Fourth Tuesday Community Shape-Note Sing

Shape-note singing returns to South Side Bethlehem at Godfrey Daniels with a free community session every fourth Tuesday. All are welcome, and no prior singing experience is required. Participants sing primarily from The Sacred Harp (1991), with occasional selections from The Shenandoah Harmony (2012). Songbooks are available to borrow or purchase. This tradition centers on The Sacred Harp, first published in 1844 in Georgia, a cornerstone of an American social singing practice that blends well known hymns like Amazing Grace with early New England fuging tunes, arranged for four-part harmonies in a distinctive shape-note notation. A related gathering also takes place every third Saturday on the North Side of Bethlehem at West Side Moravian Church.

Screening: Pardon Me

At Allentown Symphony Hall, this screening of the short documentary Pardon Me explores how pardons can do more than reinstate civil privileges, opening pathways to full participation in civic life and meaningful contribution. Power To The People: John & Yoko Live in NYC at Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas

This screening at Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas revisits John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s landmark One To One concerts at Madison Square Garden through a new multi-screen concert film. Drawn from two sold-out shows captured in August 1972, the footage has been restored, re-edited and remixed by the Lennons’ team, recipients of seven GRAMMY Awards. Backed by the Plastic Ono Band with Elephant’s Memory and special guests, the performances attracted a combined audience of 40,000 and raised over $1.5 million for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These appearances remain the only full-length concerts Lennon performed with Ono after leaving The Beatles. The 2026 version is directed by Simon Hilton, from original multi-camera material filmed by Steve Gebhardt, with editing by Ben Wainwright-Pearce and production by Peter Worsley and Sean Ono Lennon. Music production comes from Sean Ono Lennon, with mixes and engineering by Paul Hicks and Sam Gannon. The set features John’s New York City, Instant Karma!, Imagine and Mother, alongside Yoko’s Don’t Worry Kyoko and Open Your Box, plus energetic takes on Come Together and Hound Dog, and an encore of Give Peace a Chance with appearances by Stevie Wonder, Melanie and others. Rated PG-13 with a runtime of 1 hour and 21 minutes. Discounts for ages 25 and under and for seniors are available at the box office.

Walter Salas-Humara – Alt-Country Pioneer and Co-Founder of The Silos | MEMBERS EXCLUSIVE UNTIL MARCH 22

Walter Salas-Humara, who co-founded The Silos, appears at Godfrey Daniels with a set that blends songs and storytelling in a close, listening-room environment. Emerging from New York’s post-punk scene, The Silos helped pioneer alt-country before it had a name and were named Best New Artist by Rolling Stone critics. His performances spotlight a lived-in voice, quick-witted turns of phrase, and narratives that find meaning in everyday moments. Melodies carry easy hooks and a trail-worn Western lilt, giving the words room to resonate. With over two dozen albums behind him, he embraces the roles of artist, communicator, entertainer, teacher, and mentor. Time at Pratt Institute and years on the road shape a style that prizes clarity, openness, and connection. His creative life extends beyond music, from Horse Paintings displayed in private homes and galleries around the world to WaltersDogs portraits that appeared in the film Get Him to the Greek.

Loom Beadwork Demonstration

A live loom beadwork demonstration presented by Joy Tonepahhote coincides with the grand opening of a new exhibit titled Native American Beadwork. The program offers an up close look at a decorative tradition that followed quillwork, highlighting how bead artistry flourished as seed beads became available and new techniques emerged through the creativity of Native women. Tonepahhote is a contemporary beadworker from the Kiowa Tribe in Anadarko, Oklahoma, and is Guaymi Maya from Conquito, Panama. She carries a Southern Plains family legacy, with her grandmother, Massalena Ahtone, among the notable artists in that tradition. Her practice brings together Plains cultural symbols with elements of U.S. popular culture and varied materials. Guided by experience in social service, she focuses on creating affordable pieces for Native people, including personal adornment and powwow regalia. Her work has been featured at institutions such as the Smithsonian’s Hayes Center and the Indian City USA Cultural Center, and it is on view at the Museum of Indian Culture. The demonstration offers insight into technique, history, and the living artistry of loom beadwork.

Coyote Fur Tanning Course, Allentown PA | Dr. Theresa Emmerich Kamper

Explore ancestral tanning techniques in Pennsylvania with a hands-on course centered on coyote fur. Participants follow the full process using simple, natural materials, from rehydrating dried pelts and fleshing to remove meat and fat, to applying fat tanning with lecithin and oil, softening the hide, and smoking the fur so it can be washed, along with core theory on skinning and preservation. The setting is a peaceful valley west of Allentown with woodlands and open fields, and the work happens beside a spring-fed creek near a rustic settler's cabin, a place that also invites stargazing and time close to nature. By the end, a raw pelt is transformed into a soft, durable and naturally biodegradable coyote fur to take home.

ATC (Artist Trading Card) Club

An Artist Trading Card and ACEO club brings adults and teens ages 14 and up together for in-person creative practice, community, and playful exchanging. It meets on the second Saturday of each month. Membership includes a complimentary starter kit, and each meeting provides three blank cards or a sheet of paper to work on. Sessions begin with about 15 to 20 minutes of instruction on a monthly technique, continue with 30 to 45 minutes of making time, and finish with 30 to 45 minutes of trading paired with a relaxed show and tell. Some gatherings feature themed swaps or guest demonstrations. A shared supply bin is available for use during meetings, and participants are welcome to bring their own materials. Optional add-ons include $5 packs of extra cards and $5 ephemera bundles related to the month’s focus. The standard working surface is a precut 2.5 by 3.5 inch card made from heavy cardstock or watercolor paper. A communal toolkit may include scissors, glue, double-sided tape, washi tape, stamps, inks, markers, paint, brushes, collage pieces, sealers, and protective sleeves. Comfort items such as cutting mats, rulers, sample trays, a drying rack, and sleeves for finished work help keep the process smooth. Recent sets can be displayed on a small gallery board or in binder pages. Optional supports like mini zines, swap envelopes, and mailing labels make remote trades possible when needed. Guidelines emphasize that cards are created for trading, not selling. Care for materials and the workspace, clean up stations, and label personal tools. Credit the maker when trading or photographing artwork. Swaps are optional, and sharing during show and tell is encouraged but never required. The environment is intended to be safe and welcoming, with no harassment, inclusive language, and accessibility adjustments available upon request. A typical meeting opens with a short welcome, announcements, and introductions for new members, moves into technique instruction, allows time for a quick break and tidy up, then concludes with trading, show and tell, and a preview of the next theme with sign ups.

JAMES McMURTRY & The Martial Law Review at Musikfest Cafe

James McMurtry & The Martial Law Review bring a full band show to Musikfest Cafe, with special guest BettySoo. McMurtry is known for richly drawn, character-driven songs that sketch out lives in sharp detail, from a quail-hunting lawman with a hidden home life to a grease-stained mechanic weighing love against the cost of getting by, as well as a troubled narrator shadowed by a black dog and a wandering boy. The sound leans into ragged, rootsy textures with a keen storyteller’s touch, finding humor and heart amid hard truths. These tales fuel his eleventh album, The Black Dog & the Wandering Boy, which gathers sparks from family memories and long-held notes, and sits alongside covers honoring Jon Dee Graham and Kris Kristofferson. The result continues a career marked by vivid narratives and a steady, unflinching gaze. Special guest BettySoo adds a compelling presence, celebrated for a clear, expressive voice and songwriting that pairs wit with emotional depth. Her performances highlight finely crafted lyrics and a command of harmony that has made her a sought-after collaborator. Please note, a $10 food and beverage minimum applies to all reserved seating.
