Take a one hour guided Lantern Tour through Seneca Caverns and descend about 65 feet below ground by the light of lanterns and headlamps. Navigate natural stone steps and tight corridors with occasional low ceilings while hearing ghost stories, local legends, and the history of this Ohio landmark. This experience is for ages 12 and older. Bring a headlamp if you have one, and a limited number will be available if needed. Wear closed toe shoes and a jacket or sweatshirt, as the cave stays near 54°F. Group size is limited to 10 participants. Advance registration is required, and ticket sales close 24 hours in advance. Mad River Outfitters sponsors the official Midwest Fly Fishing Schools, offering a thorough two day introduction to fly fishing with no equipment required. This session takes place at Sunnybrook Trout Club near Sandusky, Ohio. Day one covers an introduction to the sport, a seminar on rods, reels and lines, a basic casting clinic, lunch, instruction on knots and leaders, more casting with video taping, and a basic equipment seminar. Day two focuses on basic entomology and fly selection, reviews of the casting videos, lunch, a rigging and approach seminar, time spent fishing, and a graduation. Many participants may catch their first fish on a fly. An underground outing with Landmark Seekers at Seneca Caverns invites participants to explore a Registered Natural Landmark in Ohio, known as the caviest cave in the United States. Expect a one hour guided tour that moves through seven layers of geological history, including limestone corridors, a walk across the feature known as the Earth Crack, and views of the clear waters of the Ole Mist’ry River. Attendees should plan to drive themselves and meet at the venue. The cave stays around 54°F throughout the year, so light layers are helpful, and sturdy closed toe shoes with good traction are recommended since the path includes natural stone steps and uneven surfaces. Personal photography is allowed, but tripods and selfie sticks are not. Tickets include a Landmark Seekers membership ID, and on site options include picking up gear or trying gem mining. Because of the terrain, strollers and wheelchairs cannot be accommodated.

2026 Tartan 10 North American Championship

The Vermilion Boat Club, together with Vermilion’s local T-10 fleet, hosts the T-10 North American Championship with a welcoming atmosphere for sailors and shore crew on and off the water. Racing is set on open water near the southern reach of Lake Erie, offering easy access to the course and a full range of conditions from light to heavy, with fresh water, occasional chop, and the possibility of larger waves. Local wisdom keeps it simple... start clean, keep the boat moving, and play the shifts. Event plans feature registration, a skippers meeting with opening ceremonies, a national class meeting, and dinner service at the club. Racing follows with daily après sail awards, scheduled competitor dinners, and two evening parties with live music, including a night featuring Abby Normal & Detroit Lean. The regatta concludes with a final day of racing and a closing ceremony with awards in the club’s dining room. Launching is complimentary courtesy of Christy and Don Parsons Inc., with a travel lift and mast crane available, and early arrivals can launch ahead of the main program. Teams seeking trailer transport from Chicago to Vermilion can check with HOOLIGAN RACING. Dockage for visiting boats is also complimentary during the core event period, assigned upon arrival, with special arrangements available for those who come early by coordinating with organizers. Lodging is encouraged to be arranged early, with hotels, vacation rentals, and private options to be detailed in the forthcoming Notice of Race. Onsite camping or RVs are not permitted at the club, though an offsite RV solution is being explored, and the organizing authority can assist with questions. Nearby grocery options include Giant Eagle and Vermilion Farm Market. The Vermilion Boat Club is a family-friendly setting with a pool, three natural gas grills, a new bulkhead with water and electric, a playground, green space, a 2 ton hoist, and private parking. It sits within walking distance of harbor-area shops, beaches, and restaurants. Dining by Executive Chef Mike includes daily summer lunch service and evening dinners on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, with advance reservations requested for sit-down service. The Dockside Pub offers cocktails and quick bites. Pool access is available to sailors and shore crew, with lifeguards on duty, check-in required with the attendant, adherence to posted rules, and no outside food or beverages in pool or dining areas. Promoted as a pinnacle stop on the summer calendar and the T-10 regatta schedule, this championship blends competitive racing with a lively shoreside experience.
