any skill level. More advanced riso classes are also available for those who want to continue exploring.

Erie Art MuseumBook Signing - Lori Duffy Foster - Spring Melt
Werner Books & Coffee hosts a signing with author Lori Duffy Foster to celebrate Spring Melt, her new novel. Set in a bustling Adirondack village in the 1920s, the story centers on Ella Devine, a doctor’s wife whose comfortable circumstances hide a loveless marriage and a habit of accepting life without protest. Everything shifts when three men are accused in a murder that happened nineteen years earlier, pulling into the light the crime that shaped her childhood. The book draws deeply from Adirondack history, where inviting hills and lush forests can conceal real danger, and where a landscape prized by both rugged settlers and wealthy vacationers has long been a place where worlds collide with deadly consequences. Lori Duffy Foster is a former crime reporter who grew up in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. Her previous books include Never Let Go, a thriller, and the Lisa Jamison Mystery Series. Her work has been nominated for or named a finalist for the Agatha, Silver Falchion, and Shamus awards. She is a member of Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, The Historical Novel Society, International Thriller Writers, The Finger Lakes Authors & Readers Experience, and Pennwriters. After several moves with her family, she now writes in the hills of Northern Pennsylvania. A new thriller, No Stranger Here, is releasing in 2027 from Speaking Volumes LLC.
